I’ve been on mumsnet since the early days, it’s seen my family grow up and become adults, seen me become a grandparent.

its been a happy place, a supportive place through thick and thin and I’ve made lots of contacts who I will miss.

the supportive threads are being lost amongst ones of hatred and intolerance for difference, for the others and by threads about high incomes not being enough, of how disabled people are increasingly hated, how children with SEND are an inconvenience. Boomers, of which I am not one, are hated.

is there anybody mumsnet members actually like?

im taking a break, however long is needed until the hatred is less.

Disabled people aren’t hated. The rise in claimants is not supportable.

I think leaving because people are writing about their income not being high enough to cover their expenses, when you presumably perceive it to be fine, is the most bizarre of your list.

What used to be frank and honest advice on MN has just descended into people being nasty for absolutely no reason at all, contributing nothing of value at all to a thread. Just like Surfshoe here.

I get it OP. This place used to be great but every thread has a handful of just horrible replies. And admin won’t change the rules and actually moderate because that would require effort.

I'm with you. I have been here since 2008 with many name changes and have seen a lot of awful postings, but the disability hatred this last week and especially today has made me so so sad and lose so much faith in what I thought was a kind place (once!). Some which have been allowed to stand would, as has been said many times, be immediately removed if they were about race or religion.

Along with other things that are allowed to stand, some basically, horrific, posts from, clearly just...nasty, people; the good is being taken away.
I may just hide everything except for the litter tray!

I don't think the majority of MN have changed much- there are just more vocal troublemakers. For every person wanging on about "benefits scroungers" there are still ten people putting them straight.

MN is really stressing me out today. The ableism is through the fucking roof. It's exhausting to read.

I’m disabled and I want people to be able to talk about the topic freely. I don’t think it helps us to try and quell discussion with nudges like this, OP.

On a side note, I frequently see posts referred to as ‘full of hatred’ on here when they’re nothing of the sort. Usually just an alternative view point.

I have also seen multiple posts deleted for ‘breaking talk guidelines’ when they don’t. It’s just that sometimes, people don’t like reading things they disagree with and so hit the report button and I am not convinced MNHQ read them before deleting
