To report my son as missing?

Wondering when to start panicking? DS 22, hasn't been home since Friday day time. He usually lets me know what's going on. It's not unusual for him to spend time at a friends for a day or two, however I've messaged his closest friends, no one's seen him since Friday. His phone been dead since Saturday morning. I know he's not a child, but he's my son and I'm concerned about his wellbeing. Should I report him as a missing person? Or am I overreacting? I just don't know what to do.

Please be kind, I am currently feel very fragile.

It’s shocking how posters will be nasty to a worried parent.

This is the third thread that I’ve read recently about an OP worried about her adult son and posters have tried twisting things and trying to find holes, just to be nasty.

You sound like a great mum and I’m glad your son is home and physically safe.

LikeWhoUsesTypewritersAnyway · 19/03/2025 19:28

YAY! Glad he's returned home, and is OK-ish! Flowers I see there are some issues and I hope you can all get them resolved. Look after yourself and your son @stucky and you're not a bad mum - or a failure as a parent!

Also. WILL PEOPLE PLEASE READ THE OP'S POSTS BEFORE POSTING?! Just click 'see all' on the first post (or any of their posts.) It's all been pretty much resolved. Her son is back!

Glad he’s back home, OP and I hope he gets the help he needs.

Vodkamummy · 19/03/2025 19:28

He has.
Which you'd know if you'd read the OP's posts.

Lostcat · 19/03/2025 19:29

So glad he’s home OP. You did all the right things. He’s lucky to have such a supportive mum xx

Apreslapluielesoleil · 19/03/2025 19:30

Glad he’s ok. Believe me you still worry about them when they’re 45!

Hope he can get counselling and it helps.

I now don’t believe this post is real.

Agreed. It would be on the news surely? How could a mother have "peace of mind", happily posting on MN whilst her ds has been missing for days and not turned up for work?

Oh FGS, lay off eh? The OP says he is home now, and has explained everything in her last post.

RoastDinnerSmellsNice · 19/03/2025 19:33

I'm SO pleased to hear that your DS arrived home safe and sound OP, you must be incredibly relieved. I hope that he's able to get the help he needs, and life gets better for him.

LunaTheCat · 19/03/2025 19:33

Well done OP. I am glad he is home.
Don’t take the judgments here on board.

Emanresu52 · 19/03/2025 19:34

Good news. You are a great mum.

Aibusadandhormonal · 19/03/2025 19:34

I think you sound like a wonderful mum. I hope me and my kids have a relationship like yours when they are in their 20s. Sounds like it's based on respect and trust. Although I also hope they check in if they're going to be away from home because im not sure id be as calm as you. Even if they don't want to talk yet.
I'm glad he's home x

This …what is wrong with people?

Hazey19 · 19/03/2025 19:35

So glad he is home xx

Mrsgreen100 · 19/03/2025 19:38

Yes definitely report now. Had similar with my 19-year-old daughter. The police were fantastic. Luckily she was found in a pub

Lost20211 · 19/03/2025 19:38

Glad your son’s ok.

Vye1988 · 19/03/2025 19:39

I have not read all the replies yet, but I voted UABU purely based on the fact he appears to have been missing for nearly 6 days! Post implies he lives at home, none of his friends have seen him and his phone has been off so he is not contactable. Please call the police and report him as missing!

Thanksforyourlackofthought · 19/03/2025 19:39

So glad he’s home. I have a 21 year old going through a tough time so I can imagine your fears. Sending you love. x

ImAChangeling · 19/03/2025 19:39

What a relief 💐
