Anyone watched the Gabby Petito documentary

So disclaimer first… I have only watched the first episode. Not worried about spoilers because obviously we all know how the story ends. The story is told from the perspective of people in Gabbys life, her friends and her family.

Whilst it is evident given what happened that Brian is guilty of what he did. Did anyone notice how often Gabby clicked her tongue or rolled her eyes at him in annoyance.

You were pretty obviously victim blaming because a young woman had the temerity to be 'annoying'. I get it; rape myths and domestic abuse myths are embedded in our culture.

It wasn't so long ago that nagging provocation was used as a defence in the UK. The judge and perpetrator would give each other knowing looks as he let him off, because we all know how her indoors goes on.

The fact is he was an abuser and his behaviour escalated to murder. In the UK two women a week are murdered on average and many kill themselves or suffer disabilities because of domestic abuse.

We've only just outlawed the 'rough sex' defence. Men were getting away with murder by saying she consented. You couldn't make it up.

There are countless parents of children who were murdered or abducted who have gone on to make money from books or tv. Why shouldn’t they? Their daughter was murdered by her partners, that doesn’t mean they are owned by the public and everything they do should be from the goodness of their hearts.
