To fucking hate cheese?

Eyes98 · 10/04/2025 19:35

Know this will probably get me kicked off of here๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚ but does anyone else absolutely hate the smell and taste of cheese and not understand how on earth it is popular? It smells of feet and tastes of Christ only knows what, but people still seem to love it? If someone told you โ€œyou smell of cheeseโ€ youโ€™d be deeply insulted however it still seems to be a โ€œdelicious foodโ€? I canโ€™t seem to recall any other food that smells so putrid yet people love it?

There are so many different flavours and textures of cheese. There must be one out there worth holding your nose for.

I have a block of blue cheese on the go which is bliss on toasted sourdough with butter and sliced cherry tomatoes or just cherry tomatoes stuffed with blue cheese.

I also have a block of Swiss Gruyรจre which is just perfect on its own. I think itโ€™s my favourite ever.

Pompomtyn · 10/04/2025 20:38

Cheese would be the last food I'd ever give up. Wine would go before I gave up a nice strong cheddar. I will never go vegan because - Cheese. Cheese rules. YABU!!

ScottBakula · 10/04/2025 20:39

I have just checked and currently have ;
ยฝ Lb Pilgrims choice extra mature
1 herb cheese roulade
1 jar ( about ยผlb) wax sealed Stilton
1 small wax coated block
1 ball of mozzarella
About 2 oz spicy Mexican
Aldi melting cheese
And some home made cream cheese
This is probably a bit less than average for me .

Every Sunday evening I make a cheese board with lots of small amounts of which ever I have in.
Add some cured meat , home made pickles and some crackers.

I am guessing you don't want a invitation @Eyes98 ?

tigger1001 · 10/04/2025 20:25

i hate most cheeses. Can eat mozzarella and that's about it.

I love the idea of them, especially all the ones with fruit etc in at Christmas, but despite having tried several times, I just hate the taste.

people do look at you odd when you say you hate cheese, but I do.

I love cheese , and fruit with cheese is acceptable but fruit in cheese is bloody horrible

Esssa · 10/04/2025 20:43

I'm currently sad that I'm temporarily dairy and soya free and can't eat real cheese. Dairy free stuff is rubbish compared

hockityponktas · 10/04/2025 20:45

nope, canโ€™t understand you.

ScottBakula · 10/04/2025 20:47

Ooh I forgot I have some Blacksticks Blue too ๐Ÿ˜‹

SimpleSister · 10/04/2025 20:48

I like cheese, but I am getting very tired of finding it added to so many foods. Why add it to mashed potato or a crust? Stop preparing foods in such a way as to remove it's natural flavour.

PonyPatter44 · 10/04/2025 20:49

Weirdo.

That is all.

Confused19831983 · 10/04/2025 20:52

I absolutely hate it. Canโ€™t stand it.

Well ynbu, but you couldnโ€™t be more wrong ๐Ÿ˜‚
cheese is the best food in the whole world!

Eyes98 · 10/04/2025 20:53

Not sure how many this applies to but I also canโ€™t stand โ€œwhite saucesโ€ either - hear me out, with savoury foods. Iโ€™m fine with cream sauces with sweet foods (I.e. puddings), so obviously cream and ice cream etc, but with main meals (savoury) I canโ€™t do cream or white sauces. So with meat/fish/seafood, I will have a red, tomato based sauce if I am going to eat it. Same with curries - I canโ€™t have a cream based sauce e.g korma, it has to be a red tomato based sauce, so bhuna, dhansak, garlic chicken, rogan josh etc.

Go wash your mouth out immediately (with cheese)!

Agreed she needs to wash her mouth out!!

but not with cheese! Can't be wasting cheese in her, she's simply not worth it!!

I know, I have quite the years to go and hug all the cheese in the fridge and give it reassurance!!

Pickledpeanuts · 10/04/2025 21:00

How are you with things that are made with cheese, but don't taste cheesy? Like a lemon cheesecake?

Absolutely fine - no issue there.

If there was a religion devoted to cheese, I'd sign up. I absolutely love it in most of its varieties (Dairylea and the weird filling in Ritz sandwich biscuits being two exceptions.) But I don't think you're unreasonable at all. Many people love soft-boiled eggs. I don't and if the white's soft, it makes me think of warmed-up snot. The appeal of most meringue, even the better sort, goes over my head, drawing my teeth in the process. Steak and kidney pudding? You can keep it. Kidney reeks of the stuff that goes through it. We all have our likes and dislikes and it wouldn't do for everyone to be the same.

I wish I hated cheese. Iโ€™d be at least a stone lighter.

Octavia64 · 10/04/2025 21:06

I love cheese.

unfortunately I am lactose intolerant (developed as a teen) so it makes me violently ill.

i have been on a lifelong quest to find a vegan alternative to cheese that actually tastes like cheese. I am still on it.

Ah now I am with you on this , with the exception of peppercorn sauce I don't really like cream based sauce (salad cream) doesn't count
I particularly dislike chicken and mushroom pies that have cream sauce in them

Jewelanemone · 10/04/2025 21:21

My husband hates cheese due to being forced to eat grated mild cheddar on a salad at primary school.

I am a huge cheese fan, and always have some in the fridge. I currently have a chunk of Marks and Spencer Strength Level 7 Cornish Cheddar which I am sharing with the neighbour's cat, who is also partial to cheese. He loves his strong cheddars too.
