Is this unflattering for a bridesmaid?

My bridesmaids range in size from 8 to 12. No one happens to be plus size.

Would this dress flatter most of the women do you reckon?

We are late 20s

i have chosen to show the image of the plus size model as I think it highlights that it works on bigger sizes. What do you think?

The colour is really drab for any skin tone as well

Froum · 09/04/2025 22:08

I’m really struggling to find this shade of dress. I need this tan mauve colour to match my scheme. Gahhh

That’s one of the most difficult cuts to wear. Too thin and all you see are hip bones, slightly rounded tummy and people will be asking your bridesmaids if they’re expecting. I’m not really sure who would look good in it. Definitely not something I’d want to wear if I had to be on show all day and wanted to actually enjoy myself and the food, drink, and dancing.

icantfindmyphone · 09/04/2025 22:08

The bust stitching is all wrong. it doesn’t even work on the model .

What it looks like on a slimmer person

It does look better on the slimmer person but I still think the bust area is really iffy.

AnOldCynic · 09/04/2025 22:09

Satin is a bugger for grease and oil stains.

Jgilg · 09/04/2025 22:09

It's awful. Would you wear it as a bridesmaid / guest?!

animalculous · 09/04/2025 22:09

Are you joking? It's hideous 🙈

HateThese4Leggedbeasts · 09/04/2025 22:09

I don't think it is a forgiving dress at all even if you are slim.

Isyesterdaytomorrowtoday · 09/04/2025 22:10

The colour is horrible and really unflattering on pretty much every skin tone. The shaping round the boobs will make them look saggy even if they aren’t. Overall really unforgiving, please don’t

KnewYearKnewMe · 09/04/2025 22:10

Is that the colour you’re going for, OP?

I think light colours in that fabric would be quite unforgiving. Navy, emerald, ruby etc could look lovely.

NewName2025 · 09/04/2025 22:10

I like the colour but I think the fabric doesn't look great and there's something not quite right about the tummy area. The one that@BrunchBarBandit found seems much more flattering. Have you looked at JJ's House? They have a couple of shades in the purple range that look quite similar to your mauve and a tonne of different styles.

ToffeePennie · 09/04/2025 22:11

That wouldn’t work on anyone with any boobs other than a C/D cup that can get away without a bra/with a stick on or strapless bra. Which in my experience stops at DD cup. Sorry it’s not flattering at all.

I think I have but I will check again. Thank you

Nothing good about this dress, very few people would look good in it. Very unflattering.

ThinWomansBrain · 09/04/2025 22:11

AprilBunny · 09/04/2025 22:03

Really awful around the bust area.

and the stomach
hate the bare arms
if the picture was full length the bottom might look OK

Froum · 09/04/2025 22:06

I think it looks nice on the plus size model.

Her breast area is the main area the eye is drawn to, if the dress was supposed to look better fitting with whatever bra they would have the model styled as so, its not forgiving and it doesnt have any qualities or shape or colour that draws attention away.

Yes this is the colour I’m searching for - a dusty mauve

Depends on the body shape of the bridesmaids. I’m small chested, so wouldn’t suit me, but anyone with a reasonable cleavage it would suit. Also, may depend what underwear they have in to disguise lumps and bumps.

However, pretty dress and I like the colour.

Whereas I was thinking "well that will be hopeless if they have a big bust, they never put enough room in the cups of those things and I'm always falling out of them". Which, I think, unfortunately illustrates the general gist here which is that actually it's unlikely to really flatter anyone.

11811B · 09/04/2025 22:13

Dear God that dress flatters no one. OP it's made to be worn without a bra looking at the way the top is, I'm an 8 and couldn't get away without a bra!

Genevieva · 09/04/2025 22:13

It looks like lingerie

BobbyBiscuits · 09/04/2025 22:13

As others say, the way the bust area points downwards in a v shape is hugely unflattering. It evokes saggy boobs on any sized bust.
The colour is nice but I think the top half of the dress is a bit wrong looking.

Neveranynamesleft · 09/04/2025 22:14

Awful. Looks cheap, style is not bridesmaid quality, the colour is drab and the cut / fit would be very uncomfortable for anyone that is conscious of a few pounds weight gain. Please dont get this.
