To think it’s hard to go to McDonalds after Five Guys?

I think it’s hard to get excited about McDonald’s burgers if you’ve had more elaborate ones like Five Guys ?

What food is worth getting excited about then?

I like five guys burgers and fries.
Occasionally I get a McDonalds and always regret it

McDonald’s is rubbish really, but I am fond of a Big Mac. I’ve never had five guys but assume it’s similar to shake shack and I did have a nice burger and a stupidly calorific milkshake there once. It’s all just burgers really, none of them are fancy.

Five Guys fries and milkshakes are insanely good.

Also insanely expensive and no branch ever seems to have many customers when I pass one

I don’t think anyone gets ‘excited’ for a MCD. I must be weird though as I really don’t rate Five Guys. It’s nice while you eat the first few bites but the greasiness afterwards makes me feel absolutely grim.

I tried Five Guys once and found it incredibly disappointing. I've never been back.

I didn't really like the Gormet Burger Kitchen either, there was so much stuff in the burger it made the bun all soggy. Too fussy.

Mcdonalds is tolerable if desperate.

If I had to choose a fast food burger I prefer Burger King.

Dislike Five Guys in general. Too much salt in everything.

YABU. The McDonald’s double cheese burger is the pinnacle of all burgers, and everyone else is just a more expensive wannabe.

I’m pretty sure McDonald’s will always be my go to fast food.

YABU I've had five guys twice and it was completely underwhelming on both occasions not to mention bloody extortionate in comparison with other fast food options.

At least McDonald's don't pretend to be anything other than cheap, quick convenient food.

I don't think you can beat a Burger King personally

I’m not keen on Wendy’s… I think they’re better quality than McD, but still not brilliant. Not sure how they compare on price, but probably cost more. Worth a try, but I wouldn’t make a special trip for one.

I liked Five Guys, but thought it was expensive for what it was. Glad I tried it, haven’t rushed back.

I love a maccies. Five guys was a greasy mess and the chips were rank. YABU.

Why are you asking if someone is ok because they think Macdonalds is the pinnacle of fast food?

It’s hardly an unusual opinion, Macdonalds being a popular fast food.

We went to Five Guys during the eat out to help out scheme and it was still expensive! I made the mistake of ordering the veggie burger. Soggy vegetables drowned in oil in a wet bun 🤢

Popular and good food aren’t the same thing though! It’s just convenient, quick and reliable. The food does what it says on the tin and nothing more.

We were just comparing the 2 the other day with DH. When I looked at 5 guys nutrition info I almost had a heart attack . I can have 2 Big Macs for the calories of a burger at 5 guys. Let’s not even talk about the unnecessary big fried and the peanuts . If I were to look at taste, both are pretty average.

People who can afford 5 Guys are probably not the same people that would go to McDs for a meal. Or at least, not as a choice on the same occasion.

McDs is incredibly useful (and affordable) in some circumstances, but you wouldn't feel you'd "gone out for a meal" if you picked up your food there.
5 Guys is priced in the 'going out for a meal' category.

That’s like saying “it’s hard to get excited about the cinema when you’ve been to the theatre”. They are different.

Yes. I do not understand burgers at most restaurants, they’re too big to eat and never compare to a double cheeseburger despite being 5x the price.

I live a very happy life with my love for cheap and convenient burgers 😂

Five Guys is utter shite. And I say that as someone who likes crap food.

5 guys is slathered in sauce - really gross. I prefer McDonald's, although I'm not keen on burgers in general.
