Anyone watched the Gabby Petito documentary

So disclaimer first… I have only watched the first episode. Not worried about spoilers because obviously we all know how the story ends. The story is told from the perspective of people in Gabbys life, her friends and her family.

Whilst it is evident given what happened that Brian is guilty of what he did. Did anyone notice how often Gabby clicked her tongue or rolled her eyes at him in annoyance.

@Worriedsickmostofthetime You're hilarious. 'All sensitive and offended'.

You were pretty obviously victim blaming because a young woman had the temerity to be 'annoying'. I get it; rape myths and domestic abuse myths are embedded in our culture.

It wasn't so long ago that nagging provocation was used as a defence in the UK. The judge and perpetrator would give each other knowing looks as he let him off, because we all know how her indoors goes on.

She must have done something - if she didn't wind him up - if she just kept her mouth shut...

In this thread - if she wasn't so disrespectful - he must have snapped - it's difficult being together 24/7 - she abused him - he reacted to her character...

The fact is he was an abuser and his behaviour escalated to murder. In the UK two women a week are murdered on average and many kill themselves or suffer disabilities because of domestic abuse.

We've only just outlawed the 'rough sex' defence. Men were getting away with murder by saying she consented. You couldn't make it up.

You were brought up in a misogynist society OP, so it's hardly surprising you've internalised it.

Because I am so over explaining to you that I do not condone what BL did nor did I say or infer that her behavior deserved her death.

It is very possible that what I have said is what I meant. It must simply be exhausting being you finding things to be offended about in everything someone says. So yes…. Best to just laugh! Because it’s ridiculous.

Would expect nothing less from a "horrific she was murdered.....but she was a bit annoying tbf" poster.

And you can argue that all you want op but that's what your op, and similar posters comments, have boiled down to.

Same reply as above. You people are exhausting.

Sometimes what people say is exactly what they mean. There doesn’t always have to be some hidden meaning for you easily offended people to latch onto and suck to death. It is ridiculous and deserves a laughing face.

Exactly. And when that didn't run, let's talk about the bereaved parents and whether they've been paid.

It's all so obvious, it's untrue.

Who are 'you people'?

Females? Posters who think it isn't right to demonise a murder victim in the hope she can be blamed to some extent for her death? Or try to start a conversation about the bereaved parents and whether they've been paid?

BustingBaoBun · 17/03/2025 13:14

You said she was 'annoying' and her character would be discussed in court to see if he reacted to her. That infers she deserved her death.

I asked you several times why her character would be discussed in court and you said she was annoying and the court would be shown the same footage.

You were saying that the jury could also find her 'annoying' and give him a lesser sentence.

Worriedsickmostofthetime · 17/03/2025 13:17

Victory to all those who are easily offended and unable to think critically! Well done.

But you can bet your bottom dollar that they would pull up the exact same videos we watched to convince the jury that his acted in a reactionary way and not in a premeditated way.

How strange that you think that calling your "but she was annoying tho" out is a victory.

That suggests it was a challenge to do so, which it wasn't. You managed that on your own in your first post.

Josiezu · 17/03/2025 13:22

I mean, if we wanted to be all sensitive and offended about this can we explore whether we think that Gabbys parents got paid for their part in this documentary? Do we think profiting from your daughter’s death is ok?

where on earth are you going with this one?
Why shouldn’t they get paid from a documentary about their daughter?
Profiting from their daughter’s death? Fucking hell you’ve gone some bizarre agenda. There are countless parents of children who were murdered or abducted who have gone on to make money from books or tv. Why shouldn’t they? Their daughter was murdered by her partners, that doesn’t mean they are owned by the public and everything they do should be from the goodness of their hearts.

Worriedsickmostofthetime · 17/03/2025 13:22

Listen here ladies.

I have said you have debated and won your argument.

I am very clearly a misogynist or have internalized the misogyny in my environment. I believe that woman who click their tongues and sigh deserve to be murdered. I believe that BL is not guilty by virtue of the fact that he was provoked.

There is my confession. Now please take your little victory flags and move onto the next post.

Lady that does not mean I agree with it! Because I say they would do it (which they would!) does not mean it is right. I think I even said that.

You started a thread on a young woman rolling her eyes and giving sass to a man who went on to murder her. You said that the jury would be shown the same footage in order to lessen his conviction. Inferring that he couldn't help himself because she was 'annoying'.

It's been said on this thread that she was an abuser and he probably snapped. These are excuses for his behaviour.

Sane people think he could have left if she was so annoying.

Ladies, I live in a country where a woman is raped every 12 minutes and I myself live behind burglar bars because it is just not safe. You cannot convince me that I am a victim shamer or don’t understand how awful men can be.

You will literally have to accept that I, on a Sunday afternoon, watched a documentary on Netflix for its interest value on a case which got global attention. I was genuinely surprised that the producers showed a side of Gabby which had not been portrayed at all. That of someone who didn’t seem all that happy to be in her van, was often displeased with her boyfriend etc. The documentary did not explore more of this.

I mean, if we wanted to be all sensitive and offended about this can we explore whether we think that Gabbys parents got paid for their part in this documentary? Do we think profiting from your daughter’s death is ok?

I think you're last question is too far and so irrelevant to your initial question its hard to understand your motive.

And for the record, do we even know if they were paid and if so, who cares. I'm sure they would rather have their daughter back.

Why are you personally attacking everyone, I have been perfectly polite to you. You don't need to alienate yourself from everyone posting. You are entitled to your view but so am I.

If you were doing it on purpose to wind people fair enough, it wasnt obvious.
