To think that men believe everything on IG/Tiktok is real

It takes seconds for influencers to edit/facetune their body, making waist narrower skin smoother etc, eyes bigger nose smaller etc…. It’s just as easy to edit videos as images.

But there are so many men who seem to simp over TikTok influencers when it’s not even the ‘real’ them… do these men really believe what they’re seeing is, well, real?

I don't think they care either way.

EveryKneeShallBow · 11/03/2025 18:00

YABU. Not just men.

toomuchfaff · 11/03/2025 18:57

What difference does it make, let then live in a world of make believe. Simpletons will stay there. Anyone worth their salt isn't in that mindset

YABU. Not just men.

I know women believe it too, but the believing has a different effect. For men, they simp and comment, ‘perfection…10/10… etc’. Women look and think, ‘well I look rubbish in comparaison…’, even though they’re comparing themself to Facetune…

There are millions of men living in a world of make believe though…. And wondering why women in real life, even naturally attractive ones, don’t look like a filter

Why are you only talking about men? Haven't you noticed the amount of women getting work done so they look like influencers?

KIlliePieMyOhMy · 11/03/2025 20:32

All those men think the exact, same way.

Leafy74 · 11/03/2025 20:33

I think you are underestimateimg the damging influence this world of shite has on women and particularly young girls.

AllProperTeaIsTheft · 11/03/2025 20:36

It's hilarious when men comment on Instagram, saying 'This is what real beauty looks like - no need for make-up or having work done' etc when the woman in the photo is clearly wearing a face full of make-up, has had fillers and has filters on!

Yes, they get the work done because they feel that is what they need to look good, which is fuelled by the men simping over it.

@AllProperTeaIsTheft And has Facetuned her body

@Leafy74 No I am not underestimating it, I’m acknowledging it - I’m talking about the stupidity of the men who believe fake (ie facetuned/filtered) TikTok videos are real, and how that impacts women.

Women believe the crap they see too so why is only men you assume?

Fair point.
But the impact these men have on women is nothing compared to the damaging impact these influences have on young girls.

As I said in another reply though, the effect of believing it is different for women. It makes women feel less than, men idolise edited videos and simp over them

You sound incredibly insecure.

Even more insecure than people on social media who edit their photos.

Go and touch grass.

BatchCookBabe · 11/03/2025 20:56

Of course it's not just men! Women (some of them) think that the Insta pics they see of 'stunning' women are real. Like it's what they really look like.

Hint: it's not.

Case in point... Kim Hall. The lass who is being charged with smuggling drugs. Lots of women on her Insta thought she looked like Pic 1.

She doesn't. Nope. Not even close!

Instagram (pic 1) vs reality. (pic 2.)

To think that men believe everything on IG/Tiktok is real

No man I know does this. Maybe you should try and get to know some better men.

Of course they don't believe it. They'll waffle on in the comments because they're horny, and hopeful they'll get some interaction back 🙄

Men have always done similar - it's no different to pin up girls from years ago.

MeAndMyCatCharlotte · 11/03/2025 21:00

Not the intelligent one. Years ago, my exH used to point out to me how much Photoshopping there was in my Avon catalogue!

ghostyslovesheets · 11/03/2025 21:19

But men (and women) have eyes! They go out and about in the real world and see actual real humans - it’s like saying everyone believes all women look like Hollywood stars

some people are daft enough to believe everything they see in SM and ignore reality it’s on them - the only exception being young people who we need to have regular conversations with about the none reality of 90% of SM as parents

CrystalSingerFan · 11/03/2025 21:34

Interesting question. What does 'simping' mean in this context? Is it short for 'simpering'? (Old single woman here.) Or something else... (I'd rather not Google😅)

Jabberwok · 11/03/2025 21:54

No man I know (and I am one) finds the following attractive
. Slug eyebrows
. Brazilian butts
. Lip filler
. Ridiculous large artificial breasts
. Orange fake tan (in fact I heard two lads about 20 laughing about the skin tone a young lady had achieved yesterday)
Ie everything the op says men like. Sadly it young girls believing they should look like that because of influencers.

A lot of it comes from misunderstanding of what a lot of black women in the USA have been promoting, that shapely bottoms and bigger lips are as attractive as more "standard" ones. i.e. The image that the fashion industry has been promoting for ever .... That the idea woman is white and size 0. Even when using models of colour, they have Caucasian features.
