But JFC it's absolutely awful.

"Come and watch me make the most basic of crafts while telling me how much you admire me, and I gently patronise you"

Really awful.

Fair enough.

What do you think are it's strengths as a TV program?

Apart from being predisposed to like it.

Most people feel the same way. But I separate those feelings from the fact that her programme is basically SHIT.

But isn't her house sparkling clean? Thank the cleaner! Apparently me!!

There's no strengths as such. It's easy watching. Like all programmes like this. I am a good cook but my presentation is rubbish, I might pick up some good tips!

People are flawed, people make mistakes, some of the people within the institution are probably not good people (like in any other settings).

But Meghan and Harry are utterly perfect, though, amirite?

I do feel really sorry for them though, such an unlucky couple surrounded by so many terrible people that they had to cut out of their lives suddenly and completely. All of Meghan’s family save for her mother and a niece, even those who Meghan had been close to earlier in her life and had helped out her early career. Meghan’s closest friends from school and her time in Toronto. The friends she made in London when she was trying to build a career there and her UK manager. Most of Harry’s oldest British friends and his family - except curiously his Uncle Charles Spencer, who on paper at least looks like one of the world’s arseholes! The people at Spotify who looked to create sucessful podcast with them, and unaccountably weren’t impressed with them and were willing to say so publicly. The numerous, numerous employees in London and the US who were, apparently, lazy racist, mentally frail, not up to the jobs (maybe look at your interview skills, Meghan and Harry?), unwilling to stay more than a few months, prone to weeping at their desks and even telling journalists they needed therapy, and with an unfortunate memory for the actual truth when Meghan is trying to mislead the court …. So, so unlucky.

We're all flawed in some way

Megan's naive belief she could somehow emancipate him is so fucking ridiculous but also understandable.

This is exactly the kind of misplaced narrative that fuels so much of the never-ending vitriol against Meghan - people refusing to actually listen to what she has said, and what Harry himself has said, repeatedly. Harry had long wanted out (see multiple interviews and articles from well before Meghan). It was his idea to push for a hybrid royal role, and his decision to leave entirely when that failed—driven by his own fears and experiences.

And yet, despite Harry being vocal about his unhappiness in royal life for years (even before Meghan), she was still framed as the mastermind who “trapped” him. When they left the UK, Harry explicitly said it was his decision - but Meghan still gets the blame.

Meghan really tried to make it work, but she was about:blank always scrutinised and found wanting. She was constantly accused in the press and here in many deleted threads of breaking protocol (nail polish, crossing her legs), of being too ambitious and outshining senior royals (see Together cookbook and Smart Works). She and Harry said they wanted privacy, but people twisted that to mean they wanted total invisibility - even as other royals manage their own boundaries without the same kind of backlash (there are some grumblings in the press about the limits the Wales' set on them and the children but there is nothing like the same sustained attacks on the Sussexes).

She wore nice clothes and was slammed for the cost; she wore affordable clothes and was mocked for trying too hard. She held her baby bump too much, ate avocados that were somehow linked to terrorism, held Archie the ‘wrong’ way. If she was warm and affectionate, she was too Hollywood. If she smiled too much, she was fake and smug. If she didn’t, she was cold and calculating.

Stories of Harry and Meghan's lives were used as fodder for the press - see The Princes and the Press , Byline Times, Jasmine Dotiwala and Carole Malone (long long long before they left) are on video discussing the reciprocal nature and leaks from Kensington palace - even Camilla Tominey herself (in the doucmentary linked to above) has said as much.

And yet, despite all of this it’s still Meghan's fault - because why did she not speaking up sooner about racism and struggles inside the palace. But when she did speak out (e.g., Oprah interview, podcast, or Netflix series), she was then whining, attention-seeking, and playing the victim.

Meghan was found wanting not because she actually did anything terrible, but because people decided they didn't want to accept her, no matter what she did.

I, for one, don’t think they’re perfect—but it’s really odd how ‘not being perfect’ only ever seems to be a problem for Meghan and Harry. Other royals can have scandals, dabble with Chinese spies, affairs, dodgy friends, pass money under the table or even legal troubles and somehow it’s just a minor footnote in the press. The real problem is Meghan.

It is very unfortunate that we can't just comment on the latest projects of MM( whether it be leaving a positive or a negative comments)in peace without having to be going back and forth with some raging royalists. We get it, you do not like this woman...and? This won't make the rest of the world dislike her no matter how much you try. You are not interested in the projects she puts out. Why are you here?

This tread should be discussing her brand and latest programme.
I don't care whether your reviews of the programme is positive or negative.

What does this show has to do with the Royals? The lady has put out her part of the story and moved on years ago. Why do these threads have to always turn into a dissertation about the RF?

I don’t mind then being human. I don’t even mind them being hypocrites, because who among us is not to some extent or other?

I do have a problem with lying on oath on court or launching court proceedings based on untruths, gagging people and then attacking them publicly knowing they can’t fight back and there is a huge power inbalance, treating staff badly and throwing family members under the bus for financial gain. I think I that kind of behaviour goes further than a few human flaws into a lack of moral compass. And I don’t respect people like that, in my private life, my professional life, or in public life generally (I’ve come across a few, in all of those spheres).

Yep - it's absolutely mad how people who claim to have no interest in Meghan somehow always manage to show up, again and again, to tell us how much they don’t care. If you truly weren’t interested, you’d just scroll past—but here we are.

Serenster you undermine your own arguments when they are so completely anti- H & M.

Your arguments tend to the rational but surely most rational posters understand that individuals within the RF are not all good or all bad, and the same applies to Harry and Meghan.

You can’t argue with total reason
and rationality and at the same time be so vehemently against one side surely?

By all accounts Meghan got on pretty well with most of her co-actors in Suits and she may have had some extremely good reasons to have distanced herself from her father and his side of the family.

No one who watched the interview which ended with Thomas Markle saying something like “now it’s her turn to pay” could possibly think him a decent individual or a good father. What genuine father says that about his own daughter fhs?

To get back to the series though, having seen just a few clips, she has obviously picked up some of his lighting skills! 😀

Btw you may have issues with Charles Spencer’s private life but I don’t think he is a fool. He has written quite a few decent history books, appears on a very entertaining history podcast, and handled the Martin Bashir debacle in a very shrewd way and didn’t trust him from the outset.

Serenster · 09/03/2025 18:29

Which other royal family members have entered into a conspiracy to mislead the Courts then? Which Royal family member has directly misled the court by telling lies?

Which other Royal Family member issued a court claim for defamation for something that was proved to be just spin on his part?
