To suspect the "deal" between the US and Russia Greenland for Ukraine?

1000 replies

FancyRedRobin · 05/03/2025 09:02

The way things are shaping up I'm beginning to think the USAs negotiations with Putin were for USA to stand aside and let Putin have part of Ukraine and for Russia to support the US to take Greenland.

Trump doesn’t even allow reporters into his press briefings unless they agree with him - it’s a dictatorship.

Agreed, putin.2

Trump would jump so high to anything Doug demanded when the lights go off in America. America would shut down with no electricity or oil or potash.

You seem to have a very isolated view of politics outside of the US.

Computer says no, and no trump would not jump, trump is frank underwood incarnate

LovingHare · 06/03/2025 19:26

As for oil and potash, America has vast domestic reserves and alternative suppliers. Cutting off exports would be an inconvenience

BIossomtoes · 06/03/2025 19:26

LovingHare · 06/03/2025 19:13

The difference between the two powers is that while both pursue self-interest, America despite its flaws still operates within a framework that allows dissent, political shifts, and alliances to evolve. China’s model, by contrast, is rigid, authoritarian, and built for long-term entrenchment.

This laugh is exceedingly hollow. 😹

A hollow laugh doesn’t change reality.

I was briefly concerned that Trump was going to kick off WW3 but he seems to be squaring up to virtually every nation on earth right now and he can't take them all down. Vance is another kettle of fish, sly and dangerous but Trumps ego will dispense of him before anyone else has to.

LovingHare · 06/03/2025 19:28

the ability to criticize, protest, and even vote out leadership (however imperfectly) is what separates American self-interest from China’s iron grip.

These so called reserves are not readily available - industry would come to a halt and food production reduce drastically.

Food production and industry wouldn’t cease instantly logistics would adjust, domestic production would ramp up where possible, and new agreements would be forged.

Claiming that Trump runs a dictatorship because some reporters were banned from press briefings oversimplifies the reality.

Yes, certain journalists and outlets were barred at times, but this wasn’t unprecedented, nor was it purely about silencing dissent it was part of his broader strategy of controlling the media narrative, a move that many politicians (on both sides) have attempted in different ways.

If it were a dictatorship, dissenting media wouldn’t exist at all.

Trump, is that you?? Or a relative?

Well people want democracy, not echo chambers unless im mistaken and here it is debates from a different view other than trump is bad (even if he is) its still all valid points ive been debating about.

He’s dangerous because his grasp of world politics is incredibly poor. He thinks America is the greatest and everyone will do as he wants. He’s crashing the American economy and their jobless figures are soaring.

Just another American man with an ego the size of a planet mansplaining the world to a lot of silly little British women. So many of these at the moment. It’s very tiresome.

Trump’s approach to world politics is unconventional. His America-first strategy isn’t about assuming everyone will fall in line it’s about forcing better deals through leverage, unpredictability, and pressure.

You're overly invested to the point you're arguing against absolutely every point anybody makes. I highly suspect you're connected in some way.

its called offering a different view point and im only offering debate to those that offer their points first , unless you prefer trump is bad and down with the system ? if people dont want to debate with me then why debate with me when responding to my posts ?

OneLemonDog · 06/03/2025 19:34

Honestly, I wish you pro-expansionist Americans would go find some other site to post on.

You're the enemy, we get it. We sure as shit don't want to hear your attempts at justification and you're deluded if you think you're winning hearts and minds, quite the opposite.

All I can think is that, deep down, you know that your country is on a dire trajectory and you're looking for Europeans, Canadians and whoever else to tell you "we understand and accept it".

We don't and we won't.

im taking part in a good political debate on a thread that people have made some good points, all i offer is a different view, unless mumsnet is only one view allowed and that view is trump is bad ? what happened to debating and democracy looking at the political reality of the situation ?

It’s so laughable how he’s failing at everything - he’s alienated most of Europe with his treatment of Ukraine, he’s fuelling Israel to destroy what is left of Gaza, destroyed any support from his closest neighbors. I’m hoping the UK withdraws the invitation for a state visit and we don’t let him into the country for G7 summit - convicted felons aren’t welcome.

Robust analysis 💯

I disagree that it is a robust analysis. It is actually a one-sided opinion piece of US propaganda.

Not satisfied with a hit and grab manoeuvre in Ukraine, Trump wants to do the same to Denmark and Panama. Brazil has huge deposits of rare earth minerals, so will that be the next move?

Trump's desire for American world dominance is a threat to world peace and risks making WW3 a reality as he abandons traditional allies for a new BFF, Russia.

WeirdyBeardyMarrowBabyLady · 06/03/2025 19:36

@LovingHare you're doing a stand up job of patronising contrary views and defending Trump's actions to the hilt but, as you may have picked up, we don't agree with your assessment.

Any claim that the USA may have had to be the good guys is long gone. Trump devalues and demeans his office and the reputation of the US - a country I have loved for decades - with every turn.

if the world wants to dismiss America’s role on the global stage, then good luck with NATO when the tanks start rolling from russia.

The U.S. has been the backbone of Western security for decades, pouring billions into European defense, keeping Russia in check, and preventing conflicts from spiraling out of control.

Let’s not forget that without America, Europe would have had a very different outcome in both World Wars. Heaven forbid the U.S. decides it’s done carrying the burden because when the storm comes, those so quick to criticize might find themselves wishing they had a superpower on their side.
