I tried.

I really did.

But JFC it's absolutely awful.

"Come and watch me make the most basic of crafts while telling me how much you admire me, and I gently patronise you"

Really awful.

Jesus @Baital Again absolutely zero chance you have any actual knowledge or understanding of what you're talking about

Doesn't Charles Spencer live in South Africa these days? Or has he moved back to the UK?

Which marriage is he on these days? Is he on speaking terms with all his children again?

I think even he must have lost count by now 😁

LipglossAlly · 09/03/2025 16:25

uhhuhuhhuhuhuh · 09/03/2025 16:23

His behaviour as his friends would see it - and trust me I know - would be worrying. The actions of a man not in control of his life and making poor impulsive decisions. They'd be concerned and rightly so. You don't have to be royal to know that torching your relationship with your family for whatever reason and isolating yourself is not the way to good mental health.

But again why do you insist when there are facts that tell us that he is not isolated. The events that I have cited are pretty easy to look up and confirm. Why do you insist on a fantasy narrative when they are not corroborated with facts.

Baital · 09/03/2025 16:25

Just summarise would you? As it is so straightforward?

Of course press officers talk to the press, that's their job. But the 'remove one story by providing another about someone else' bit?

I cannot summarise it, please go and read and watch these things yourself and then we can have a conversation 😀

uhhuhuhhuhuhuh · 09/03/2025 16:26

@LipglossAlly no one who lives in this country needs to be told how to think or feel. Or be taught what evidence is what. The facts are plain and clear. The reason that they cannot move on is because of a train of events that they alone set in motion.

Baital · 09/03/2025 16:29

LipglossAlly · 09/03/2025 16:23

Please kindly go and read the byline report.
Please go watch some documentaries such as the Princes and the Press where Don Wootton himself and other members of the press admit that the information that they were being fed was coming directly from the Royal household (this in front of the camera.).

Ok, I will follow your advice and educate myself. It's important to keep an open mind. Could you provide links to the sources so.i can watch for myself?

No one is perfect, the royal family know this above all. Their existence is difficult. Harry would have been at pains to express this. His father made many mistakes and found peace finally after a lot of trauma. His sons are deeply affected but also loved. Harry made a decision to marry but that in itself set off a new chain of events out of his control and his innate desire to protect them. The tragic reality is that he cannot. They are isolated in their existence by the very nature of his birth. In or out of the family. Megan's naive belief she could somehow emancipate him is so fucking ridiculous but also understandable.

I am not going to tell you how to think.
You are insisting on a narrative that is simply not corroborated with facts.
Getting angry at me won't change this.
Spouting this nonsense won't make it true.
You have said that he is totally isolated from friends and family and I simply cited two instances where his family on his mother's side turned up to support him(awww not forgetting princess Eugenie that also made an appearance in the documentary, and maybe even other people we don't know about).

Of course it unnecessary to worry about them.

I am.not sure why you are convinced they are happy, I have no idea whether they are or not.

People who are happy generally don't need the validation of complete strangers, but we are all different.

It seems a bit different from what they envisaged when they first left, but plans evolve, I suppose.

Who knows?

What she’s doing now, the lifestyle show, the Instagram, is pretty much what I thought she’d be doing from day one in California. It didn’t occur to me they wanted to go full destruction. Why they did all this shit stirring nonsense is beyond me. They could have done all this SM stuff with good will instead of blowing up every bridge, it made no sense to me. None of us knew who she was, she had a clean slate, she could have kept it that way. It does question how emotionally intelligent either of them are that they couldn’t see the bigger picture or play the long game. Who says oh yes I’ll take the path of most destruction, when you could choose a happy, sunny, positive path. She’s done it to herself, acting the pantomime villain, so it’s no wonder she gets all the boos and hisses.

Baital · 09/03/2025 16:40

That's my impression, but I realise I haven't watched/read the same sources as @LipglossAlly so I don't have the full picture. I am waiting for suggestions about the sources I should watch/read for the full picture.

Then I can make up my mind from a more informed position.

I seriously fucking doubt it. I imagine 99% of those friends would be like WTAF harry?

I think you may be over-estimating the attractions of the stifling British class system, creaking cronyism and grey skies, set in the context of a deeply entrenched, misogynistic and racist tabloid press.

I imagine a lot of friends of Harry wish they could break out and live his life too instead of having to worry about constant rain, death duties, and a 450k roofing bill.

Also, if you perceive your family to be always putting you down, and not acting in your best interests, you may feel a great weight off your shoulders when you go lc.

Funnily enough that very same racist and misogynistic press has today delivered the news that King Charles has bought the house next to Camilla’s home, Ray Mill, to protect her from “distress” as her neighbour’s boundary was 200 ft from hers or something and they were invading her privacy. A paltry £3 million or so is all it took!

More than he was prepared to pay for accommodation for his son and family apparently! All that money on a property that is going to be rented out. How I wish we could all solve disputes with neighbours so easily!

And yet another addition to King Charles’ ever expanding property portfolio. Not much evidence of slimming down is there? Pretty poor optics when the UK has such a pervasive and distressing homelessness issue.

I am not sure H&M's housing choice works out from an environmental or social housing perspective!

I am not sure about this being the path of most distruction.

They felt like they had to do the Oprah interview to put their story out there after being maligned for years, staying silent and not being protected.

The hate against them started way before this interview.

If they have experienced certain things you can't be mad at them for trying to put their version of the story out.

Many forget that after living M&H went quiet for a chunk of time( this was also due to the pandemic) but the hate didn't stop. The harassment coming from both the media and consequently the Royal Orbit did not stop. Had the Royals used their influence to stop it , maybe we wouldn't have had the Oprah interview.

BunnyLake · 09/03/2025 16:46

BecauseRonald · 09/03/2025 16:20

I have started watching the series on the back of the hate threads on MN

I thought it was really nice. Light-hearted, showcasing good food, light conversations and beautiful surroundings. Meghan comes across as exactly who she is - an educated, pleasant, self-made, confident American woman who is aware that a lot of people out there absolutely love to hate her.

I thought the show was more lively than Barefoot Comtessa (deary with dull food), less unsettling than Pioneer Woman (permasmile with carcrash ultra processed ingredients) and thank God it lacked Nigella-style cringeworthy double entendres. Meghan is no chef so the cooking is basic - her strength is in easy tweaks to make simple food very visually appealing. The show doesn't set out to do anything else and it succeeds.

All in all a lovely series to watch for a bit of relief from the horrors of reality. It's miles better than I expected from the overwhelmingly negative press (I'm the in the uk... surprise). The contrast between the tone of the show and the visceral viciousness of some reviews is startling.

I like watching Pioneer Woman although I do agree with you on the food (I could never eat it) and the permasmile😁 I’ve never seen someone smile and talk at the same time so much. I enjoy her show though, but I can still criticise it just like I can criticise Meghan’s.

I actually quite liked it.

I have no real skin in the game, we are also enjoying watching Suits at the minute so maybe I feel more warmly to her because of that.

I don't get the hate at all.

It's not the best programme in the world but, in that genre, I can see it as the worst.
