Bit embarrassing … or am I being over sensitive?

OP posts:

Didn't it all begin with the mention of the tall, skinny person who had to wear a size 14 coat because of her unusually large (but hidden) pelvis?

Ah, thank you for clarifying! These kind of threads can steer in some strange directions at times.

PonyPatter44 · 15/03/2025 20:41

Ritzybitzy · 15/03/2025 20:14

Regardless UK 14 still large.

Could you just take your eating disorder somewhere else please?

MyLimeGuide · 15/03/2025 20:44

Arraminta · 15/03/2025 19:09

Shame, you could have put together a quick PowerPoint to inform us all.

In the spirit of the thread can I announce that apparently I have a very shy cervix as told to me by my midwife. Something to do with it tilting backward and slightly to one side?

Do you have to wear extra small clothes to accommodate?!😂

cunningartificer · 15/03/2025 20:45

Sounds like the lovely colleague I don’t regret no longer working with. I invested in a smart suit (dress for the job you want etc.) and she commented “oh that’s just like the outfit my mum wore for a wedding”. We were similar ages and I was fairly sure it wasn’t a compliment or indeed true. She was the one who also called me a nickname that I specifically asked people not to use because she “forgot”.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 15/03/2025 20:47

I must apologies for my part in this. Didn't mean to offend. Sorry.

(The quote didn't attach, but I'm sure it's easy to know the reference).

MyLimeGuide · 15/03/2025 20:49

Ritzybitzy · 15/03/2025 20:32

Not really unless you’ve cleared 6 foot.

Someone else made a reference to a size 14. I replied. Everyone else got offended.

I think everyone is just annoyed that you are saying things that simply aren't true. To say height has nothing to do with body sizing it is ridiculous!

seven201 · 15/03/2025 20:49

Not over sensitive at all. I pictured a "whose coat is this? Size 16, black, from next" type comment. What you describe is just plain nasty. Designed to make you feel shit.

MsKirby · 15/03/2025 20:53

If your not happy with your size, do something about it

Teateaandmoretea · 15/03/2025 20:54

Ritzybitzy · 15/03/2025 19:41

14 is absolutely large. And indicates at a minimum overweight unless you’re 6’2. You can kid yourself it’s not but that doesn’t alter that it is.

🤣🤣🤣🤣

The average adult IS overweight anyway.

A 14 coat is perfectly reasonable for me within the top end of green, however.

(Eyeballs DH), to see if he's a UK size 14 😂

JHound · 15/03/2025 20:57

Your colleague sounds like a See You Next Tuesday. What possible reason do they have to do that?

What? Recognising what is a healthy weight and size now equates to an eating disorder? Don’t be ridiculous.

Where have I said anywhere that height is nothing to do with body sizing? Please don’t try to undermine with blatant lying.

Whose unhappy with their size? The thread is about being unhappy with a colleague from hell.

Well, you can't tell. But I suspect that that's when you look at her from the side. Straight on, it must be obvious.

She must be a school crossing lady.

(Yes, happy to concede that I'm having much too much fun with this. My excuse is that I have a fuck of a lot of important and lucrative work to do, and we all know how that goes.)

How dare you.

This is absolute nonsense. A size 14 doesn’t indicate you’re overweight - you have to factor in bone structure and shape. You also have to factor in that a size 14 from one manufacturer may differ from another. This is the kind of thing that causes eating disorders.

greengreyblue · 15/03/2025 21:10

Depends totally on the context.

Except it isn't. Just to bitchy people looking to fatshame someone.

BigBoden · 15/03/2025 21:15

It was mean. I am a 32F
No one says who owns this tiny size 8 coat…
I could wear an 8 but firmly in size 12 for my girls.

Ritzybitzy · 15/03/2025 20:32

The original poster was fatshamed by a horrible colleague. You likewise are fatshaming people for being a size 14 which is 4 sizes smaller than OP when size 14 is not a large size and doesn't become one just because you keep saying it is.

WearyAuldWumman · 15/03/2025 21:16

As a teenager, I was a UK size 14. Height went from 5ft7 to nearly 5ft9 once my growth stopped. My weight was mainly 9st 2lbs(At one point I dieted down to 8st 10lb and there were fears that I was heading for anorexia.) I certainly wasn't overweight.

No. Your kind of thinking is what causes disordered eating and a nationwide obesity problem. 14 is very rarely anything that other than overweight.
