I agree with parts of this, I don’t think they have always helped themselves. They could have been more patient and acted in a more strategic way. Lockdown certainly didn’t help.
But I read the other day that Dan Wootton allegedly gave them ten days response time before he broke the story of Megxit, which isn’t a lot if you have to make an appointment see your father and grandmother, and when making such a life-changing decision. It must have been very unsettling finding out that someone in their midst was singing like a canary too.
Decisions made under huge stress and pressure, and against a background of family suspicion and disharmony, are rarely good.
I do have some sympathy for the RF too as it was during the period when Prince Philip and Queen Elizabeth were ill and dying and it was presumably in the middle of transfer of power from QEII to KC , when no one quite knew who was making which decisions. However, I think the RF’s very defensive and overly harsh response to Harry was possibly borne out of a feeling of guilt that they had overlooked him somewhat.
Prince William has the prospect of reigning ahead of him, and future glories, if you like that sort of thing, but for Harry, his wedding was his pinnacle.
And then Harry of course responded over-harshly in turn.
This is all sheer speculation on my part mind you.
I’d be happier if we had an elected head of state and we could swerve the public family rows entirely! And we could house a president much more cheaply too.
