I will eat a whole packet of biscuits, is that normal? Food nosie

If there are sweets or something in the fridge I really like, I will eat them all in one sitting.

Packs of six pack crisps don't last more than two days, I can't stop eating biscuits and even savory food I will pick at it.

Is this normal or does everyone have to control themselves?

Such a “mean girl” response because someone disagrees with you 🙄

AquaPeer · 07/03/2025 22:10

I don’t think there is anything wrong with eating a pack of biscuits

you’re overthinking it and letting the orthorexics get to you

And wtf is food noise any way? An excuse to abdicate responsibility for overeating I guess?

GlitteryUnicornSparkles · 07/03/2025 22:11

I’m exactly the same, I definitely have a sugar addiction. I’ve decided to try giving up sweet stuff (choc, biscuits, cake) for lent to try help me break free!

Sulu17 · 07/03/2025 22:11

if I really like the food, I will eat it all in one go until none of it remains. I mostly try not to buy the biscuits, sweets and cakes that I love.

Itiswhysofew · 07/03/2025 22:12

Yep, I could eat all day and night. Could demolish a packet of biscuits in one sitting, no problem, and still want more. I don't do any of that because it would make me feel really greedy.

I am not blessed with a fast metabolism, and had to diet from a young age.😫

SAH07 · 07/03/2025 22:12

I am/was the same easily eat a packet of biscuits in a sitting. Some posters on here are saying it's not normal or greed. However, I'm taking mounjaro now and can have 1 or 2 biscuits and no longer want any more. The off switch is flicked. People who don't have that switch will never understand. I never knew what it felt like, and quite strange to have felt both feelings now. The thought of eating more than 2 biscuits makes me feel sick. I know it won't last once I stop taking mounjaro

Bit harsh about Mossy!

fashionqueen0123 · 07/03/2025 22:15

A whole packet of biscuits? Like say a whole packet of 20 odd digestives/rich tea/oreos etc good grief no! That’s not normal at all.

mathanxiety · 07/03/2025 22:15

AnneLovesGilbert · 07/03/2025 21:56

No she doesn’t. She enjoys food but doesn’t eat more than she needs to.

But she also takes the opportunity to make someone else feel inadequate - "I have self control". Doesn't bespeak a happy person, imo.

stargazer02 · 07/03/2025 22:16

Sorry some people have been so rude OP.

I think it's normal for some people but certainly not healthy, which you are obviously aware. I dont know anyone who binge eats broccoli. Some people will not appreciate the difficulty in deciding not to have that extra biscuit (or 5) and how all consuming the thoughts are. Just as some can't understand addiction to alcohol or drugs.

There is help out there - searching binge eating will bring you up lots of information (the quality will vary of course!). I've had moderate success with some therapy. Many people (including me) have turned to the jabs you may have heard about - mounjaro, wegovy.

I suspect what I feel now is what normal feels like. The thought of eating a biscuit crosses my mind, I have to make sure I firmly decide no, and the notion goes by me. Before I would fiend for it. It would consume my thoughts. Pretty sure if I started tucking in without thought it would not end well, even on the jabs. It just takes away the intensity.

Ohdeardearme · 07/03/2025 22:16

This was one of the news stories on the radio today. Apparently some humans and all ( I think) labradors have a gene which means they can't regulate their appetite. They just need to keep on eating till everything available is gone!

Chuchoter · 07/03/2025 21:53

I don't. I have self control. If I didn't I wouldn't buy food that I knew I would eat in one go.

I've kept slim all my life as I have a greater desire to maintain my figure than I have to satisfy any taste.

I do eat whatever I want but I just don't eat a lot of it.

As Kate Moss is attributed to saying (may or may not be true) - Nothing tastes as good as being slim feels.

Kate Moss's words were 'nothing tastes as good as skinny feels'. Not slim. Skinny. And she got a lot of criticism for it. It was a really stupid thing to say.

magicstar1 · 07/03/2025 22:18

I had food noises too. If there was a bar of chocolate in the cupboard, I would think about it constantly until I ate it. Same with biscuits, cake, basically any nice food in the fridge. I didn't know this was abnormal until I took my first weightloss injection and the thoughts just disappeared. Now I don't think about food until I'm hungry, and it goes when I've eaten.
For all the people making snarky comments, they've obviously never had this. It's horrible, but you don't know it's there until it's gone.

OfNoOne · 07/03/2025 22:18

I'd have a few squares of chocolate, or one/two biscuits, or a small packet of crisps, and not want any more.

Mumoftwinsandasingleton · 07/03/2025 22:20

My fear would be diabetes! I could never do that! Please think about the sugar content. Being aware of health risks and living a balanced lifestyle does not mean you're miserable. I know extremely miserable people who eat a lot as part of a coping mechanism for depression

JorgyPorgy · 07/03/2025 22:20

Theunamedcat · 07/03/2025 21:58

It's a suger addiction your not the only person with one

Yes it’s this. Crisps are simple carbs which. convert quickly to sugar in the body which I think is why they’re addictive as sugary foods. I think you’ll find if you stop buying it , make some switches like having a couple squares dark chocolate, fruit to satiate the cravings, the cravings will get less. Trouble is it’s easy to fall off the wagon again. I eat biscuits & cake & a bit of choc most days, I need to get back on the wagon !! You’re not alone or greedy OP, just addicted !

If you eat a whole packet of biscuits in one sitting you probably do need to adopt a bit of self control…
