Is this unflattering for a bridesmaid?

My bridesmaids range in size from 8 to 12. No one happens to be plus size.

Would this dress flatter most of the women do you reckon?

We are late 20s

i have chosen to show the image of the plus size model as I think it highlights that it works on bigger sizes. What do you think?

This sort of dress will make your bridesmaids feel self conscious every minute of the day and I'm sure you don't want that. Also if even a speck of water goes on that fabric it will stain. I'd think again if I were you

Utterlyridiculous · 09/04/2025 22:14

Really unflattering. I’m a size 10 and between the cut and the fabric, I would feel very conscious of my tummy in it. It would show underwear lines too.

TheatreTraveller · 09/04/2025 22:16

Do you not actually like your bridesmaids?

DeborahVance · 09/04/2025 22:16

Couldn't be less flattering. That style really clings and shows every line of underwear however slim you are.

ThinWomansBrain · 09/04/2025 22:16

was this inspired by the recent thread about whether you'd go shopping in your pyjamas?

Doolallies · 09/04/2025 22:17

I like the shape on the average sized model hate the colour. The dress on plus sized is horrendous

Matildahoney · 09/04/2025 22:17

The colour you're looking for is dusky pink which might be why you're struggling!
The dress is not flattering, but you really should be asking your bridesmaids opinions

pearbottomjeans · 09/04/2025 22:18

It certainly doesn't flatter that model so I would say that's an example of how it doesn't work, actually. Sorry!

PinkiOcelot · 09/04/2025 22:05

It looks like a nightie.

Yes, this.

I’m really struggling to find this shade of dress. I need this tan mauve colour to match my scheme. Gahhh

Is this a birdy grey dress? Loads of different styles and fabrics in this colour on their website!

sorry, links aren’t working (edited)

Bigearringsbigsmile · 09/04/2025 22:20

It's really horrible

AprilBunny · 09/04/2025 22:20

Could you have dresses made in the right colour?

incandescentglow · 09/04/2025 22:20

i dont understand why you're so focused on the plus size element when you keep saying your bm's arent plus size?? why is it relevant???

Heronwatcher · 09/04/2025 22:20

If you must go for mauve why? what about something flowery. Since all your bridesmaids are slim they could definitely get away with something like this.

saltinesandcoffeecups · 09/04/2025 22:04

I think that style flatters very few body types.

This. It's fucking awful.

Froum · 09/04/2025 22:21

So this is the only other dress I have found that I like. But will it look weird cause the groom and groomsmen have gone for navy suits

I think it would only work on the extremely slim and toned. It looks atrocious on the large model.

Silverstars21 · 09/04/2025 22:22

Coali · 09/04/2025 22:08

That’s one of the most difficult cuts to wear. Too thin and all you see are hip bones, slightly rounded tummy and people will be asking your bridesmaids if they’re expecting. I’m not really sure who would look good in it. Definitely not something I’d want to wear if I had to be on show all day and wanted to actually enjoy myself and the food, drink, and dancing.

This. At worst in this type of dress & material the pubic bone is on display never mind the hip bones.

zeibesaffron · 09/04/2025 22:22

This wouldn’t suit many people, you would need to be comfortable with your body shape and size. As it will show everything.

It does absolutely nothing for the plus size model except fit her really badly.

Whoarethoseguys · 09/04/2025 22:22

Sorry but I don't think it would flatter anyone. It is much too clingy and the material looks flimsy

MrsBlondie · 09/04/2025 22:23

What about the lovely dresses other posters have added here.

bridgetreilly · 09/04/2025 22:23

I think the big problem with the OPs suggestion is the cut around the bust. Are all the bridesmaids relatively similarly endowed?

Outofthepan · 09/04/2025 22:24

Oh no, @Froum so unforgiving on anyone

is your dress a similar style?

I also think the colour is pretty difficult to wear
