Gender and pronouns

Before I start, the daily mail and other papers can all fuck off

I’m prepared to be flamed for this as I’ve been here long enough to know how it all works but….

aibu to tell my son he can’t have his partner over any more

It’s a new relationship. My son is 21 and the new partner is 18

He barely works and is consequently on a low salary however he does help me with childcare (that I pay a minimal amount for)

the new partner is a very petite pink haired “girl” that does ballet and dance but uses the pronoun he/him

my 11 year old daughter is finding it confusing and asked if her brother is gay. I replied with “no because the partner is very feminine and is a girl despite the pronouns” (I couldn’t care less if he was gay, sexuality isn’t important)

So am I being unreasonable in saying the partner doesn’t come over as it’s just too weird and I don’t want that example being set for my daughter

So what are you saying here?

'Trans people' have DSDs?

Because there is zero evidence for this.

Because there is zero evidence for this

Actually I entirely disagree

No decent man? And man is obviously synonymous with biological male right? And “biological male” - Thats determined at conception right? By karyotype? So includes women with CAIS right? So they are indecently violating your boundaries by changing in the women’s changers right? Any decent women with CAIS would go in the men’s? And you are the decent one here right? And all this is so obvious..

What does this have to do with male people who say they are women and use women's spaces?

So where is it?

Read some of the cutting edge science on transness and neurodevelopmental differences .

give what a rest? Demonstrating how your logic makes no sense and is both arbitrary and discriminatory. I bet you wish I would.

But in the overwhelming majority of people, including those who identify as trans, it really is as simple as that.

One might be forgiven for thinking that your obsession with DSDs is just a distraction technique to avoid talking about whether people like Karen White and Isla Bryson really belong in women's spaces.

Looking only at details and exceptions is not how you understand the whole picture. I’m fascinated by your brain and how clever it appears for details but comes up with ludicrous overall conclusions.
If you’re not trolling I hope you’re speaking to someone.

I doubt they have the necessary level of self awareness for that.

BundleBoogie · 11/04/2025 22:03

Tandora · 11/04/2025 21:48

No we can’t, because people insist on denying the existence of trans people because they don’t understand the biology of sex. So it is necessary for explain the biology of sex which can’t be done without acknowledging the existence of such persons.

It really isn’t relevant at all.

People are born with all sorts of atypical physical features.

We can definitely explain the biology of sex without needing to drag in people with differences of any sort.

Ok so you at least acknowledge that for a minority of people it isn’t as simple as that?

Oh no, Tandora is going to link extensive evidence linking DSDs to trans identification any second now.

Tandora · 11/04/2025 21:41

It’s not whataboutery AT ALL.

Although I would agree with your basic representation of the biology of the condition, I would not support calling women with CAIS “male” (and that is not the scientific or medical consensus either) but ultimately that particular argument is nothing but semantics- what matters is that you believe them to be (what you call) “male” and , regardless of their personal biological and social realities , you attach political importance and policy mandates to that externally imposed label- “male”.

So if you believe them to be male- as you state - this presumably means according to your belief system women with CAIS are trans women and therefore also “deceivers” and “pretending?”That they should be banned from female toilets and female changing rooms and female sports? Now please tell me how that has anything to do with either science or justice?

Edited

It’s 100% whataboutary, especially in the context of this thread.

No female has CAIS.

Only people (male) with XY chromosomes have this diagnosis (damn that pesky science).

This does not make them Trans women.

They have never had male genitalia or been exposed to testosterone.

yes exactly. People are born with all sorts of differences. And also develop all sorts of differences as they grow. We can still describe things and also acknowledge differences. Like we can describe men and women and still acknowledge trans people

Intersex people are not trans, so yes you absolutely can leave us out of it. Sick of being used as a "whatabout". I'm a human being FFS.

BelfastBard · 11/04/2025 22:07

Is that what you think you’ve demonstrated? Bless.

So tell me where I got you wrong:

Was it the part where you conflated man with biological male? Or declared that being a man/ biological male was determined at conception by karyotype? Or the part where you said no such decent person (man/ bio male/ person determined male at conception by karyotype) would ever use a woman’s changer?

tell me . Do tell me.

DisappearingGirl · 11/04/2025 22:12

I think CAIS is fascinating. I think it's pretty much the only DSD where someone with XY chromosomes will appear entirely female, at least externally.

If the debate was "Should people with CAIS be allowed in women's changing rooms, sports and prisons" my response would probably be "Yes this is probably fine even though they are not genetically female".

This isn't the debate though, is it?

BreadInCaptivity · 11/04/2025 22:12

Tandora · 11/04/2025 22:03

Life for people with DSD’s isn’t simple at all.

A CAIS diagnosis is life changing and incredibly difficult to process.

But do go on demonstrating your lack of understanding and force teaming 🤷‍♀️

You are a human, you are not trans. Totally agree. No idea what your circumstances are but I’m trying to explain to people on this thread that, for wxample( women with CAIS are not trans.

LittleCharlotte · 11/04/2025 22:15

There's no need to mention us though! I have sympathy for trans people and a couple of trans friends but we are nothing like each other.

HipTightOnions · 11/04/2025 22:15

Tandora, do you think that being male is an actual thing?

Do you think sexual reproduction is a real thing? What types of people (or other animals) are required to achieve it?
