I will eat a whole packet of biscuits, is that normal? Food nosie

If there are sweets or something in the fridge I really like, I will eat them all in one sitting.

Packs of six pack crisps don't last more than two days, I can't stop eating biscuits and even savory food I will pick at it.

Is this normal or does everyone have to control themselves?

I once ate 48 packets of crisps in 3 days 🤷🏽‍♀️

No need for sugar in a pizza you make yourself.

The base turns to sugar in the body. Flour. No need to add sugar

Why? Because she's got self control?
Why ask if your over eating and lack of self control is normal if you're going to give catty replies to those who don't feel the need to gorge on biscuits?
I think you'll find many people would be far more miserable being out of shape and sweaty....especially in summer!

Ilovecakey · 07/03/2025 22:45

Not biscuits no but chocolate and crisps yes! I think it's normal but I try to eat healthy as well and make sure I eat fruit and veg

Charlize43 · 07/03/2025 22:45

Chuchoter · 07/03/2025 21:53

I don't. I have self control. If I didn't I wouldn't buy food that I knew I would eat in one go.

I've kept slim all my life as I have a greater desire to maintain my figure than I have to satisfy any taste.

I do eat whatever I want but I just don't eat a lot of it.

As Kate Moss is attributed to saying (may or may not be true) - Nothing tastes as good as being slim feels.

Are you sure she said 'as being slim feels' and not 'Cocaine'?

I seem to remember she was well known for hoovering it up.

sometimesmovingforwards · 07/03/2025 22:46

Why do you care what’s ‘normal’? Are you looking for justification or something? Just own your actions and be proud!

Personally I wouldn’t eat that much shit because I don’t want to fuel my body with low quality food or look like a fat lard arse. But what you do genuinely doesn’t matter to me so crack on.

I suffer from food noise - but deal with it by not having food I shouldn’t eat in the house

But then you can just do an uber order to get it so not having it in the house isn't an easy solution these days when things are so easily available nowadays

If it's a shop bought pizza it's full.of sugar. So are crisps, bread etc.

Jumpingthruhoops · 07/03/2025 22:49

Sorry but not remotely normal. I'd say you need to look at portion control, this can't be good for your health.

PinkiOcelot · 07/03/2025 22:51

Why is it now called food noise?!

INeedAnotherName · 07/03/2025 22:53

JorgyPorgy · 07/03/2025 22:20

Yes it’s this. Crisps are simple carbs which. convert quickly to sugar in the body which I think is why they’re addictive as sugary foods. I think you’ll find if you stop buying it , make some switches like having a couple squares dark chocolate, fruit to satiate the cravings, the cravings will get less. Trouble is it’s easy to fall off the wagon again. I eat biscuits & cake & a bit of choc most days, I need to get back on the wagon !! You’re not alone or greedy OP, just addicted !

Well no wonder i can't stop eating crisps now I've managed to stop the chocolate binges. I thought I was after the salt 😮

DeffoNeedANameChange · 07/03/2025 22:54

I often feel like I'm totally out of control around food, but in reality I never binge like that if there's anyone looking, so I guess I'm more in control than I like to admit. But yes,six pack of crisps no problem, family size pouch of maltesers, full pizza etc etc - I'll just eat until it's finished.

Even now, after being married for 15 years and eating pretty much normally the vast majority of that time, I will still always eat completely differently if my husband's away. In fact, if I'm completely honest, I plan/buy specifically for it.

Less likely these days it's really expensive to order in like that

My sister and I both have food issues. I am a recovering anorexic and she is like you, if she has something she will eat it all.

We both have physical illnesses as a result.

And for both of us, its because of the controlling nature of our mother with regards to food.

Newfoundzestforlife · 07/03/2025 22:55

PinkiOcelot · 07/03/2025 22:51

Why is it now called food noise?!

It must be the new politically correct term for good old fashioned....greed.

Idontjetwashthefucker · 07/03/2025 22:56

I ate a full pack of jaffa cakes earlier, fucking delicious they were too.

No, not overweight or a lard arse...couldn't be arsed cooking and they were in the cupboard

RedVanYellowVan · 07/03/2025 22:57

Not normal for me, I have no idea if it is normal for other people.

My view is that we only get one body and one life. I'm not going to deliberately fuck that up by eating a load of crap food.

A bar of chocolate usually lasts a month or two. Crisps are so vile they are not worth buying, just greasy chemicals and not a lot else.

A friend says I have a lot of willpower. I don't think that's true, I just love the feel of my size 8 skinny jeans being loose on me. Generally I don't eat after 5 pm.

Each to their own, although I think junk food should be heavily taxed to support the NHS.

NameChanges123 · 07/03/2025 22:57

It's certainly not healthy. I'm the same. Once I start, I just don't stop...

TheTerribleMaster · 07/03/2025 23:01

I really struggle with food issues. I think about food all the time. I am the opposite of the Kate Moss quote, being slim could never bring me as much joy as food does! I've been slim, lost a lot of weight through calorie control and it was the worst year of my life. I was hungry and sad and irritable. And I looked great but for me, being slim was so pointless because I didn't enjoy life! Having to count every fucking calorie is no way to live, but it's the only way I'd ever get to be slim forever.

I wouldn't eat a whole packet of biscuits, but I do think about food All The Time. I definitely need therapy around my food issues. But as I'm not obese (I am overweight) there's no help for me!

I wish I could say that I preferred being slim over enjoying food, wouldn't that make life so much easier! I want both - a slim healthy body, and to be able to eat what I enjoy. But I can't have both, and food ALWAYS wins.

PickyTits · 07/03/2025 23:02

Interesting how it's acceptable to shame Kate Moss for the way she looks, which as others have pointed is in part due to addiction (cocaine/nicotine). Try shaming other peoples bodies for their food addictions and all hell would break lose. It's funny how body positivity only works in favor of fat people, skinny/slim people are acceptable targets as usual on Mumsnet 🙄

Did you mean that to sound so self righteous?

I hope not.

I think you’re right.

RedCatBlueCatYellowCat · 07/03/2025 23:09

Everything in moderation, including crisps, chocolate and alcohol. Nothing to excess.
I enjoy food, but as the child of obese parents, only one of whom is still alive and suffering the consequences of their weight, I prefer to have self discipline.

Chuchoter · 07/03/2025 23:11

I'm not miserable. Maintaining my figure has been easy, I'm fit and active and feel great. I never have to worry about what clothes to wear as I can't wear most things.

I eat whatever I like and never deny myself anything, I just don't stuff myself like you have admitted to doing so!

Christmasbear1 · 07/03/2025 23:12

I am the same. It's not as simple as stopping. Voice in your head telling you to eat constantly
