Keir Starmer ignoring Mother's Day

AIBU to think it's a bit of a glaring omission?

Nothing on Twix today except something about Ramadan, and an RT about Myanmar.

Lots of upset on there about him ignoring Lent too.

It's probably too late to expect anything now.

What's his objective here? It feels so... deliberate. And bizarre.

Fully expecting some to accuse me of dog whistling. But I'd still be interested in why they think he's done it.

Am looking for the other thread but at 10am I would definitely have given it a bit longer before wondering (or posting)!

If he's not going to do Twitter properly he should probably leave. What could be the aim of feeding different platforms different content?

I did my mum a Facebook post which she saw on Instagram as they are connected.

i didn’t tweet anything nor post on linked in as they aren’t really social posting type places. (For arguing or work)

Not really. I don't need the PM to post about either Mother's Day or Ramadan tbh. Also, as someone has said, probably not him anyway.

Slander? Oh that's priceless.

You're really embarrassing yourself OP. Read the room.

Itwasacceptableinthe80zz · 31/03/2025 08:36

I’m on the other thread about this and was braced for this one to be awful. It’s unbelievable that 1/5 of people agree with OP. But you know what? It’s brilliant that so many have got her number and been so clear in calling out this total shit and dog whistles. I’ll take that.

sussexman · 31/03/2025 08:38

As so many have said, you are being a bit ridiculous about the fact that Keir Starmer didn't post a Mother's Day message on a single platform owned by a man who, among other things, has called for the King to dissolve parliament because he didn't like what our PM was doing. Anyway, I went back to see what his predecessor did last year on that same platform.

As if mother's day is some nationally important event...

You'd hope he would focus on the shitshow that is current world affairs instead of pissing around on X. And that goes for every world leader tbh.

How people even notice this baffles me.

Have you had a shit mother's day or something, OP?

This is such a non-issue, you're making yourself look ridiculous.

I bet you fit in really well on Twitter.

Love this insult!

I think it’s a disgrace, but he seems to be deliberately causing division.

Why do people like you think everything is a disgrace? And for your information he dud post about mothers day, unlike Rishi Sunak last year.

RainingRoses · 31/03/2025 08:43

Slander? Oh that's priceless.

I think you just need to accept that the majority of us can see right through your posts and accept that you’ve got the wrong audience. Maybe join a Facebook group for Reform supporters? You’ll probably your tribe there.

What's the matter with you?? He needs to leave Twitter because he hasn't wished you Happy Mother's Day? This would be hilarious if it wasn't so tragic.

Potsofpetals · 31/03/2025 08:45

Thewholeplaceglitters · 30/03/2025 23:16

Why does he need to mention Mother’s Day? None of us are his mum.

And apparently he did post about it on IG.

Why does he need to mention Ramadan? There is zero need to acknowledge it at any point whatsoever.

LowMode · 31/03/2025 08:46

DangerQuakeRhinoSnake · 31/03/2025 00:28

Maybe some kind of general acknowledgement of the bloody hard graft we put in to raising the next generation? Reflecting for a little while maybe on those mothers we've loved and lost? I'm sure they could have come up with something.

I think he's not a great friend to women and it just would have been nice to see something along those lines.

Hope that explains it to everyone wondering.

I don’t need the PM to acknowledge the work I have done raising my kids.

Why do you?

Does your family not appreciate you? That’s the bit to work on. Not creating a thread of nonsense.

SallyWD · 31/03/2025 08:47

Potsofpetals · 31/03/2025 08:45

Why does he need to mention Ramadan? There is zero need to acknowledge it at any point whatsoever.

Because it's the highlight of the Muslim year perhaps, and millions of British Muslims are celebrating it? It's exactly the same reason he sends good wishes at Christmas, Diwali etc. It's not rocket science. Hard to imagine why anyone would have a problem with this.

CaptainMyCaptain · 31/03/2025 08:48

I'm sure someone else has already posted this but here you are:

Yeh he did not post it to all platforms though. He could have done a text only one for X and it would have saved a lot of gnashing 😄

You seem to be determined to make a big deal out of this. Who are you working for, OP?

bookworm14 · 31/03/2025 08:49

Potsofpetals · 31/03/2025 08:45

Why does he need to mention Ramadan? There is zero need to acknowledge it at any point whatsoever.

Because he is the prime minister of a country with a significant Muslim population. He also wishes the relevant groups a happy Christmas, Hanukkah and Diwali. It’s entirely standard.

luckylavender · 31/03/2025 08:50

I definitely saw his Mother's Day post. Had a picture of him & his wife on their wedding day with his parents.

Potsofpetals · 31/03/2025 08:45

It was Eid which is as important as Christmas for Muslims. They acknowledge all the big festivals- Diwali, Hannukah etc. Only Eid seems to rile people up though!

SapphOhNo · 31/03/2025 08:51

Transparent dog whistle post. He posted just not on the platforms you use.

Read the room OP and maybe get a life?

Lentilweaver · 31/03/2025 08:53

FFS. The world is burning and you are moaning about Mothers Day. Over 1500 people died in the Myanmar quake. 🙄

Potsofpetals · 31/03/2025 08:45

Why not mention it? It's a significant and special time for many people. Acknowledging it won't do any harm. Quite the opposite.

LowMode · 31/03/2025 08:55

DangerQuakeRhinoSnake · 31/03/2025 00:33

@Penguinmouse not on X. There was literally nothing.

We don't all use the same platforms.

OP. My employer stopped posting on Twitter around six months ago. Because of the vile racism, prejudice and unpleasant views displayed and encouraged uncensored on there. It attracts a certain kind of poster, don’t you think?

Maybe that’s why the PM is not choosing to post there. If that is the case, I am supportive.

This is nothing to do with KS dismissing Mothers Day. Stop your silliness.

Yes. I've noticed that.
