Really awful.

My lovely dupe has been doing really well for some years. Maybe one day I might consider one LC as some colours and shapes are really stunning

They are so heavy though I barely use mine as a result.

I had one once many year’s ago, an orange saucepan, but it was so heavy, never mind when it was full of something, I’d said I’d never have one again.

I don't really have much interest in MM or the Royal Family in general. But I don't understand why people hate her. It can't just be that you're not enamoured by her new programme. Please answer honestly: what's she done? Can someone seriously explain it to me, in with me asking in good faith, what's she done because it doesn't seem to make sense to me.

I think it’s envy, she’s gorgeous & has earned some say around 80 million pounds (!) when the Netflix crew are doing most of heavy lifting. It’s a ton of money (!) & all she needs to do is waft, look beautiful & hold jam & a pretzel. Go her! :)

Different things for different people. For me I just don’t trust what I see or hear. I think she is spiteful and she’s simply not my type of person. I don’t hate her, I just don’t particularly like her, like I dislike various other (male and female) celebrities. Although I criticise her if I feel it’s warranted I’m not a vitriolic hater who piles on her because she breathed the wrong way.

TheMeasure · 10/03/2025 18:46

For me, I don't like either of them for the way they trashed the global reputation of my country, accusing us (and then making some half-arsed retraction) of being inherently racist.
I don't think much of them for publicly disrespecting their families in the way they did and for making the Queen's final months unnecessarily stressful (with Harry all the while trying to make out he and the Queen were close and that he deemed himself responsible for "checking she had the right people around her." The arrogance!)
I hated the way they threw shade at the Royal Family with nearly every sentence they uttered both in the Oprah interview and on the Harry & Meghan documentary. Didn't (couldn't bring myself to) read Spare. "I have huge compassion for Camilla, being the third person in my parents' marriage." Yeah, right.
Meghan irritates me intensely with her smug and syrupy, "I have the best marriage/kids/life in the world."
Nothing whatsoever to do with envy!! I wouldn't swap one tiny part of her life for mine (OK, maybe some of those bracelets).
Yet I was thrilled when they first got together and me and my girlfriends sat watching the wedding wearing hats and drinking fizz. I still remember the shock I felt at her Tom Bradby interview in South Africa and it went downhill from there for me.

I really don’t think it’s envy. There are female celebrities who are rich and gorgeous who I have really liked over the years. I can certainly envy the outside views she must have from her own gardens, if this rental is anything to go by but I don’t think that’s the sort of envy you are meaning.

But why, and please don't consider this question rude as you appear reasonable and measured and I'm genuinely asking, do you consider her spiteful? Because you don't know her. She could be. Or not. Who knows? I read about her and see comments, and the vitriol towards her (and I'm not singling you out - you just responded) astonishes me.

Then what is it? I'm genuinely really curious. As, I'll be honest, don't find her anymore offensive than any other 'celebrity' but she provokes an enormous reaction. She taps into people's psych but I'm not sure why.

The Oprah interview was full of spite, fully intent on hurting people. She lied in the interview and complained about some really petty things with her stern face on. The Tom Bradbury Not many people have asked if I’m ok, when she clearly did not care if the Queen or Prince Phillip, or Catherine were ok, with her sad face on. The spiteful digs in the Cut with the veiled threat of not having signed an NDA in the RF so could still talk if she so wished, the dagger look she gave her mother when she dared interrupt her was quite revealing, never have I given my mother such a look and she could drive me up the wall. The pushing, pulling, tugging of ‘H’ to get ahead of him in any group situation, seriously who does that to their husband or partner, do you? I could go on as there’s an awful lot but for me I find her spiteful, attention seeking and to be frank, a bit odd.

Oh and her support of the Sussex Squad is really vile in my opinion. They are a horrible bunch of people who I could never support yet she does quite openly.

I think personally gardens are stuff of dreams. There’s poss a feeling in CoL crisis it’s all a bit, well, undeserved & people are upset re: perceived disloyalty to Queen, possible disingenuous nature too. So it’s all of it & do shows really pay out that sort of money? She’s certainly a lesson in tenacity & ambition.

Because she never stopped complaining, for years. Have you not seen some times the way Harry looks absolutely fed up to the back teeth of her. If he can feel like that then it’s not surprising other people who witness her behaviour can also feel like that (and we have witnessed it).

All the nonsense about Diana having a special, beyond the grave connection with her (as told by Harry so not our imagination) yet recoiled like Dracula meeting the sunrise when Drew Barrymore showed the photo to her. Why such a weird and awkward reaction?

There must be something in it as a lot of people have avoided interacting with her (the Christmas carols before we even knew who she was, no one wanted to be with her, definitely something going on there, Serena’s mum ignoring her at Wimbledon). It’s not just the general public who get bad vibes from her.

LipglossAlly · 10/03/2025 19:22

I think people are not genuinely able to give an answer. The answers provided are just non based on facts and logic.

To illustrate
1)"they trashed the global reputation of my country saying that we are all inherently racist" - when Henry was asked by Oprah whether he thought the British Public was racist he clearly said that the British public is not racist, the Media is( " straight out of Compton anyone?)

  1. Making the Queen last days unnecessarily stressful - Not sure about that - this is proved by the fact that not only there were invited to the Jubilee, but there were provided with the privilege of them having their own procession( the system really values these sort of things). We also have accounts of Harry, the kids and his grandparents face-timing. I think that the year Charles and Diana divorced would have been a far more stressful year for her( 1992 was defined by her as "Annual Horribilis") not talking about Andrew. These two events had really the potential of bringing down the monarchy.

  2. Meghan irritates me immensely with the smug syrupy " I have the best marriage and kids" - no comment

  3. She is spiteful - examples please.

At the end of the day people are going to think what they want to think. For the life of me, I just can't t comprehend why you would be so invested in a person that you are supposed to dislike so much.

We are not given clear answers based on facts on what caused this intense disdain and most importantly people claim to despise this lady and to love the RF.

However, they are always in this woman's s threads.
They put themselves through a show they don't like " whilst hating every minute of it" just to hate- watch this woman and then come on these platforms and create another thread ( we have 3 or 4 thread on the brand As Ever).

Why not allocate all of this energy to the RF then?
Why not create more threads on their latest engagements, charity endeavours, Royal fashion I don't know.

There are public figures that I dislike. I might comment on them here and there. However, the number of threads created on one lady alone is just out of normality.

Why allocate so much time to people you don't t like?

As soon as they see a modicum of positivity directed at this woman, some posts literally lose their minds. They take it as a personal offence, and this is not normal behaviour ,and more and more people are seeing it and calling it out.

There are celebrities that I do not like, but I realise that not everybody has my point of view on things. If another person likes said celebrities, I don't take as a personal attack.

As I have said, I will not be going back and forth on the RF because I am bored, but ask yourself why am I allocating so much energy and brain space to a person that I dislike. Especially when said person is outside of the Royal Orbit and is doing her thing. Why just not let it go?

Then what is it? I'm genuinely really curious. As, I'll be honest, don't find her anymore offensive than any other 'celebrity' but she provokes an enormous reaction. She taps into people's psych but I'm not sure why.

I think for many people it's something like what's been said above:

For me, I don't like either of them for the way they trashed the global reputation of my country, accusing us (and then making some half-arsed retraction) of being inherently racist.

In some people's minds individual members of the Windsor family = British monarchy = "my country"= "us" . So H&M criticising a couple of comments that someone made has turned into an enormous mass insult.

For some people as well the royal family is the best thing about Britain. Meghan had a taste of royal life and said no thank you. She will never be forgiven by some for this ("uppity American pleb, who does she think she is?" sort of thinking). There is absolutely an element of racism in the hatred but I think it's mostly classism, misogyny, nationalism and anti American snobbery.

That's why the hatred is so visceral. These people feel personally insulted. They want Meghan put her in place (ridiculed, abandoned and humiliated) and Harry to crawl back to the UK begging to be forgiven. So every time that Harry and Meghan turn up in the media doing their thing and looking happy, it throws more salt into this imaginary wound.

I don't identify my sense of personal worth with the British royal family so the above seems bonkers to me. I am a republican and at this point I quite frankly feel sorry for the royals - their lives seem so messed up and miserable. I think there are many many good things about the UK and many many good people in this country, and for me the monarchy is nowhere near the top of that "good" list.

I feel fairly neutral towards H&M, which of course compared with the "my country" people must make me a paid PR person.

But at least it makes sense in my case.
I like Meghan, I like the programme and I allocate time and space to something/ someone that I like .
Why can't you just do the same?

TheMeasure · 10/03/2025 19:43

I absolutely do NOT want Harry back in this country, crawling or otherwise.

No visceral hatred here, just an overall exasperation and irritation. Nor am I anti-American - I used to live in California and have spent many holidays on the East coast also. I count many Americans amongst my dearest friends and love them for their warmth, generosity and friendliness.

And I stand by everything I wrote above - they had to be invited to the Jubilee but even snubbed that by fucking off early and missing many of the main events.

Harry attempting to backtrack on the racism accusations by blaming the British press was laughable and Tom Bradbury's look of incredulity when he made the claim spoke for the entire country, I think. "Straight outta Compton" was ONE headline and, as with Danny Baker's dreadful monkey slur, was universally berated by an appalled nation showing, I think, how little Brits will stand for it.

Why are your mind and energy not directed at actually supporting the RF? This is what I don't understand.
I am going to have my point of view and you are going to have yours.
No matter how many threads are created here, at the end of the day those who want to support MM and buy into her brand will do it regardless (both in Britain and most importantly abroad).

At this point why not just let it go? Why waste that much energy? This is something that I will never be able to comprehend.

TheMeasure · 10/03/2025 19:53

LipglossAlly · 10/03/2025 19:44

You can do both 😁. Despite what some people on here think criticising the Sussexes is not an all encompassing, taking up all your time and brain space activity. You can criticise them and still live a normal life with work, family etc. Not everyone is feverishly tapping away in a basement.

I’m usually doing something else when I’m on here, maybe having a breather from watching a tv programme or have music videos on Youtube. In the time it’s taken me to watch two and a bit episodes of WLM I have binge watched 2 whole seasons of Netflix’s Alice in Borderland. When I compare the enjoyment factor of watching these almost simultaneously, one I raced through and the other is like wading through treacle and I may very well not even finish it.
