To fucking hate cheese?

Eyes98 · 10/04/2025 19:35

Know this will probably get me kicked off of here๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚ but does anyone else absolutely hate the smell and taste of cheese and not understand how on earth it is popular? It smells of feet and tastes of Christ only knows what, but people still seem to love it? If someone told you โ€œyou smell of cheeseโ€ youโ€™d be deeply insulted however it still seems to be a โ€œdelicious foodโ€? I canโ€™t seem to recall any other food that smells so putrid yet people love it?

Cannot eat cheese on it's own. Only like it with Pizza, Burger, or crisps (Wotsits, cheese and Onion).

Mushrooms though, cannot eat anything with them in it.

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 10/04/2025 21:23

Weirdo. Still, more cheese for me can only be a good thing.. ๐Ÿ˜˜

TallAndSkinnyWithAnUnusuallyLargePelvis · 10/04/2025 21:25

I absolutely love the stuff. My bowels aren't as keen.
But life is too short to pander to my intestines, and I don't want to get to to the end of my life and think "Fuck, why didn't I just eat all of the cheese?", so I battle on, and ignore my grumbling insides.

Sometimes you have to make sacrifices.

mepipesneedlagging · 10/04/2025 21:29

Are you American/living in the States then? ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

PurpleChrayn · 10/04/2025 21:29

YABU. I bought a block of cheese today and ate it on the way home in its entirety.

Panterusblackish · 10/04/2025 21:30

Genuinely the most unreasonable thing I've ever read on Mumsnet

Teanbiscuits33 · 10/04/2025 21:31

I like cheese, but avoid the ones that stink badly. However, I kind of share your sentiments when it comes to fish, who goes to a fish mongers and smells fish and thinks, โ€˜โ€™ooh, Iโ€™ll have that for teaโ€™โ€™ it also stinks when cooking! ๐Ÿคฃ I know itโ€™s not supposed to smell if itโ€™s fresh but it still does, albeit less.

Ditto egg mayonnaise, it smells like farts and I have no idea how it doesnโ€™t put people off. I hate sitting near someone eating egg mayonnaise sandwiches!

My husband hates cheese due to being forced to eat grated mild cheddar on a salad at primary school.

I am a huge cheese fan, and always have some in the fridge. I currently have a chunk of Marks and Spencer Strength Level 7 Cornish Cheddar which I am sharing with the neighbour's cat, who is also partial to cheese. He loves his strong cheddars too.

Many years ago, we had a tortie who was quite the Cheddar gourmet. Every time it came out of the fridge, her little face appeared and she liked the rich/vintage ones the best. She'd have fitted right in at a cheese and wine party - albeit with a nice little bowl of the local Adam's Ale in lieu of wine. ๐Ÿ˜

Ralph likes cheddars above a 5 strength but they make him drool. I'm not sure he's fit for a cheese and wine soirรฉe.

He also likes salted Pringles but makes a terrible noise and mess with them.

lljkk · 10/04/2025 21:41

yayyyy... more cheese for me. ๐Ÿ˜

He sounds adorable. I love cats, they are great.

BLOCKED. ๐Ÿ˜‚

Don't you mean cheese blocked ๐Ÿ˜

JorgyPorgy · 10/04/2025 21:47

YABU in how you express it , but otherwise no

MrsR87 · 10/04/2025 21:49

This is the most outrageous thing Iโ€™ve seen on the internet today ๐Ÿคฃ

Mayflyoff · 10/04/2025 21:54

I'm mostly with you OP. I don't like any stinky cheese. I will eat other cheeses if cooked, but never uncooked, except feta and cream cheese (is that even cheese?).

I'd say I have a complicated relationship with cheese and something approaching a phobia of the uncooked stuff. But I'd be even fatter, if I liked cheese. So perhaps for the best.

TheCountofMountingCrispBags · 10/04/2025 21:59

I need to 'fess up...
I don't think any of those white, bland, untextured, cooked so-called cheeses, are cheeses. Yes, mozzarella, cottage, burrata, ricotta, I'm talking to you...
And I could live without goat's cheese...
But all others are nectar.
Except for those ridiculous ones with fruit in

Khaleesi90s · 10/04/2025 21:59

How dare you!

skippy67 · 10/04/2025 22:01

YANBU. Horrible stinky stuff

Siloportem · 10/04/2025 22:09

This thread has inspired me to treat myself to a little Neals Yard Dairy order, thanks OP

(Like a pp, I don't like fruit. Doesn't appeal AT ALL. I can eat apple if I have to to be polite, or grapes, but that's it, and I'd never choose to.)

CountryQueen · 10/04/2025 22:12

YABU and a psychopath

MasterBeth · 10/04/2025 22:15

What's the point of this thread? A crowd of freaky-eater, uber-fussy, disordered diet deniers say they don't like a perfectly normal food group. Most people do, because it can be delicious, but these people don't.

Whatever.

Liz1tummypain · 10/04/2025 22:21

Not me. I'd give up my life for cheese. Love it. Always have. Someone once told me if you look at a piece of blue cheese under a microscope you can see it moving and that made me question my unwavering devotion for maybe a minute or two but then it was as if I'd never heard it. Maybe it was a joke. Who knows.

I'm the same! It's so weird how some people can just eat a piece of cheese on its own

kkloo · 10/04/2025 22:23

Do you only like food that you wouldn't mind smelling like?

WhatATimeToBeAlive · 10/04/2025 22:25

I'm with you, OP, especially cooked cheese. The smell is disgusting. And they stick it on EVERYTHING in restaurants. Ugh.
