To think that men believe everything on IG/Tiktok is real

It takes seconds for influencers to edit/facetune their body, making waist narrower skin smoother etc, eyes bigger nose smaller etc…. It’s just as easy to edit videos as images.

But there are so many men who seem to simp over TikTok influencers when it’s not even the ‘real’ them… do these men really believe what they’re seeing is, well, real?

I know women believe it too, but the believing has a different effect. For men, they simp and comment, ‘perfection…10/10… etc’. Women look and think, ‘well I look rubbish in comparaison…’, even though they’re comparing themself to Facetune…

🙄 yes all men do this, every single one of them. All of them. They all believe it. Not only that, they all truly believe that perfect woman is there for each and every one of them.

Disturbia81 · 11/03/2025 22:01

What I've found.. is that some men seem to love these thirsty fake pics. And it's pathetic. They live in la la land.

But most men realise this isn't real. They are out and about and see what real women look like, and don't expect women to look like those pictures. They know it's separate and they feel very attracted to normal women. They even acknowledge that the ones who get work done like lip fillers might look good in a photo but most men don't like the done look in real life.

I go out with my unsmooth skin and bumpy figure and get plenty of attention and offers. No point feeling insecure about it

HangingOver · 11/03/2025 22:01

The amount of men posting drooling comments on AI models on Instagram does make me laugh, they even say that they're AI in the bio!

DdraigGoch · 12/03/2025 00:08

men idolise edited videos and simp over them

If anything the ones I know think that the fad for false eyelashes, lip fillers etc. makes women look ridiculous. I don't know what sort of men you know.

Maria971 · 12/03/2025 00:15

Leafy74 · 11/03/2025 20:49

Fair point.
But the impact these men have on women is nothing compared to the damaging impact these influences have on young girls.

I think they both have an impact - the influencers themselves, and the men who follow them and simp, because the mens' reactions have an effect on women. If the men were like, 'well that's all airbrushed, it's not real', it would be different.

@Disturbia81 That's true, by 'not real' I meant the videos and images are all edited on Facetune...

Not necessarily men I know personally, but men I see online. There are thousands of TikTok influencers with huge boobs (some fake, some real), the tonne of make up, hair extensions etc, plus filtered, plus the obviously facetuned waist/hips (yes you can facetune videos too, easily)...and they have thousands of male followers.

You must know some decent men with half a brain.

@HangingOver Well the Instagram/Tiktok models edit their photos and videos, so they're not too far off AI anyway!

If I were you I'd just spend less time online. As you've seen yourself, online doesn't often reflect reality so this applies to the comments' sections too.

Hugsbunny · 12/03/2025 00:33

How do you even know what proportion of followers are men? The whole fake look isn't attractive to any men I know, not to say there are some but definitely only a small proportion. I'm pretty sure the whole desire for fake tan/false boob thing is entirely female driven.

Snorlaxo · 12/03/2025 00:34

Those men know deep down that filters /AI make their fantasies seem real and they are fine with that. Remember that there’s men who get turned over anime.

Maria971 · 12/03/2025 00:35

@Hugsbunny I assumed that many of the followers are men because most of them comments (though there aren't that many comments) are men writing, 'perfection', 'future wife'...😂Also because these women get their boobs out and try to dance around/act sexy in the videos, I think some men do follow them for that.

I know there's anime, but I sort of see that differently as it's very obviously a cartoon and make-believe. Whereas with actual human beings in a Facetuned/edited video, some men could think that's really, well, real...

What does simp mean?

SabrinaToolmaker · 12/03/2025 00:43

I think some men do find that look attractive. I remember that man with the stupid hair on Married at First Sight talked about “unreal” brunettes, which I think meant enhanced lips and boobs and all the rest.

Floatlikeafeather2 · 12/03/2025 00:46

All the men you do might, OP, but I don't know a single man who does because I don't know a single man who goes on Instagram or Tiktok. That should balance it out for you.

Maria971 · 12/03/2025 00:46

@SabrinaToolmaker Yes, the type of man that idolises this look tends to love the word 'unreal' 😂Some slim women do have naturally big boobs, but the rest is all fakery...

Maria971 · 12/03/2025 00:48

@Floatlikeafeather2 How old are you, if you don't mind me asking? I'm 28, and the vast majority of millennials and Gen Z go on Instagram/Tiktok. There are actually lots of men in their 40s, 50s, 60s following these fake women as well....

There are millions of men living in a world of make believe though…. And wondering why women in real life, even naturally attractive ones, don’t look like a filter

Yeah but the men who belive this toss aren't the ones worth having in your life anyhow, they're simpletons at best, incels at worst.

Leave them there in a world where no one will interact with them unless they pay.

People exist who don't fit this narrative. It's likely you're swayed by one who does but he's trash, sorry to say.

Has someone rejected you recently or something because your posts are coming across as intense and not natural? I can't put my finger on it

lastminutetrip · 12/03/2025 07:59

My friend makes subtlety edited photos of herself, I can tell because I’ve either seen the original, was with her and she’s cut me out of the photo, or you can see the warps in the background.

even mutual friends cannot tell. I have asked them. They also think mine are edited because I’m one of those adults that gets mistaken for a very short and studious 12 year old and ID-ed in Iceland.

I know, but men go out in the world and realise that women walk around without the smooth skin, pinched in waists, massive boobs and massive eyes and lips.
Tbh the simps you talk about are not the kind of man you'd wanna be with. Makes them easy to avoid.. when I meet a man I always check the kind of thing he posts

KIlliePieMyOhMy · 12/03/2025 08:19

I think the phrase 'all men' or even 'all women' should be banned.
Of course they don't all think the same. This is mass othering.
