Is this unflattering for a bridesmaid?

My bridesmaids range in size from 8 to 12. No one happens to be plus size.

Would this dress flatter most of the women do you reckon?

We are late 20s

i have chosen to show the image of the plus size model as I think it highlights that it works on bigger sizes. What do you think?

Even in my 20's when I was stick thin, I'd have felt very exposed and self conscious wearing that in front of a bunch of people. Your bridesmaids won't thank you for it.

NaiceEagle · 10/04/2025 19:23

Sorry. I think that clingy, shiny fabric is unflattering for all but very slim. Shape wear underneath would be crucial. But I think it best not to go for that kind of fabric.

Yourcatisnotsorry · 10/04/2025 19:25

That fabric and cut are very unflattering and I even on the slim model it makes her look like she’s got a pot belly. The colour is insipid and the style is very bland. There are so many lovely dresses, choose with your bridesmaids.

busymomtoone · 10/04/2025 19:32

I clicked unreasonable by mistake sorry!! I think it’s lovely - Ghost designer style ( silk/ satin) and as the largest size is a 12 will look amazing! Just be careful with underwear selection as those dresses do cling! Very pretty shade too.

ScruffGin · 10/04/2025 19:32

How about this one? Far more flattering! There's other types as well, but colour fits

The colours nice but Im an sze 8 and am not keen on it as It looks more like an slip or nighty to me.

I Think this thread has been a wind up

Bear in mind the model has got a terrible bra situation going on

And they chose that picture to advertise it? That should be the best possible picture of it

Can I just say I'd avoid satin. Very unforgiving fabric no matter the size of wearer. My bridesmaids were an 8 and 10 (daughters) and they wouldn't. I can however give a big thumbs up to JJshouse. We got a dark green. Material lovely. Good prices. Well made. They have a lot of colours to choose from. But the clincher for me was the try on service of £10 per dress. My girls tried on 6 (1 free so cost £50 to do so). And then we bought what they liked.
Good luck on your search!

Sorry, you PAID to try on dresses?????

TheHierophant · 10/04/2025 20:16

It looks like a nightgown and will hug every lump and bump

That's just madness, isn't it?!

Robinredd · 10/04/2025 20:19

OP people are being very harsh. This is aibu so no matter what you ask you'll be told by the majority that you're in the wrong.

I think it's gorgeous. I haven't read the full thread but why don't you see what your bridesmaids think? I really enjoyed bringing my bridesmaids dress shopping and them helping choose the dress. After all they have to wear it.

Have a lovely day and congratulations.

Toptops · 10/04/2025 20:27

Sorry op but I think your choice, and later choices are hideous!
Give them the colour and let them choose the style.

I can’t believe you paid to try on dresses.
I’ve never heard of that.
A family member owns a bridal shop , she’s never heard of that.
What a rip off.

Mellowbear · 10/04/2025 20:31

Sorry it's awful

I don't think that the dress is that extreme. Lots of bridesmaids have worn similar.

CandyLeBonBon · 10/04/2025 20:37

The dress looks like it’s cut on the bias which means it’ll cling to every lump and bump. The straps don’t allow for a normal bras and a strapless job will ruin the line. The way light catches satin means it will also show up any lumps/bumps/perceived flaws and the colour will only work on tanned/darker skin tones so if you have any paler skinned bridesmaids they’ll look like corned beef!

springbringshope · 10/04/2025 20:37

I don’t know why people are being catty either OP

I don’t know this brand but there are some nice styles

RavenhairedRachel · 10/04/2025 20:40

Horrible looks like a cheap version of those hideous underwear type dresses Victoria Beckham designs,

FleurDeFleur · 10/04/2025 20:40

Nobody is being "catty".
The OP has asked opinions on a dress. People have given opinions. No-one has been rude or personal.

Hesma · 10/04/2025 20:42

Grim 🤮

abracadabra1980 · 10/04/2025 20:43

It's awful. That colour suits very few people.

‘Do you hate your bridesmaids’
‘You didn’t just go on a hen Mexico did you’

these aren’t opinions. They are bitchy put downs

FleurDeFleur · 10/04/2025 20:49

I don't like that one shoulder "Azazie" dress, I think it's tricky because off one shoulder doesn't suit everyone.
It may be the kind of colour the OP wants, though.
There was quite a nice Ghost one upthread and I think they're a reputable company.
