Is this unflattering for a bridesmaid?

My bridesmaids range in size from 8 to 12. No one happens to be plus size.

Would this dress flatter most of the women do you reckon?

We are late 20s

i have chosen to show the image of the plus size model as I think it highlights that it works on bigger sizes. What do you think?

It’s not real

What's not real?

People seem a little crazy today. What’s all this balking at satin bias cut dresses. They are extremely popular and as these pictures show, can look lovely on the different 8-12 figures the OPs bridesmaid will probably have

It’s not real

Why?

Iceandfire92 · 10/04/2025 21:00

No no no! I would be upset and anxious if I was forced to wear that all day and be photographed in it; I'm a size 8-10 and I'm sure it would show every crevice, lump and bump. It's an unflattering cut, does no favours for the plus sized model and the fabric is so cheap and ghastly. It's also a very unflattering shade to those with paler skin. I personally think it looks far better if you allow bridesmaids to choose their own dress (within a certain colour palette so it harmonises with your theme). Again, please do not make your closest friends wear this nightie monstrosity or they may not be your friends for much longer after the wedding 🤣.

Why?

@Froum ignores all comments and questions after lighting touch paper

MrsHapus · 10/04/2025 21:05

Have you ordered any colour swatches form Azazie- try different fabrics/colours as there seems to be some that match your colour scheme :)

She's going to make them put fake tan on! 😂

GrandmaJowa · 10/04/2025 21:08

This bridesmaid dress looks like one of my nightgowns. Simply a no-go dress! Too clingy even on a slim person. Certainly couldn't wear pants as there would be a VPL.

They all happily wear fake tan for big occasions/functions

Ah! @Froum !

Do your bridesmaids like the dress?

qwertyasdfgzxcv · 10/04/2025 21:15

I like it but the boob area isn't great

Ah! Good evening! Have your bridesmaids tried on the dresses? How have you found the responses on here?

weshallovercomeaswevedonebefore · 10/04/2025 21:18

I really like it! I’d wear it. Love the colour and the style.

Froum · 10/04/2025 21:18

I had to disengage because people wear seemingly taking glee in being rude. I picked a dress people don’t like. It’s not that serious.

I haven’t shown the dresses yet. I’m putting together a Pinterest board. The first dress I shared was my fav. I hate flouncy dresses like the one I’ve attached. We’re young women! Something sleeker is my preferred look. I don’t want them to look matronly.

My wedding is very understated.

Who on earth chose the picture of the first model to advertise that dress?! It’s not as unflattering on the slimmer model but there must be loads of other far nicer dresses to choose from for your bridesmaids? It looks so cheap as well.

Greentrees2024 · 10/04/2025 21:27

Looks terrible. Don’t do it to them!

Outofthepan · 10/04/2025 21:27

I see what you mean about flouncy and dated @Froum , I see the fashions.

just ask them? If they love it, you’re sorted

If not, look at other dresses

Bologneselove · 10/04/2025 21:28

It looks like a nightie, horrible one at that.

FleurDeFleur · 10/04/2025 21:29

That one you've just posted looks as if it might be more flattering. Nice colour. Have the bridesmaids tried them on?

Greentrees2024 · 10/04/2025 21:33

Froum · 09/04/2025 22:36

I love this colour. 2 bridesmaids (cousins) are half Indian and it would look amazing on them. I would ask the other bridesmaids to fake tan

Why are you asking them to fake tan? What’s so wrong with their skin? That would be like asking someone to lose weight. I would rethink that if I were you!

Hellyk1985 · 10/04/2025 21:34

Your original dresses are beautiful. I love the colour. And as long as bridesmaids feel comfortable then go for it. Im sure they will look stunning x

Moll2020 · 10/04/2025 21:34

It looks like nightwear.

Agapornis · 10/04/2025 21:53

Why not ask them to vote, or have them choose between 2 designs in the same colour, or ask them for ideas? They're not dress up dolls, they should get a say in what they'll wear.

Unfortunately the first dress is only flattering if you are very slim with visible abs and tiny boobs. It frames the belly. I also don't feel it's particularly sleek or modern - bit 90s to me.

ridingfreely · 10/04/2025 21:55

Depending on the light, you risk BM looking naked in the photos - not a flattering shape, material or colour im afraid

anon666 · 10/04/2025 21:56

I have to agree with pp, it's horrific.

Almost anyone would look dreadful in that.

It's weirdly bad for both large and small bust sizes. It's got a huge expanse of thin fabric over the entire midriff area so shows every line.

If I'd been asked to wear this, it would have been a flat no.

I was a bridesmaid for my sister and whilst the colour was lovely, it was awful on me. Didn't care, her choice, her day.

But if she'd required me to wear something that made me feel exposed and self conscious, I'd have been legit angry.
