To fucking hate cheese?

Eyes98 · 10/04/2025 19:35

Know this will probably get me kicked off of here๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚ but does anyone else absolutely hate the smell and taste of cheese and not understand how on earth it is popular? It smells of feet and tastes of Christ only knows what, but people still seem to love it? If someone told you โ€œyou smell of cheeseโ€ youโ€™d be deeply insulted however it still seems to be a โ€œdelicious foodโ€? I canโ€™t seem to recall any other food that smells so putrid yet people love it?

Well someone has to balance out people like me. I've never met a cheese I didn't like.

I would say more for the rest of us but I must say the cheese haters are a pain to cater for. My step dad despises cheese so whenever they come over for meals it's a challenge. I just feel bad for my mum as she love Italian food but they can never go together as he hates the smell of melted cheese the most (literally gagging).

I take the opportunity to feed her all the stuff he hates when she is here without him, spicy cheesy fajita, lasagna, while baked camembert, goats cheese salad etc ๐Ÿ˜

Side note - can you share your recipe for spicy cheesy fajitas. Sounds Devine!

I do not understand what you are saying, at all.
There is literally nothing that cheese doesn't make better.

Saying you donโ€™t like cheese is like saying you donโ€™t like fruit.

No cheese at all?

Not even bland fake cheese like Diarylea? Or cheesy Wotsits?

You have my sympathy.

I know a few people who don't like fruit I'm not keen on anything that tastes slightly tangy I think the better comparison would be chocolate - I don't know many people if any, who don't like chocolate.

Cheesyrhymes · 10/04/2025 20:16

Cheese is a despicable concoction that deserves nothing but utter contempt.

Itโ€™s just milk thatโ€™s gone off.

You are spot on, OP.

Bonjovispyjamas · 10/04/2025 20:17

A life without cheese isn't worth living ๐Ÿ˜ข๐Ÿ˜œ

I don't like fruit ๐Ÿ˜‚

I just don't get it at all.

JMSA · 10/04/2025 20:18

YANBU!!!
I donโ€™t like the stuff either and do not understand its great appeal.

thecatislying · 10/04/2025 20:19

Mmmm... you smell of lamb shanks and mashed potato ๐Ÿ˜

CeeJay81 · 10/04/2025 20:20

Yes Blue cheese is disgusting but that is all. Every other cheese I've tried is delicious!

Cheesyrhymes · 10/04/2025 20:21

There is a poem about cheese that I enjoy. An extract:

I dislike the kind of fella who enjoys his mozzarella.
You may gobble down your feta, but I can think of plenty better.
If my gran bought me Red Leicester Iโ€™d get police round to arrest her.
Iโ€™d die sad and cold and lonely, before eating mascarpone.

And no matter what you say, your fromage frais is NOT OK.

If the hubby bought fromage Iโ€™d move into the garage.
If heโ€™d stop the boats with cheese on Iโ€™d be voting for Farage.
Yes, Iโ€™ve got problems with these cheeses, and theyโ€™re very, very large.

JMSA · 10/04/2025 20:21

In fact, sometimes Iโ€™ll be watching dishes being cooked online and think โ€˜ooh, that looks delicious.โ€™
And then they add cheese!!! For me, it ruins absolutely everything.

Totally with you. Gone off cows breast milk? No ta.
Im italian tooโ€ฆ. It blows my families minds!

TheBermudaTriangleone · 10/04/2025 20:25

One of my worst childhood experiences was being taken to a cheese factory. Iโ€™m autistic and hate smells. I honestly thought I might die that day I was alternating between tantrums then crying then nearly vomiting, trying to walk off etc etc I hated every second. There was a cafe serving ice cream but the overwhelming stench of cheese made even the supposedly nice flavours of ice cream taste like sick. I was in shock for about 48 hours afterwards and felt like the smell was stuck to me !

tigger1001 · 10/04/2025 20:25

i hate most cheeses. Can eat mozzarella and that's about it.

I love the idea of them, especially all the ones with fruit etc in at Christmas, but despite having tried several times, I just hate the taste.

people do look at you odd when you say you hate cheese, but I do.

theunbreakablecleopatrajones · 10/04/2025 20:30

YAB totally U

However I wish I hated cheese, as it does contribute to my tendency to become the size of a house, so in that sense, yes, โ€˜tis evil.

TheeNotoriousPIG · 10/04/2025 20:34

I have a love-hate relationship with the stuff. I like cheese. Unfortunately, it does not like me. It causes me to have terrible and very dramatic migraines! Since they started, it has been known as Poisonous Cheese๐Ÿ˜†

This does, however, make travelling or eating out a bit tricky, because everything gets smothered with the stuff (unless it is Indian food or Chinese). I'm from the north of England! I like food topped with gravy, not cheese!

notacooldad · 10/04/2025 20:35

I understand that people like different things but to say you don't like any cheese seems a bit weird as there are so many different types, smells and textures of cheese.
You can't compare Brie with cottage cheese or paneer to a double Gloucester for example

YourWinter · 10/04/2025 20:35

The world is a better place with cheese in it. My fridge could be bare of everything except milk, butter and several types of cheese.

OrchardDoor · 10/04/2025 20:37

I think there's a cheese hating gene. I've known a few people who feel the same as you.
