It's been panned but a lot of the press already hate her, hence my asking

Is it really that bad? I'm in my 30s and it doesn't seem aimed at my age group from the clips online.

There's one bad clip of her correcting mindy kaling on her name but I'm sure that's just been put out to make her look bad 😭

Worth a watch?

Ahh okay, I didn't know about the name! The video going around shows zero context 🙄🙄

Agree with everything you've said. It's just, maybe recipes would be more relatable 🥺

Or things that most people could use in Britain

But it's not made for the British market. It's primarily made for a US audience.

Re. your comment about modelling for brands like Dior and Chanel. They or any fashion house won't touch her, she's too toxic. The interview she did with Oprah coupled with Harry's book plus the bullying allegations mean it's highly unlikely she's get any kind of brand ambassador work. Meghan has demonstrated time and time again that's she's neither loyal nor truthful, and willing to throw those who have tried to help her totally under the bus. Why would anyone employ a woman who bitches, complains and alienates not just her colleagues, but who pay her wages?

Trickabrick · 04/03/2025 20:51

I don’t have any strong feelings about her but I think it’s a shame she’s settled into something so twee and removed from most people’s reality. She had the option of using her platform to leverage the interest in her for much more than jam making and fruit rainbows. Seems a bit of a waste tbh.

It makes me really bewildered, to be honest. She's educated, well spoken, attractive and she and Harry together could have been really positive ambassadors for the Commonwealth that the late Queen was steering them towards. Instead they both just seem hell bent on personal promotion and one disastrous career move after another. I really question what they're actually trying to achieve. It also makes you realise how well managed the Royal Family is.

Why would they be ambassadors for the Commonwealth? That would require them to be working Royals, which they are not.

I just watched an episode out of curiosity. I'm so sick of all the politics discussions lately and hatred towards them I was hoping for some light relief. the setting itself of the show is pretty but she was a bit too sickly sweet anded up getting bored and turned it off x

I just switched it on too. I agree, the setting is beautiful and I do want to know all about bee keeping. But I couldn't stand all the flattering shots of her and her synthetic, gushing comments.
I'm afraid I only watched one minute. It would probably have been fine without her in it.

Vitriolinsanity · 04/03/2025 21:00

It's prettily shot. I'm can say with utter honesty that if I have my friends a gift wrapped bag of dried fruit slices they would think I had gone round the bend.

I'm intrigued by the sparkling water in scrambled eggs. How much would one put in?

HolySchmokes · 04/03/2025 21:12

Watched the first episode and found it very agreeable. Easy watching, and I like how they filled the cake. Given me some inspo for my next round of baking. Shall continue with pleasure.

wobbledobbleflobble2 · 04/03/2025 21:12

I'm home ill with a bad cold so I've had it on in the background. I have no strong feelings about Meghan but I had to turn it off after two episodes as it was just so bloody DULL. Even my lemsip-addled brain wanted something less vacuous.

But I'd recommend it if you don't know how to put carrots on a plate with some dip, because Meghan puts some carrots on a plate with some dip.

Which was fun.

Yeah I'm on episode one (stopped for mafs) but I quite like it

Also with summer coming up it's given me some ideas

True re the us market, I guess

Sort of like a us stacey Solomon

I dunno that they wouldn't work with her, you know. Was she anti trump? I don't recall her making any political statements, she's just a representative of forward thinking

She and Harry have put out some duds but his book sold well and this seems like a logical extension of her old blog with some more polish from her status change since marriage so hopefully it goes well for her.

She faced so much hideous and blatant racism that I am rooting for a nice win for her. I didn't even read about her extensively and some of the things that were printed were horrible. I also don't think Harry prepared her very well for life in the royal family and he had not a clue about existing as a black woman in a traditionally white space.

Londonrach1 · 04/03/2025 21:18

Indifferent as mentioned before!

I am very neutral to her. Watched the show on a background, she is very stiff, has awful makeup/foundation on, called spaghetti noodles and grated Parmesan on a large grater. No, thank you.

TheSummerHolidaysMakeMeCrazy · 04/03/2025 21:20

She has a huge platform and could have made a real difference in "empowering women", which she made out was her aim but she's been utterly disappointing in that area.

It's just a bit frothy and no substance.

mumofoneAlonebutokay · 04/03/2025 21:22

This woman would be good with the incel tbh

He'd teach her to chill and she'd teach him to stop being a bellend

Sorry wrong thread 😭

I love that when the evening news showed clips of her clarifying her name, they introduced the item as 'Meghan Markle' 😁

I'm not a Meghan Markle hater, but I let my friend Marina watch this for me. www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2025/mar/04/meghan-markle-art-political-cultural-duchess-of-sussex-with-love-meghan

I think she should have done a series where she visits different homeless shelters, lunch projects, community gardens, women's centres, larder foodshare type places all across the States and explores the role of food in bringing communities together in a positive way. She could interview people and hear their stories, and also get involved in the cooking and celebration side. It would have been more thoughtful and socially relevant, while also making her look interested in someone other than herself. The cultural aspect would have also been a positive antidote to the whole Trump thing.

She should hire you tbh, she does need some better guidance 🥺

I don’t hate her but she comes across as so fake and unrelateable. She reminded me of someone who gets offended by everything and cries if they don’t get their own way. I think the sharp voice and abrupt change of tone about the name was an interesting insight, especially as it was so different to the honeyed tone in the rest of the programme. I think she’s trying to project an image of a sweet earth mother but that’s not who she is really.

SuddenFrisson · 04/03/2025 21:27

I’m never going to watch this, but despite all the chatter about it, I’m still kind of vague on what it’s actually about. Is it sort of Gwyneth Paltrow’s Goop meets Martha Stewart meets Kirstie Allsop doing crafts? It seems a bit slight for the reputed $100 million deal…?

nam3c4ang3 · 04/03/2025 21:28

I haven’t got time to throw flowers into my kids food and they would be absolutely besides themselves with laughter if so 😂😂😂 and the seeds for the party bag? What happened to a silly whistle and a maom?! 😂😂 she’s so out of touch it’s insane. Poor girl. 😂😵‍💫 - I don’t dislike her btw - I just think she’s made so many bad choices.

She’s using the show as an advert for her products. The ultimate aim is to be the next Martha Stewart. She can’t really build that sort of business with the type of programmes you are describing without exploiting the people she visits.

This programme isn’t intended to be even vaguely charitable / socially active, it’s intended to bring in the cash so they can do their charitable activities without trying to profit from them.
