To think SAHM with young DC deserve more respect

I work full time but currently on maternity leave looking after my 5 months old baby and a toddler DS who is 3 yo.
I just don't know where my time goes. Between breastfeeding baby, getting DS ready for preschool and tidying up the house, cooking meals etc, it just feels like there is no time at all even to have 5 mins of coffee break. I feel it was much better when I was at work couple of months ago when DS was in nursery that I used to get at least a lunch break for an hour or 30 mins at least or time between meetings to have a coffee and look at my phone in peace. I imagine this is I think how a day looks for SAHM with young DC and it's bloody hard. Many people just assume they are not doing much but I think they deserve more respect.

Well I have never become a "bitter husk" fortunately.

What would you have done if your DH had become a "bitter husk" too?

Nor have I, I stopped before that happened. We would have been bitter husks together I suppose. Fortunately for me he loves his job, being self employed and he is very career driven.

Good luck in your next chapter.

Yeah, thank Labour for that. They promised it.

If there is anything in my life that I'm embittered about, this is that one thing. I am shortly to turn the age my mother was when she died, and I am upset that not only did she not get the retirement she deserved, but I am being denied it too. My mum barely got a retirement at all, and I don't want that for me.

It has nothing to do with my status as a working mother though. I have zero regrets about that.

@mainecooncatonahottinroof - are you ok?

I am staggered by this apparently callous response to my comment that my children lost all their grandparents while very young!

Of course I'm not fucking ok, but we've all just had to live with it.

And yet you were annoyed at being asked of you wanted to be a nurse?
You would have been retired for 7 years by now!
I think this shows that nothing is black/ white
There are ups/ downs/ good/ bad in everything.
