Feel annoyed we can’t go on another holiday this year

We usually do 2 abroad holidays a year one week each and 3 uk short breaks aswell.
This year we have come away abroad for 11 nights with the idea that if we came longer that would be our abroad holiday this year.
We have our 3 uk breaks booked this year too.
Well it’s nearing the end of our abroad holiday and I’m the type of person who’s always got to have something booked to look forward to (holidays are our thing we don’t spend money on anything else) so I’m now starting to get that holiday blues sad feeling of we are heading home in a few days and where usually we would be back in August we won’t be back until April again next year.

AIBU for thinking that waiting a year after an abroad family holiday is hard? Or do I need a reality check and look forward to our abroad holiday this time next year and we will do 11-14 nights again.

Financially we can afford to go in August this year but hubby works for his parents business and when I broached the subject to his mum that we may do a sneaky week in August she promptly informed me that he didn’t have any holiday days left (in fact he is already over his allowance of holidays with the breaks we’ve got booked in the uk this year)
I said well he can take a weeks unpaid and she said it’s not about the time off we’ve got a business to run and work to do.
So that annoyed me 😂

Good - I was genuinely trying to be helpful. I'd also go to more gigs and other 'experience' things that you can do from your home.

A bit late to respond but here’s my take. Maybe you are not being unreasonable. Only to find out is have your husband leave his work for an actual work with another employee. See if he gets more vacation hours and money from that. If that did not pan out, you can leave your husband for another man who 1. have more free time for you to go around travel 2. unemployed so he has all the time to travel with you.
The grass is not always greener on the other side but reality can be fun to experience as well

Luckily we were able to book again for our second abroad holiday in August this year.

Not bull at all. Why can’t you take the kids away by yourself? I work in a school so get the holidays off, whereas DH has a limited amount of holiday and has to fit in around everyone else at work who also wants to take holidays in the school holidays. For several years we did one holiday with the four of us, and then one holiday with me and the kids and my parents. All UK based and with our caravan, but the concept is the same. The kids had great holidays (which was the main reason for me), they and I got to quality time with my parents, and DH got a week of peace and quiet. Everybody wins! I see you’ve managed to book another family holiday now, but for the future, why wouldn’t you just go without him?

The event that lead to the August holiday being booked was, hubby is lucky enough to work for the family business and father in law had just had surgery for bowel cancer so said go and enjoy your selves as life is too short.
no hissy fits involved but I love the assumptions 😂😂🫣

Jesus your posts are something else, fancy being grateful that your fil has bowel cancer, so you get your entitled wish of a second holiday abroad

I expect you’ll survive without the second foreign holiday this year. Perhaps as an alternative you could plan a trip with a friend or friends, or just you and the kids (personally I’d go for the friend option) if you can afford it and the issue is your husband taking leave? Next year, go back to the one week plus one week trips pattern.

Holidays are fantastic, I live for mine. In my case usually one week away a year, and I make a decent living but I have a high cost base so one week it is. I wouldn’t be complaining after a 2 week holiday that I had to wait a year for the next.

Meanwhile I'm happy to share I think I'm going to be successful in my application for what will be my third job, so I come out the end of the month with actual money left in my account. Jfc.
