WTF, love triangle, affair or not, there is zero excuse or reason for a headteacher (or any member of school staff) to bash another person's head in with a spanner in front of the kids.

The poor kids in that class are going to be traumatised from having witnessed a violent attack, as are the kids in the rest of the school, all of whom will know the head and some of whom will know the teacher who is now in hospital. They will be worried about the injured teacher and very confused and horrified by the actions of the head. The school staff are also going to be shell shocked.

What a horrible, horrible situation. And that the head preplanned attacking the teacher at school and in front of the kids is just unthinkable.

Some people seem to be treating this a fun event to gossip about which is unacceptable.

That would be a one sided crush.

A love triangle is where all parties are romantically entangled.

I wouldn’t necessarily trust the DM to use the right terminology!

MrsSkylerWhite · 08/03/2025 12:11

Blimey. Nowt so queer as folk. Hope your kids are ok.

I get quoted alot when i say i hate schools and im not keen on teachers.
This is why. We are ment to trust these people with our kids.

Using an extremely rare issue with a teacher is a pretty poor justification for not being keen on teachers. He didn't carry out the attack because he was a teacher, thats a very warped leap imo

The headteacher will definitely not be returning to his role will he and quite rightly. He is obviously unstable and has committed a criminal offence. I find it abhorrent that he became jealous when he found out the woman he was having an affair with was cheating on him, despite the fact he was cheating on his wife. And then to fly into a rage and try to (it seems) kill someone in front of the children he’s meant to protect. I’m unsurprised that op is upset.

The deputy and female member of staff have also played a part in bringing the school into disrepute, through unprofessional conduct, particularly in a RC school. They have been named on social media. I see them resigning before they are pushed. I hope the deputy makes a full recovery.

That makes it sound more like the ravings of somebody in psychosis, rather than two of the victims in this 'bringing the school into disrepute', especially with the other posts about other people alleged to be 'at it'.

It's not unprofessional conduct to be a victim of crime, whether it's due to somebody with mental capacity or severe mental illness (which is where I suspect this will go).

tinytemper66 · 08/03/2025 13:03

It is such a sad situation. The teacher who leaked the email from Doc should be punished. I feel sorry for his wife. I went to the school and my children were taught by him.

The idea that the Daily Mail has used any kind of formal definition in order to report this accurately as a "love triangle" 😂

Those of us that are local, know the individual involved through education are horrified. As a teacher in a Catholic school, and as someone who knows the attacker, I am aghast.

People or men?

People. The girls' secondary school in my town recently had an incident with one of the female teachers grooming a pupil there.

WaryCrow · 08/03/2025 13:16

It’s purely anecdotal but I’ve come across far too many men in teaching who are misogynistic bullies. Men have an easy pass in teaching and it’s clear that men disproportionately end up in high positions in a female-dominated profession. I don’t know what the numbers are relative to misogynistic men in the general population - that would be good to know.

He must have had some sort of breakdown, it was obviously out of character. That doesn't make it any less dreadful for the poor woman he attacked and, up to.a point, witnesses but could explain his behaviour.

tinytemper66 · 08/03/2025 13:34

It was another male teacher...
I think he had a breakdown too but it doesn't take away what he subjected the other teacher to. I am not sure if there were children present but if they were that it so traumatic for them.

healthybychristmas · 07/03/2025 23:37

The female teacher is going to find it very difficult to keep her job isn't she??

Why? She didn't attack anyone with a spanner. Her love life is no one else's business.

Foostit · 08/03/2025 14:56

IButtleSir · 08/03/2025 08:40

Eh? It was a teacher who was attacked! Why on earth do you think teachers would be defending this?

@IButtleSir because it’s MN and everything topic remotely connected to schools is twisted into a dig at teachers!

IButtleSir · 09/03/2025 08:05

PreventPomtoPerson · 08/03/2025 09:06

Nobody said they weren’t allowed to have sex. But teachers are supposed to be professionals and when relationships with colleagues (whether extra curricular or not!) spill over into professional lives as per the “love triangle” mentioned in the press, it becomes an issue.

It only became an issue when a man decided to attack someone with a spanner!

Out of interest, how many other teachers do you know who have bashed someone's head in with a spanner?

Do you also hold all doctors responsible for the actions of Harold Shipman?
