AIBU to have cancelled my Amazon Prime

That's it.

OP posts:
MrsMitford3 · 03/04/2025 21:38

I love my Amazon Prime

Lifestooshort71 · 03/04/2025 21:39

Never had prime so can't cancel. I only ever buy stuff that can be delivered for free to local lockers (and I certainly wouldn't cancel it because I thought it would hit back at Trump!).

Hooliewhat · 03/04/2025 21:39

I think the US has done enough to screw itself over.

Deliveries would cost me a fortune if I didn't have prime. No yanbu

Reducing consumption would save you more

EffortlesslyInelegant · 03/04/2025 21:39

Yeah do it! That'll bloody show them.

LoveDandelions · 03/04/2025 21:40

I mean, I don't pay for it so I don't think it's unreasonable to not need it. Not sure I understand the significance of it being 'American', but if that's a factor for you then it is. It's your decision.

Any good UK owned options?

Yes, I recommend www.TwoLegsBadFourLegsGood.com.

NewsdeskJC · 03/04/2025 21:56

I hate Donald Trump.
Can't bring myself to hate America or Americans though.

Yeah the anti American feeling at the moment generally is quite unnerving. Not everyone voted for Trump and a lot that did were sold a lie. Kind of their Brexit moment

They will be suffering enough before his term has ended.

They have Trump. We had Boris.

It’s not about hating Americans.

But if you can find British or European alternatives, it will help combat the struggle those firms will face because of American tariffs.

Crushed23 · 03/04/2025 22:57

I have Prime for the free delivery. There’s shit all on the streaming service.

CranfordScones · 03/04/2025 23:13

You're being incredibly unreasonable. Poor Little America is a downtrodden victim of the rapacious and oppressive trade policies of every nation on earth. President Trump said as much in that game show pilot Presidential address last night. And now you now want to cancel your Prime membership. Have you no compassion?

Amazon's founder, billionaire Jeff Bezos donated to Trump's inauguration. Trump is destroying the global economy (except for Russia, he's exempted them for some reason).

I don't have Prime and I get free deliveries to an Amazon locker.

Are you under the impression that having Amazon Prime is compulsory? Why do you need to ask the internet, you know youre allowed to make your own decisions for whatever reason you choose?

This. It seems a bit attention seeking. If you want to cancel Amazon then you just do it, you don’t need to tell or ask anyone.

Do you know that mumsnet uses Amazon though OP? Maybe you shouldn’t use mumsnet.

Yes. It's a bit like people who post on social media that they're taking a break from social media for a while, so they won't be around.

Sevenamcoffee · 04/04/2025 07:12

Was thinking about this as well. I’ll probably save money because it’s too easy and convenient.

JudgeMenthol · 04/04/2025 07:36

I cancelled mine last month - in an effort to stop buying stuff I don't really need just because it's free delivery.
I've watched a few bits on Prime, but only subscribe to one streaming service at a time, currently subscribing to the basic Netflix.
Only buy from Amazon when I have enough in my basket for free delivery - so maybe one delivery a month

Mnetcurious · 04/04/2025 07:40

Yanbu. I try to avoid spending any money with those tax-dodgers.

mydogfarts · 04/04/2025 07:49

thistimelastweek · 03/04/2025 21:20

I'm with you OP

And with a bit of research, we've found alternatives that have actually saved money.

Please could you suggest some good alternatives. I want to stop using it but I am disabled and so can't get to shops easily

Starlightstarbright4 · 03/04/2025 21:28

You need to boycott all these too then

Yes, while the Americans claim they have been the victim of globalisation and they need to claim back their benefits. Only idiots believe it and most of them are.

Lincslady53 · 04/04/2025 07:57

Nonsensesponsence · 03/04/2025 21:21

It's American owned.

What Web browser do you use? Chrome? American owned. Bing? American owned. Have you made sure your pension savings are not invested in US companies? Have you stopped watching all US tv programmes and films? Will you refuse to fly on holiday if the plane is a Boeing? Stopped listening to American music? If not, you have only just started.

I think he's going to kill the 4-years-a-term in constitution next. If he doesn't do it, Musk will before he names himself the king of the galaxy.
