AIBU to feel outraged that Kyle Clifford is able to refuse to attend court today?

I am absolutely outraged that Kyle Clifford can choose not to attend court to hear his sentence and be forced to listen to the impact statements being read out by John and Amy Hunt. I'm literally sitting here crying with rage and sadness right now listening to their words. He should be dragged there and forced to listen, he lost all rights when he committed rape and then murdered three women in cold blood. Why does he even have a choice?

BreatheAndFocus

He could refuse to be put into his wheelchair. The judge said it wouldn’t be right to use restraints on someone in a wheelchair, which implies it was hoped they could put him in his wheelchair against his will and strap him in so he couldn’t try to throw himself out.
Yes, he should be in Court, but he’s clearly a snivelling coward. I doubt he’d shout, unlike AR, but even if the guilty person did, they could be placed in a soundproofed Perspex box to hear the statements and verdict so that any shouts wouldn’t interrupt the proceedings

He could. Not much he could do about it if two prison officers picked him up and put him in it. I think the judge is wrong.
Personally, I wouldn’t be averse to a gag, either.

Human rights? Sorry, you gave those up when you adopted inhuman behaviour.

Feel sorry for the officers in prison who have to tend to him daily.
Does he need help with everything eg showering, dressing, imagine having to tend to him.
Does someone have to.push him round the prison as well.
I don't believe that he wanted to die after he'd killed them.
He lay in a graveyard waiting gor the police to come.

You'd have rushed to the nearest train station and jumped or jumped off a very tall.building if you wanted to be certain of killing yourself.
You wouldn't hang around.

Does anyone know if the full sentencing remarks have been posted online?

Yes, check the BBC news website . There was a live blog .

I don’t see what good it would do.

Axel Rudakabana shouted all the way through the victims’ statements; it must have been awful for them.

The last thing I want is to be flippant about such a serious and horrible act but do you imagine he didn’t know the pain he inflicted, mental as well as physical? That’s why he did it in the first place. I hate the change to that law, it’s an easy win for politicians wanting popularity.

Play the sentence in his cell on a loudspeaker where he can't get away from it then.
It's only right that somehow he should have to listen.
We really are so freaking soft. He's wielded his power right until the end.

They also execute people by firing squad. Some of the violent fantasies here are very disturbing.

Are you in all seriousness reading this thread, and from that, determining as your primary reflection, that the females on here describing rather mild violence quite frankly in response to this guy's ongoing abuse is a problem?

Could you discern that females here are not actually going to make up placards with images of his limp dick being zapped to oblivion with electrodes, and then go protest in order to enact this legislative change they're envisaging? ( See what I did there 😉).

Can we discern that this is not a 5 year old child. That this is a scary male, a representation that ignites alot of fear in women, and that a sense of control is regained in processing and discussing justice fantasies.

I've watched too many horrors if you think our scenarios are disturbing 😬😆.

I know that we were on different sides on the death penalty thread, but I fully agree with you here.

The reality is, they aren't going to. It's hard enough to get that level of support in hospital, seriously. He's going to be on his own with that.

I am hoping that someone puts him in a cell and plays those words to him so he has no choice but to listen. He can't disrupt then but has to hear the damage he's done.

Yes this needs to be played on loop.

Gag him, then he couldn't shout.

Are you volunteering to be the one to fit it, and will you be expecting paid time off and compensation if he bites you badly enough?

MJconfessions · 11/03/2025 17:32

This is the most disgusting crime I have come across. Kyle tortured Louise to an unbelievable extent. She was aware that he murdered her mum. Louise was killed next to her mother. Whilst he had restrained and raped Louise, she was likely wanting to check on her mum and seek medical help for her? I can’t fathom what Louise must have felt.

I noticed that he had 6 crossbow bullets. I think his game plan was to murder the entire Hunt family as he had just enough bullets for all of them & him. I don’t think he ever genuinely wanted to kill himself; he was only going to doing something to himself if he got caught. I reckon he purposely shot himself in a non-fatal manner, given he knew exactly what would have been fatal force.

One thing I find unnerving is how calm and soft spoken he seemed to be in the CCTV footage. A true psychopath

Wishyouwerehere50 · 11/03/2025 17:33

@Lalgarh I wonder how life is for their mother. I won't jump to the assumption this is all her fault in any way shape or form. Not without sufficient facts.

What an outcome for her.( If she's around). Horrible and horrendous if she is not the same as these two men.

Yes, check the BBC news website . There was a live blog .

I saw that but it seemed to be snippets as opposed to the full remarks. Usually a full statement and video is posted of everything the judge concluded.

edit - telegraph has the video: https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2025/03/11/kyle-clifford-crossbow-sentencing/

It was said he thought about burning the house down bit changed his mind.....

How on earth did he have 2 other women on the go as well, what was the attraction?

AnAlpacaForChristmasPleaseSanta · 11/03/2025 17:37

It's also chilling how he had asked if John was home when he went to the house, googled if there was any horse racing taking place that day and then text him from Louise's phone to ask when he'd be coming home. As if 3 victims from the same family weren't enough. And as JH said in court, if it weren't for Hannah's strength and bravery it may well have gone that way.

How does he manage himself in a wheelchair if nobody helps?

Getting into bed and out, showering etc?????

I think quite a lot of disabled people are able to do that sort of stuff independently. It's a learned skill obviously but they find a way.

UraniumArthur · 11/03/2025 13:59

I get why he's not forced to attend but I do think he should be made to listen to the victim impact statements. They address him directly and I think it's important (for the victims) to know he has heard what they want to say to him.

Personally, I find some sad satisfaction in knowing he will spend his (hopefully very long life) paralysed from the chest down and hopefully in prison. I hope he has many, many miserable days ahead of him, staring at a cell wall.

I'm not proud of feeling that way and realise it's some misplaced need for vengeance but he is an evil little coward. A more worthless 'human', it is hard to imagine.

I agree. The dickwad didn't manage to finish himself off. I'm glad he's paralysed and I hope he is left to rot. Can't stop thinking about those poor defenceless women.

PeachPumpkin · 11/03/2025 17:41

I do wonder if some murderers would just get a kick out of the impact statements.

Very possibly.

JHound · 11/03/2025 17:43

Out of interest - why does it matter? Why has it elicited this response in you?

I just want him in jail for life - the reality is him hearing the sentencing or not doesn’t really impact anything does it?

I can easily imagine how he had a plethora women on the go. He is not hideous and as we see the dating bar for men seems to be in hell.

Those other women had a lucky escape.

Yes - luckily Hannah interrupted his plan. He didn’t foresee Hannah walking in at the precise moment he killed Louise. As a result, Hannah was able to raise the alarm.

After he attacked Hannah, he likely realised she already called for help which is why he went on the run and abandoned the rest of his plan. I think he would have interfered with the CCTV at least, had he not been spooked.

In terms of attraction, he’s been raised in a household where he felt he was god’s gift. He was likely confident and charming when he wants to be. I have to question the values in his own family and the role they played in all this? It is concerning that his brother is also a callous murderer that they didn’t condemn. Seems the sort of culture where men can do no wrong.

ElbowsUpRising · 11/03/2025 17:56

With his disability will he be in the general prison population or will he spend his whole sentence on some sort of more cushy medical wing?

I get he isn’t ill but I assume he needs care of some sort and sadly it will probably be decided he needs to be protected from the general prison population as he can’t defend himself against attacks.
