To ask how often you’re complimented on your looks

In particular by people you've just met. Have been out with a very pretty friend who has had men fawning over her/complimenting her whilst I was just ignored as usual. I don't think my physical appearance has ever been complimented by a stranger. Feeling a bit crap. Does this happen to other people?

Mid sixties and I get complimented a few times a week, especially about my hair. It’s a good feeling.

How does it work then, when a stranger comes up to you to tell you you're beautiful or attractive?

Do they shuffle along and sidle up, saying "I just had to tell you how beautiful you are."
That doesn't have the ring of truth to me AT ALL.

Call me arrogant, but I’ve had this happen a lot in the last 10 years of my life (I’m almost 40 now) in a variety of settings, from both men and women. I am not conventionally attractive at all, but I have large interesting facial features and a huge smile which is what I assume causes people to take notice. I think it’s the same reason babies seem to like my face and smile at me a lot!

I don’t consider myself that attractive at all really- I’m overweight and broad and have a big nose- but I can assure you it does happen to people because it happens to me.

How funny I’ve always felt babies seem drawn to my face (when I’m in a group etc) but of course I could just be imagining it. I’m also quite a smiley person. Maybe it’s our smile that attracts babies and compliments 😁

I think friends and colleagues are attractive but tbh who actually tells people? I don't

I love complimenting people! The way someone’s face changes when you tell them they’re beautiful. People really are gorgeous.
