Why are (some specifically mine) men like this?

DH has gone out tonight okay fine, asked me to drop him off but forgot to tell me about the football match so spent 40 minutes in traffic with two kids ... fine whatever, he could have gotten a taxi tho 🙄

Refused to take the keys because he'd be back at 12 (been out since 5) as he knows I can't go to bed without locking the door as I don't feel safe sleeping with two kids and the door unlocked.

Hasn't messaged me since 10pm

Wonder when he'll get home .. wonder when I'll get to go to bed.

Bet he expects me to get up with them tomorrow as well Hmm

I was highlighting your mistake when presumably trying to use the word pandering, after your oddly aggressive response to a totally valid query from another poster.

(Pandying is a regional term for smacking a child. I can’t imagine that’s what you meant.)

Edited

I wouldn't call any of my responses 'aggressive '

I think that's in your head

I’ve also found your posts aggresive, and dismissive.

With the “enjoy the sunshine” like you’ve dismissed that poster from posting anymore.

IDoWhateverItTakes · 09/03/2025 11:32

So OP was awake until at least 2:30 to accommodate this man-baby she's married and had children with ... and it will be on her to get up early with the DCs despite staying up to let the arsehole in.

Honestly. Why do women put up with this shit? And what an example for their children about how men can do what they want and women have to put up with it...

Lovelysausagedogscrumpy · 09/03/2025 11:34

Do you have any reasonably priced and available hotels/motels near you ? I know it’s a bit late for that now but if it happens again, at the first sniff of him being late, I would take the kids and have myself a night away. Lock up and take the keys with you. He can knock, bang, and generally create all the mayhem he wants then, and you don’t have to deal with it.

Don’t be “pandying” to them 🤣🤣🤣🤣

I’m wondering why this poster thinks that a smack across the palm of the hand will stop men entering womens’ toilets !!!

feelingalittlehorse · 09/03/2025 11:41

Been to many a social occasion in my life, of varying types. My house keys have attended 100% of them. Didn’t stop me from having a pleasant time.

RIGHT stop the pile on.

It comes across as bullying.

Pandying is a local saying perhaps? "Cow towing"maybe ?

Just leave me alone FFS. You are allowed to disagree with me. I don't object to that.

Dissecting, analysing my statement, trying to get me to admit my opinion is wrong is not diplomatic behaviour.

When you see umpteen other posters have already piled on - why keep @ ing me and continuing to harass me?

You've made your point. Now move on.

Porcuporpoise · 09/03/2025 11:43

Nah I'm still here watching Ms Maloprop make a spectacular of herself (see what I did there).

Halloumiheaven · 09/03/2025 11:44

I won't be responding any further to what is now clearly a 'pile on ' by some posters.

It's so ironic that I'm labelled as the 'aggressive' one.

Gosh this thread took off more than expected - I was just tired and pissed off last night.

He saw that though and did get up with the kids this morning but does keep complaining about how hungover he is but 0 sympathy.

He is in general a good dad and does a lot of the cooking and cleaning as he's a SAHP.

I don't know about the key thing but it's not happening again, I'll take everyone's advice regarding this.

Pandying is not a "local saying" . The word is pandering. No biggie but also no need to double down.

Please do. Also - listen to the good advice on here. Raise your standards. He's not "a good dad" if he behaves like this. Your children need a better father and role model.

Where I live 'pandying ' is used synonymously with 'pandering' . Country location. Local dialect.

Do you pick on other less white collar areas that don't speak RP English either I wonder. Perhaps you should write to the BBC on their 'pidgen english' articles (look it up) but no, I don't suppose you'd dare pick on that demographics use of language.

How snobby and pious.

I'm out.

if he does get up with them he'll just be miserable and probably fall asleep watching them so it's better I get up

Your words last night, he is being miserable with the children by moaning about his hangover! Like they should care? They

How dare he!

Could you actually sleep knowing all that was going on with your children? Knowing he’d fall asleep?

Honestly OP, he’s not a “generally good dad”, stop down playing his behaviour.

Disturbia81 · 09/03/2025 11:58

Key safe or put them somewhere hidden in garden, he shouldn't be making you stay up like that. Most of us end up staying out longer than we intended

Halloumiheaven · 09/03/2025 12:05

For all the deeply unpleasant bullies piling on me for a) my opinion and b) using a word they haven't heard used locally (who clearly knew what I actually meant )

Take a look at BBC 'pidgin english' articles. Would you be so snobbish and picky to a Nigerian who used those words ? Thought not.

Thanks to the 'likes' on my messages that aren't visible to those attacking me. I suppose nobody dares put there head above the parapet on here sometimes.

Oh, OP. Please remember that you are both modelling behaviours, standards and responses for your children. They’ll take their cue as to what is and isn’t acceptable from you both. I hope this proves to be a one-off, but things like this rarely are. I suspect that he was testing a boundary here.

Usually been bought up by pandying mothers...

And allowed by pandering wives.

@TakingBackSunday woman up.

tell him he can take a cab, tell him you’re locking up and he needs to take his key or stay out.

stop putting up with this shit.

JHound · 09/03/2025 13:07

His refusal to take keys instead expecting me to stay up and wait for him would absolutely infuriate me.

I would leave him locked out. His refusal to take his keys is idiotic.

Nodddy · 09/03/2025 13:13

Put his keys in a safe place.

Text him where they are.

Go to bed, white noise on. Done.
