It's been panned but a lot of the press already hate her, hence my asking

Is it really that bad? I'm in my 30s and it doesn't seem aimed at my age group from the clips online.

There's one bad clip of her correcting mindy kaling on her name but I'm sure that's just been put out to make her look bad 😭

Worth a watch?

Yes! She does way too much simpering when you can tell she has a core of steel. I think she should have the courage of her convictions and get into writing and campaigning for social change. Not many people like women who are vocal with their opinions, but she isn’t well liked anyway. She may as well be respected.

Exactly, she does have a core of steel she is strong and should be utilising it, instead of whatever this is

I am enjoying it.

mumofoneAlonebutokay · 04/03/2025 20:14

I've whacked episode 1 on now

I just watched an episode out of curiosity. I'm so sick of all the politics discussions lately and hatred towards them I was hoping for some light relief. the setting itself of the show is pretty but she was a bit too sickly sweet anded up getting bored and turned it off x

Agree I don't care for politics 😄, I choose happiness

I can tell it will defo be sickly sweet

Her title is the Duchess of Sussex. She has no claim to Windsor or Mountbattan.

CutiePieMiMo90 · 04/03/2025 18:51

Totally on the minority on MN but I actually really felt for her on the documentary that she and Harry did on netflix
I'm on episode 3. It's nice. It's not groundbreaking. Nothing pops up saying "donuts" so much flour etc, it's like whatever she thinks.... it's cute and aesthetic.
Yes it's a bit much...like come on girl we don't have time for sorting our a fruit rainbow even on a sat morning I have football and gymnastics to ferry little people too but it's nice

I don't get the hate towards her but the clip I saw she didn't so the fruit very well. The small plate just looked a mess.

Exactly this

Same

wholettheturnipsburn · 04/03/2025 18:26

I don't hate her. I'm indifferent and not interested in watching it

Same! Sounds boring

Cushionseams · 04/03/2025 20:18

I'm not going to watch it. I don't mind her.

I am absolutely fascinated by how the daily mail is obsessed with her. There are 52 articles about her or her show today alone?!

Arraminta · 04/03/2025 20:18

I find it odd because she hangs so much of her persona on the hook of Female Empowerment? And all that fanfare about how when she was 12 she wrote to Proctor & Gamble to complain how they only showed women washing up with Fairy Liquid?

Yet, here she is suddenly reinventing herself as a Stepford Wife? Faffing with cut flowers in the kitchen and prepping jam jars?

ladygindiva · 04/03/2025 20:19

Me and DD err on the side of harry and Meghan fans, definitely not haters, but DD has just now messaged me saying it's utter cringe and needs to be watched for all the wrong reasons 🤣

Birdie280125 · 04/03/2025 20:19

Watched a bit today out of curiosity, seemed a bit boring. Might try another day when I'm less tired.

mumofoneAlonebutokay · 04/03/2025 20:22

She makes popcorn from fried corn which is actually quite cool i suppose

dayswithaY · 04/03/2025 20:28

I don’t hate her, I’m just puzzled by her decisions.

She seems very intelligent and politically minded so why is she dumbing down with the jam making and cut up fruit? It just seems like she’s playing a role, I wish she would just be herself, wasn’t that the whole point of leaving the Royal family? Surely she could have hosted tea parties and arranged flowers to her heart’s content at Frogmore. Maybe I’m missing the point.

This format has been done to death, nothing new here. Is this really the best that Netflix and all their highly paid execs could come up with?

WhatsMyBabysnameAmanda · 04/03/2025 20:32

I really like her and I’m enjoying it - it’s relaxing, aspirational lifestyle tv, a bit like Kirsty Allsop’s homemade Christmas thing as a pp said.

SpunkyKoala · 04/03/2025 20:36

It’s just more insipid vapid twaffle inoffensive and unoriginal.

SpunkyKoala · 04/03/2025 20:38

I can never quite get past the fact that she had a chance to be a significant power for change with real influence and the scope and ability to make a real difference to people who desperately need it but instead she’s chosen to just be another cookie cutter celeb with a jam jar in her hand

BabyShaark · 04/03/2025 20:39

I’m a non-hater. Doesn’t mean I like her. Why is it always assumed generally that if you don’t like someone/ approve of someone, you’re a hater? You could just be indifferent.

I gave her the benefit of the doubt today. I made it through about 5 minutes until she started with the bath salt. Then she lost me.

I would love to see useful content that I can incorporate into my life. This I can’t. There are YouTube channels out there that have more enticing content.

SemperIdem · 04/03/2025 20:39

Another here who can’t really understand why she appears to be trying to force herself into such a twee hole. She’s intelligent, she could do something with real weight behind it relatively easily.

StrawDonkey · 04/03/2025 20:42

I’m disappointed with Netflix, they’ve whacked the subscription price up again and have spent £££s on cheap filler TV with MM. I want decent drama for my money. The best stuff on Netflix is older (stuff like Dexter and Lost). I don’t watch lifestyle, cookery type shows and they are 10 a penny on free TV if anyone is interested in them because they are so cheap to make.

AllProperTeaIsTheft · 04/03/2025 20:43

Redpeach · 04/03/2025 18:21

I don't hate her in the least but have zero interest in watching

Same.

RachelLikesTea · 04/03/2025 20:44

Watching now, surprised to find myself enjoying it! I’m not a cook, I don’t enjoy it but am finding all the flavours, syrupy textures and colours quite inspiring. Not realistic but beautifully filmed.

MatchaTea1 · 04/03/2025 20:45

I don't like her or dislike her, but I do wonder why her projects keep failing, or why she feels the need to go on faux-royal tours like the trip to Columbia or show up and give a speech at the Inivtcus Games - the world is not clamouring for her presence in public life, and she does want to do that kind of thing she would have been better doing it as an established part of the royal family.

I know her and Harry had their reasons for leaving but their only USP was their royal connection which they no longer have, so they really are just two random rich people with nothing particular to offer the world, they could just do charitable works behind the scenes if they need a sense of purpose.

The clips I have seen of the latest show look quite vapid but fairly inoffensive, but there are plenty of this type of lifestyle show so I'm not sure what this will add to the genre.

angelinawasrobbed · 04/03/2025 20:48

A couple of years ago, they were saying she might run for president. Now she’s making cakes on the telly. Seems like a comedown

(She’d be better than Trump)

Anrom19 · 04/03/2025 20:48

Moonshine5 · 04/03/2025 18:23

Indifference

Exactly, she hasn’t killed anyone or as far as I know abused anyone. I’m sure her children are happy and so is her husband unless anyone can prove otherwise
