I will eat a whole packet of biscuits, is that normal? Food nosie

If there are sweets or something in the fridge I really like, I will eat them all in one sitting.

Packs of six pack crisps don't last more than two days, I can't stop eating biscuits and even savory food I will pick at it.

Is this normal or does everyone have to control themselves?

I fear that most people can control themselves op 😬😄

You're not alone though, I absolutely cannot and don't keep biscuits in the house for this reason

Chuchoter · 07/03/2025 21:53

I don't. I have self control. If I didn't I wouldn't buy food that I knew I would eat in one go.

I've kept slim all my life as I have a greater desire to maintain my figure than I have to satisfy any taste.

I do eat whatever I want but I just don't eat a lot of it.

As Kate Moss is attributed to saying (may or may not be true) - Nothing tastes as good as being slim feels.

It's normal for some and not for others. I don't really feel that way, my partner does. It drives me nuts as I can't leave anything in the house without it being decimated. A bar of chocolate which always me a week will be gone in 5 minutes if he finds my hiding place.

Have you been through any stress? I comfort eat so know not to have them in

As a child, for me, my dm was the same, so any biscuits would just be eaten in one go, nothing would last, which is where I maybe get it from

DazedDragon · 07/03/2025 21:55

That is not normal at all.

Quite disgusting. Why would you want to put that much junk in your body?!?!

It's a sugar/fat addiction.

I'd suggest not having junk like that in the house.

She sounds the happier of the two of you.

DelilahBucket · 07/03/2025 21:55

The food is designed to be addictive. If I'm going to have crisps I try to go for the ones with minimal or no ultra processed ingredients, same with sweet stuff. Otherwise it's easy to overeat.

No she doesn’t. She enjoys food but doesn’t eat more than she needs to.

JaceLancs · 07/03/2025 21:56

I suffer from food noise - but deal with it by not having food I shouldn’t eat in the house

Arcticrival · 07/03/2025 21:56

How old are you?

I relate. Always the same whether cake or alcohol. Not an issue in my 20s or 30s when I never put weight on.

Hit menopause and it's a whole different game. 4 stone on. Food noise constant.

Been on wegovy 6 months. Lost 2.5 stone and food noise disappeared.

And this.

Covertcollie · 07/03/2025 21:57

Is ‘food noise’ the modern, trying-to-be-more-socially-acceptable phrase for insatiable greed?

And allegedly a drug habit at various points in her life she isn't aspirational

Theunamedcat · 07/03/2025 21:58

It's a suger addiction your not the only person with one

TheKeatingFive · 07/03/2025 22:02

I don't get the biscuits thing. I'd eat one or two biscuits. I just wouldn't want any more.

Crisps are a different story though.

ChaosDream · 07/03/2025 22:03

Yes I understand this. Almost feels like I had no "off" switch. We never used to have treats or junk food in the house when I was little (in the 80s) and I suppose as an adult I took full advantage of being able to eat what I wanted and as much as I wanted. I have it under control now but I relate to what you're saying. I think there's a name for it but I can't remember it off hand...

VivaLaSpag · 07/03/2025 22:04

Not normal for me personally, but like another poster mentioned I also live with someone who will happily hoover up anything in sight just because it happens to be there.

I eat because I feel hungry. When i’m not hungry I don’t think about food-wouldn’t cross my mind to eat unless I was actually hungry, and I stop eating when I’m no longer hungry as opposed to when I feel full.

However, I am very partial to hormonal sugar cravings and as a result I don’t buy sugary snacks. If you don’t have biscuits and crisps and general crap in your house then you can’t eat it 🤷🏻‍♀️

PabloTheGreat · 07/03/2025 22:06

I'm not a massive grazer but if there's snacks there I'm inclined to forage in the evenings so for that reason I usually only buy treat stuff for us once a week and when they are gone, that's it until the next week. Maybe if they were there all the time I might get worse at snacking.

But I don't think I could manage a whole pack of biscuits in one sitting.

I lost my sweet tooth a year so so ago when we eliminated any UPFs and additives like sugar that was feasible for us.

Except for her taste for cigarettes and Cocaine
