It's been panned but a lot of the press already hate her, hence my asking

Is it really that bad? I'm in my 30s and it doesn't seem aimed at my age group from the clips online.

There's one bad clip of her correcting mindy kaling on her name but I'm sure that's just been put out to make her look bad 😭

Worth a watch?

Happy to repeat

Can I just say, for clarity:
I don’t have a problem with them leaving the uk because it felt completely overwhelming. I’d hate that scrutiny. Fair play for wanting to reduce it.
I also don’t have a problem with them realising that they actually really like being rich and going to the fancy parties and that the only way to continue that is to sell their life as a product. I also think it’s reasonable to still dislike the criticism even after making this decision.
Completely understandable.
But to write essays to posters, condemning them, for having a little eye roll or smirk about it is absolutely absurd.
That is my stance.
and in the words of an amazingly passive aggressive poster on here… HTH 😀😀

But that doesn’t address that point. At all.

Also, you’ve claimed I told you to leave the thread (I didn’t, I specifically said you were entitled to post wherever you liked) and you apparently think any attempt to control what you post needs calling out (don’t disagree on that point, actually) but you are happy to police what I post on the thread?

Do you even see the raging hypocrisy?

ohfook · 16/03/2025 09:14

I liked it in the same way I like a lot of similar shows just as a nice bit of escapism. It’s nothing groundbreaking just literally just a harmless bit of tv with a rich lady faffing on doing all the stuff I’d faff on doing if I was rich. I don’t think it deserves the absolute slating it got at all.

I tried the pasta recipe and that was nice too.

Prepare yourself, there’s another hateful emoji coming in…. 😏

And? That post specifically says you can post anywhere you like. I was just asking why.

Do you often have comprehension issues with things you read?

Also, I mentioned one previous emoji in the context of assuming the poster intended the usual meaning of said emoji? I certainly haven’t said I ‘hate’ them. Is this another example of you imagining people have said things they haven’t?

This is starting to look like a pattern….

Yes. I’m incredibly stupid. My comprehension was a huge barrier to achieving a MA in Applied Linguistics. My lecturers had actually never seen someone unable to read achieve a distinction before. They’d never seen anyone give birth in both the years of the course, achieve a distinction AND be unable to read before.

I’m a real marvel. They wrote academic journals about me. I’m just so, so stupid.

Now, what were you saying about being “unkind” and “hateful” towards someone…?

So I should stop giving you the benefit of the doubt, assume you have understood what I’ve posted and that you are just deliberately lying about what I’ve said.

Noted.

Ive watched a couple of episodes out of curiosity. It’s a bit sickly sweet but essentially just a bit of a wholesome lifestyle show. I can’t get worked up about it. Still don’t hate her.

But it’s not a “lifestyle show” because it’s filmed in a completely different house down the road for security reasons, while she pretends that it’s her house.

Nigella Lawson films in a studio made to look like a house, but it’s a cookery show not a lifestyle show.

I’m not a Megan hater but the sheer cynicism of this show and its disdain for its audience has made her go right down in my estimation.

Oh dear, comprehension fail again.

I’ve copy pasted what I actually said in italics

Also, ‘people who don’t hate Meghan’ was a reference to the title of the thread?

How exactly have you managed to read me specifically saying I don’t think you calling Megan a liar means you hate her as meaning I think calling people liars is hateful?

This is definitely becoming a pattern….

Also, just to note, you still haven’t answered the original question. I’ve pasted it again below since you apparently can’t remember these things after you move to the next page.

how is anything you have posted relevant to the tabloid claim that they can’t have any privacy if they want to sell programmes / books about themselves

You stated

“Most people think calling people liars is unkind and not something done to someone you like. HTH.”

Does repeatedly calling people stupid while actually failing to understand what is being written yourself generally work for you?

And the word ‘hate’ or ‘hateful’ (edited to say: or ‘stupid’ for that matter) appears on that comment where?

Still making things up….

lljkk · 16/03/2025 10:14

i haven't seen it so I can't have an opinion.
I'm not interested in her or her opinions or things she will promote.
it is possible to be indifferent.

I don't think I'd watch (or listen to) anybody;s lifestyle show (it is a lifestyle thing, right?) I'm not interestd in that from anybody. I'm not interested in chat shows either. I find chatty podcasts very annoying. It doesn't bother me if other people like chat shows.

NewMarmiteJar · 16/03/2025 10:20

You’re shooting wide here. Feel better soon.

Zombella · 16/03/2025 10:29

I've watched all the episodes now. I found it a nice, light, entertaining watch. I enjoyed it the same way I enjoy programmes like Sort Your Life Out, Sewing Bee, Bake Off and Location, Location, Location (LLL being escapism for me as I'll never afford my own home).

I like a nice bit of escapism after a hard week. Is her show going to change my world? No. But I think I might have a go at making my own pesto and I'm going to try growing tomatoes or herbs on my windowsill. The show won't be everyone's cup of tea, and that's okay. But for me, I liked it. As for Meghan herself, I can't hate a woman who rescues and cuddles chickens.

CurlewKate · 16/03/2025 18:06

Of the clips I’ve seen, the one thing I do hope everybody tries is the focaccia. Even if you’ve never made bread before, focaccia is a revelation! And from what I saw, she the production team got the consistency of the dough exactly right.

Sorry, I’m struggling to see what is wrong with that.

Eh- as it’s not Meghan Sussex, rather Mountbatten Windsor……

I have no like/ dislike - but she sure does need to note that liars needs to have good memories!

if she felt that she suffered racism, that is how she felt - I don’t think it’s for anyone to tell her she didn’t. Let them live their lives - if people like the show, great, if they don’t - they need to find something else to do…..

Tomatotater · 16/03/2025 18:22

JimHalpertsWife · 04/03/2025 18:24

Mindy called her Meghan Markle to her face, then Meghan corrected her as if to say "just call me Meghan" (remember these two are supposed to be friends) but actually said "It's Meghan Sussex".

They then had a conversation which was quite amicable about why she wanted to be known as Meghan Sussex which was about it being a name for the 4 of them, when considering the animosity they have with both their families made sense.
I watched it. She is a bit twee but actually she spoke to some interesting people, like the Korean chef who made Kimchee ( which I've made before, and homemade is like a completely different dish from shop bought) and the woman who made pot sticker dumplings. She did some interesting things that I might fancy trying, like candle making and the kilner jar cocktails.

As has been pointed out multiple times, no, it isn’t.

Yes, there's 7 numbered threads on here purely to knock it. That's nearly 7,000 posts so it has been done to death as far as negativity.

I've watched 5 of the 8. I was pleasantly surprised. I fast forwarded through the bits that didn't interest me so much but liked the food stuff with the different people. I think she did well with this, it was pretty lifestyle stuff that was easy to watch. I hope it works for her.

Tomatotater · 16/03/2025 18:33

MissRachelismycoparent · 04/03/2025 19:55

I don't dislike her but I have no interested in watching her make rainbow fruit salads and suggesting I can do it on a Saturday morning when I'm actually a shuttle bus for various clubs and birthday parties

But it was a party platter for a kids party! You wouldn't be taking kids to clubs all day on the day of your kids party! That was the least interesting episode because Mindy Kaling( who is an extremely accomplished woman herself was really overly gushing and Id never bother making rainbow platters or cut out sandwiches or balloon arches, but I do know people who absolutely would do that and have done similar for their kids parties.

Not sure Meghans aim. I think it was for everyone to love her(?) .. that hasn't happened, so no win for megs!

CurlewKate · 11/03/2025 12:29

@Magnastorm Fair enough. I do know a lot of people have been surprised when I cook spaghetti in minimal water to make pasta and sauce all in one pan. Obviously it's not as useful a tip as I thought it was. And saying a 20 minute low fat pasta dish with 3 different vegetables looks shit (try it!) and is only one step up from beans on toast is stretching it a bit!

But I agree about the overall tone and reverence. Tedious in the extreme.

I agree. I do a pasta bake in a similar way. It was news to me when I first saw the recipe that you could do it like that. When you think of the amount of people who buy pasta sauce it's obvious it's not that common knowledge.

You are really, really overreacting here.

People are entitled to criticise people who rely on public favour. People are allowed to criticise behaviours they don’t like.

I don't think that's an overreaction. I would say criticism is what is in this thread- it's a bit boring/ she hasn't given any recipe advice etc etc but when there are 7 full threads of people slagging her off for a bit of a twee TV show that poor skint Netflix have paid her for ( as opposed to all of us paying for the rest of Harry's family) then that is bullying. It is also fuelling the interest in her, which these people say they don't want.
