To be horrified that Israel is slaughtering children at a rate not seen for ober

1000 replies

ThisNattyTurtle · 22/03/2025 07:53

Israel killed more children in 15 months than were killed in all the conflicts of the world in the last 4 years combined. Israel is killing children again now at an unprecedented rate and the UK is supporting it with weapons, money and intelligence.
Israel is committing genocide according to the UN, Amnesty and Human Rights Watch. Israel killed 159 Palestinians, including children, during the ceasefire - only 1 Israeli was killed in that time and that was a soldier in a friendly fire event.

Mumsnet HQ there are at least 3 threads about Ukraine still on AIBU, and many other political ones. Please do not hide this topic away in the other section again without at least explaining why UK involvement in the mass slaughter of children is not worthy of the front page. We are supporting a regime much worse than Russia, as much as Russia's regime is awful.

It’s naive to think it is just about land borders.

Jews want to live in peace — in the homeland of their families.

Most Jews in Israel are Levantine. Their roots are there. They’ve always been there.
Zion (Jerusalem ) is where prayers have been directed for thousands of years, just as Muslims face Mecca.

When Jews gather, whether in joy or in mourning, they sing:
Oseh Shalom Bimromav.
It’s a line from the Kaddish — an ancient prayer. For nearly 2,000 years, Jews have said these words.
Oseh shalom bimromav, Hu ya’aseh shalom aleinu, v’al kol Yisrael, v’al kol yoshvei tevel.
“May the One who makes peace in the heavens make peace for us, for all Israel, and for all who dwell on Earth.”

We pray for peace.

And yet, at some pro-Palestinian protests and in Gaza, sung by children we hear:
“Khaybar, Khaybar ya Yahud.”

A call not for peace, but for our destruction.
A 7th-century battle cry, revived with chilling clarity:
“Jews, remember Khaybar — your end is coming.”

This isn’t a cry for justice. It isn’t solidarity.
It’s not even just anti-Israel.
It’s anti-Jew.

I don’t believe this is truly about land.
If it were, peace might be possible.
But when ancient hatreds are shouted in the streets, and children are taught to sing about our deaths this isn’t about borders. It’s about religion. Because while we pray for peace, others are chanting for our death.

Do they want peace ? I’m not sure they do.

Yeah Israelis just want to live in peace while others chant for their deaths. What kind of prayer is it these Israelis are doing?

https://www.pbs.org/newshour/world/israeli-nationalists-chant-death-to-arabs-in-annual-jerusalem-day-march-through-palestinian-area-of-the-city

Or when this mosque was burnt down and 'Death to Arabs' was daubed on it walls? What kind of peace is it that those Israelis were looking for?

Israeli nationalists chant 'Death to Arabs' in annual Jerusalem Day march through Palestinian area of the city

The annual march commemorates "Jerusalem Day," which marks Israel's capture of east Jerusalem, including the Old City and its holy sites sacred to Jews, Christians and Muslims, in the 1967 Mideast war.

https://www.aljazeera.com/amp/news/2025/1/22/mapping-1800-israeli-settler-attacks-in-the-occupied-west-bank-since-october-7

let’s be clear. There is people in Palestine that would want to see Israel destroyed and there is people in Israel that would like to see Palestine destroyed. There is no good country and bad country in this conflict. They both have terrorists/ extremists in their country trying to destroy the other one (including in the governments )

Mapping 1,800 Israeli settler attacks in the West Bank since October 2023

An average of four incidents of settler violence have taken place each day in the occupied West Bank since October 7.

Why would you respect the UN who put IRAN at the head of the human right committee ? I know plenty of Iranian women who would tell you why this is laughable.

Politicalwonderer · 23/03/2025 14:27

I do find it astonishing that people on here (and in general) are so uneducated and seemingly quietly complicit in anti semitism. Hamas, a terrorist group, invaded Israel. Israel has every right to destroy this organisation. Hamas continue to operate bases in civilian bases. The civilians have been given notice of attacks and given options to leave. Children dying in war is horrendous. Hamas have the power to stop inadvertantly killing their own citizens.

I find it astonishing how many people on here are even still, even now, pulling the ‘quietly complicit in antisemitism’ bullshit every single time someone says that the war on the civilian population of Gaza is a disgusting act of genocide. To be completely clear- being utterly disgusted by the actions of the current Israeli government has absolutely zero to do with being antisemitic and it just won’t wash any more.

A lack of respect for Amnesty and the UN is pretty telling

In theory they both sound like wonderful, caring organisations, but the reality is very different. Both have become too politicised.

I used to be a member of Amnesty, but got fed up with their selective criticism of easy targets and ignoring of others. As for the UN, it is beyond me how anyone can have respect for an organisation that repeatedly condemns Israel while ignoring the racist, antisemitic, repressive, homophobic, misogynistic regimes in many other countries; that in 2024 appointed Saudi Arabia to chair the next session of the UN’s Commission on the Status of Women (even Amnesty condemned the decision, citing the country's "abysmal record when it comes to protecting and promoting the rights of women"); and chose, as its first UK Women's Champion, a transwoman.

Respect needs to be earned, not a given.

This wasn’t about Israelis in general, this was more about jews. And to be clear: Israelis aren’t just Jews. Around 20% of Israeli citizens are Palestinian. There are also Druze, Christians, and Bedouins, all living freely in Israeli society.

Now ask yourself — how many Jews, Christians, Druze, or any other minorities live openly in Gaza or the West Bank? I’ll tell you: ZILCH - Maybe a handful of Christians remain and even they’re shrinking.

I’m tired of the endless victimhood narrative — especially when it ignores facts. Yes, there are vile people in Israel, including violent settlers and ultra-nationalists. No one’s denying that. But many of the kibbutzim that were attacked in the October 7th massacre were built on socialist ideals. The people there are mostly left-leaning, secular, and highly critical of the current government. And still, they were slaughtered- because they were Jews.

The deaths in Gaza is what Hamas wanted- it engineered it. Hiding in civilian areas - it feeds you all - poor people - bad Jews. forgive me if I’ve got no time for this kind of performative, Western, suicidal empathy where nuance dies and moral clarity is blurred.

the human cost of war is terrible.War is cruel. Imagine how many Jewish kids would have died if israeli did not build shelters under every home and on every street?

there lies the difference - what we want is life - they seek glory in death. How can you make peace with that?

I used to put money into amnesty. I was a supporter of this respected human rights watchdog. But now? It’s lost its moral compass.
When Jews are raped and murdered, Amnesty stays silent.

When terrorists massacre civilians, they offer “context.”

When it comes to Jews, the bar for condemnation gets suspiciously high.

Respect is earned. And Amnesty has lost mine.

Exactly. The aid poured into Gaza was spent on weapons and tunnels, not on defending or improving the lives of Gazans.

The ignorance, immaturity and performative sympathy of most of the pro-Palestinian protesters is incredible and depressing.

There are very few Palestinians who openly call for peace and when they do, they risk their lives. They’re hunted down, silenced, or killed by extremists. That tells you everything about the environment they’re living in.

Gazans voted Hamas into power in 2006. And while not every individual supports them, polls and footage suggest that many still do — even after October 7th.

From Reuters - The June 2024 poll revealed that support for armed struggle against Israel had risen by 8 percentage points to 54% among those surveyed in the West Bank and Gaza Strip.

This isn’t just about land or politics. The hatred of Jews in that ideology runs deep — it’s been there for centuries. People don’t like hearing that because it challenges the Western narrative, but sometimes you have to face hard truths.

It doesn’t mean giving up on peace, but it does mean being honest about the scale of the challenge — and the danger of looking away.

Do you not know what is happening in the West Bank? Do you think Jewish Israelis are living in some kind of hiding in the West Bank so terrified they set villages on fire and send their children on an annual parade chanting 'Death to Arabs' down the streets that they occupy.

As of 2022, there are over 450,000 Israeli settlers living in 132 Israeli settlements in the West Bank excluding East Jerusalem, with an additional 220,000 Jewish settlers residing in 12 settlements in East Jerusalem.

Your posts are gross. You are attempting to dehumanise Palestinians whilst erasing the violence and terror thay Israelis inflict on them. Pretending 'zilch' Jews live in the West Bank is a new one though I've got to hand it to you.

And here is what happens to Christians in Gaza. It's not Palestinians killing them.
