I tried.

I really did.

But JFC it's absolutely awful.

"Come and watch me make the most basic of crafts while telling me how much you admire me, and I gently patronise you"

Really awful.

Her show has been renewed for a second season, which is presumably good news for her fans and her detractors both I guess in terms of a rinse and repeat of all these issues! And for Meghan herself of course! 😀

Well I really hope she has finally found her niche and all the RF sniping is behind her (and us). She can really focus her goals on her lifestyle brand. What a shame she didn’t just go on this path five year’s ago. She didn’t get this series because she dissed her in-laws as she’d already signed up, so she could have been flying high with no bad blood with anyone.

I think my draped jumper looks cool !

I don't do it all the time 😅 and also can't imagine criticising someone for it!

I didn’t criticise her, i said it looked cumbersome.

hellno123 · 07/03/2025 18:21

I watched the first two and thought I didn't like it But I carried on watching it and I quite enjoyed it. I think if you are into entertaining at home then you will love it. It did make me want to have a glass of wine because of the amount she drinks in it 😂

I don’t think it had a British audience in mind at all. The sugary gushing and over effusive praise isn’t really something we do. Could you imagine how a British talk show would go down if it was hosted by a Drew Barrymore type, we’d laugh them out the building. I should think Meghan is looking for a supportive and loyal American following.

Yep this is 100% made for Americans.

Which makes the high ratings in multiple other countries all the more surprising (and gratifying if you're Meghan or Netflix).

Im not at all surprised they renewed it.

I think it’s very good for her to have it renewed, even though I’ve found it dull so far up to Ep2, but I’m British and not really her audience as I don’t like gushiness. She must be thrilled and I think even non-fans should be pleased because it will hopefully mean no more frantic chasing her tail. She’s done it, she’s found her thing and that can only be good for fans and non-fans. So well done her, but I do hope the second series will be less dull. As many outdoor shots as they can do because the area and views are a winner even for a non-fan like myself.

BunnyLake · 07/03/2025 19:59

I’m hearing that it wasn’t so much renewed as already filmed in 16 parts, as some will reference the LA wildfires. Either way it’s good for her to be seen as a productive lifestyle influencer/guru or whatever, rather than her other more negative incarnations.

Jacquettes · 07/03/2025 21:07

She receiveS 100X more hate than Prince Andrew or even Lucy fucking Letby. Let that sink in.

i agree with your whole post.

We are seeing a tidal wave of hate targeting Meghan. It just keeps on coming. It’s heavily encouraged by traditional media and monetised social media accounts. It’s been happening for 8 years now.

But I think more people are starting to question it now.

It's not even her house. I've just started the first episode and no way are her and this guy close friends. I reckon she paid him to be on the show

Nigella didn’t film in her own kitchen either.

Coolasfeck · 07/03/2025 15:55

I wonder what the Venn diagram of people who hate MM but believe Blake Lively has suffered from a professional negative PR campaign looks like?

It was crazy how there seemed to be a cascading of similar talking points and messages across multiple media channels about this woman to influence opinion.

She receiveS 100X more hate than Prince Andrew or even Lucy fucking Letby. Let that sink in.

I hope the continued persistence of Harry exposes it all.

Shes been portrayed as a modern day Marie Antoinette. It’s crazy to observe.

My previous post at 21.07 is in response to Coolasfeck’s post. I lost the quote again somehow.

Baital · 07/03/2025 21:47

Criticism =/= hate.

She chose to do a lifestyle show. It didn't land well, she didn't come across well. Lots of wannabe presenters don't. It's a skill.

She got the opportunity because of who she married. She doesn't present well. She doesn't have the skill set.

Why is it 'hate' to say that?

Ilovecleaning · 07/03/2025 21:47

Yes, definitely not for a British audience. It is simply too happy, twee and life-affirming (😆) for a UK audience. But totally harmless. More of a How the Other Half Lives programme like those documentaries about The Ritz, luxury cruises or what life is like in Dubai ( for the rich).
She has been excoriated in the British press for things which are pretty normal from other celebrities: the expensive wardrobe, the staged friends coming round, the hired kitchen, the expensive ingredients. Like nobody else does it?
I am not a fan of MM but I watched the series out of curiosity because of all the flak she was getting. I had to fast forward a few times because it was pretty dull and repetitive and lacked humour but it wasn’t THAT bad. However, if there’s a second series I’ll be giving it a miss.
The invective in the British media is totally OTT and is making itself look a bit ridiculous.

Baital · 07/03/2025 21:51

I would also be terrible at presenting. That's why - if I was ever offered the job, but can't imagine why I would be 😂- I would turn it down.

No matter who I married!

You’re right. For a start how many people have kitchens big enough for a cookery demo plus all the crew and cameras? 😀

Whodoyouthinkuare · 07/03/2025 22:00

I saw the trailer and wanted to vomit. It's so fake and looks like absolute drivel. She has zero personality. It's crying out for attention "look at me, and how wonderful I am" which is strange for someone that wants privacy.

Baital · 07/03/2025 22:01

The guests seem to have to say how wonderful she is as well.

Very strange, and a bit sad

CalicoPusscat · 07/03/2025 22:04

I would like to try the crudite...arranging. it looks appealing presented that way. Off to the farm shop tomorrow as not a chance in hell co-op will stock much which is interesting

Nigella didn’t film in her own kitchen either.

Nigella Bites on Channel 4 in 1999, was taped in the kitchen at her home in west London. As she became more famous and she joined the BBC, production shifted to custom-built sets.

She never actually said that though. They said they wanted to step back from being working royals.

Poor you. Enduring 30 seconds of something that's not your cuppa and made you want to vomit

Yes 26 years ago. Then moved to a warehouse near her home

Jacquettes · 08/03/2025 00:24

Is it hate to criticise someone?

Generally speaking no. But all this is something more than just a criticism of someone.

It is hate when it’s gone on for 8 long years and reaches the frenzied level it has when everything she does is forensically examined and criticised. And things she hasn’t done but is suspected or imagined to have done, or is predicted that she will do in future (fantasy in other words), also amount to hate - as 99% of the time she is being cast as evil, manipulating, conniving etc..

And it’s not only hate on social media. Traditional media has encouraged it for 8 years now. They are currently engaged in whipping it along under the guise of ‘reviews’. How many reviews does one show need? There are so many because it’s a click provoking, money making, hate industry.
