AIBU to feel outraged that Kyle Clifford is able to refuse to attend court today?

I am absolutely outraged that Kyle Clifford can choose not to attend court to hear his sentence and be forced to listen to the impact statements being read out by John and Amy Hunt. I'm literally sitting here crying with rage and sadness right now listening to their words. He should be dragged there and forced to listen, he lost all rights when he committed rape and then murdered three women in cold blood. Why does he even have a choice?

Definitely, they seem like that sort of toxic family. Her actions are unforgivable regardless
of her misguided loyalty. She protected him at all costs.

I found it interesting that the press showed footage of him taking his small niece out to the garden centre before the murders. I dread to think how that little girl is being raised, with such a dysfunctional family. I hope she is getting external support cause she’s otherwise going to be taught that her killer uncle’s actions are acceptable and that women are lesser than men.

All the children within that family should be removed. Two murdering brothers and a sister who turned a blind eye to criminality. This shows kids are not safe around these people and will be a danger to others eventually.

Kyle will spend every day in a living hell and I love this for him.

I have already posted on this thread about how the man who attacked me shouted at the judge while he was making his sentencing remarks and how unpleasant it was. When he was released half way through his sentence (which has always happened and is not connected to the current govt) he then failed to abide by his parole conditions and vanished. I will never forget probation phoning me and telling me to get home asap as they did not know where he was. They had drawn up an exclusion zone to protect me but of course people like that do not care about such things. Anyway he was caught and sent back to jail and denied further parole applications. He completed the sentence for the offence against me and guess what? he committed further crimes and has been back inside at least twice. I know this because it gets reported in our local news and they always mention that he is a convicted sex offender . Some people cannot be rehabilitated. He is in his early 30's now and will be causing misery and harm for at least the next 30 years. Of course I am not in any way comparing my experience in any way with the incomprehensible suffering of the Hunt family, I am just reflecting on the fact that some people are for whatever reason unreconstrutable

@fashionqueen0123 Many of the high profile instances where they refuse to attend court did involve whole life sentences eg Wayne Couzens. They don't want to attend court because of the high publicity and there's high publicity because the crimes are so heinous. Prison privileges is not in the judge's gift.

It would be nice if people actually spared a thought for the family and what they're having to deal with. You know, considering it's their grief, not anyone elses. But no, this is MN after all. 🙄
Yes, it's perfectly fine to be shocked, disgusted and all the other emotions that come with such an horrific crime, but no need for the grief vulture pile on!
Just have some consideration for the family left behind, that might be nice.
