It's been panned but a lot of the press already hate her, hence my asking

Is it really that bad? I'm in my 30s and it doesn't seem aimed at my age group from the clips online.

There's one bad clip of her correcting mindy kaling on her name but I'm sure that's just been put out to make her look bad 😭

Worth a watch?

I would've loved to see her go down the fashion and beauty route tbh 😪

She could model for dior and would do so well at chanel

It isn’t a show that gives, the focus is so simple. I’m not going to come away full of good ideas, so no point watching.

I feel it is a bit ‘look at me and how good my life is’ - perhaps an ill conceived message when the world feels so messy.

IHaveDefectedToTeamDog · 04/03/2025 18:36

I don’t hate her, and have little interest in her. However when she was becoming famous for being Harry’s other half, I read an article she’d written and heard of some women’s rights work she’d done. I thought she seemed intelligent and socially aware. It’s a shame she’s not continuing along this line.

And there’s nothing wrong with correcting someone if they get your name wrong!

Samcro · 04/03/2025 18:38

There is a whole Meghan bash topic.

I don’t hate her, haven’t seen her show, my opinion would be they are running out of money, so are trying the influencer, homely route to make some.

I don’t think she know who she is

This is it, they're so powerful but are doing this

I understood leaving but not really sure what they're doing 😪 as much as I really like and root for them

Donotgogentle · 04/03/2025 18:39

I don’t hate her at all but it’s bad. Bland, twee, pointless.

She starts the first episode by making her own bath salts to go in a jar for a guest bedroom. That’s so far off from the reality of my life I was incredulous.

The cake looked nice though and I’d love a stay in the house they’ve rented to make the show..

They need money. Their security bill alone runs to the hundreds of thousands or even millions a year. If they want to keep doing the charity work (and I actually think they do), they need a source of income. This is one of the more harmless ways they could be raising cash.

Also, in regard to the name, I think William and Harry always used ‘Wales’ as a surname and I think George and Charlotte used ‘Cambridge’ at school (before William became POW) so I think that’s how it works?

Tiredalwaystired · 04/03/2025 18:48

i Think you need to change the title of your thread. You want people who like MM as they’re the ones who will have an opinion. The rest of us dont hate her as we don’t have an opinion either way and will likely not be watching.

Ahh okay, I didn't know about the name! The video going around shows zero context 🙄🙄

Agree with everything you've said. It's just, maybe recipes would be more relatable 🥺

Or things that most people could use in Britain

Totally on the minority on MN but I actually really felt for her on the documentary that she and Harry did on netflix
I'm on episode 3. It's nice. It's not groundbreaking. Nothing pops up saying "donuts" so much flour etc, it's like whatever she thinks.... it's cute and aesthetic.
Yes it's a bit much...like come on girl we don't have time for sorting our a fruit rainbow even on a sat morning I have football and gymnastics to ferry little people too but it's nice

Theunamedcat · 04/03/2025 18:55

It's not exactly revolutionary cookery is it

I'm not a hater but she baffles me I question her life choices realise I don't care and turn the TV over

B1indEye · 04/03/2025 18:57

mumofoneAlonebutokay · 04/03/2025 18:30

The video is put out by the daily mail, which popped up on my tiktok

It's just her speaking with mindy kaling and saying 'it's so funny that you call me meghan markle when it's meghan Sussex now'

Comes across a bit sarky but I haven't taken it that way, just seemed like an awkward moment. Her haters are having a field day with it all

I've seen that episode and it didn't come across as anything other than an observation. I didnt hear any malice

No one has to watch, what I've seen was pretty bland , I'm sure we aren't meant to be taking it as an instruction manual

Yeah same, really wanna give them a chance

I like to watch stacey Solomon - definitely can't do what she does 😭 but I guess it's similar to her pickle cottage?

Can't change the thread title but I agree, most average people don't hate her 😄

I don't hate her. Have watched a couple of clips and don't see anything especially novel.

Reminds me of a show Anthea Turner doid called something like The Perfect Housewife

anotherside · 04/03/2025 18:58

Weird people get so worked up about her/them. Ok let’s assume she is an out of touch/self absorbed/hypocritical rich person. Well that makes her no worse than many thousands of others.

GreatTiming · 04/03/2025 19:00

It’s a lot of her looking down and mumbling to herself. Weird hosting style.

OurFlagMeansAfternoonTea · 04/03/2025 19:01

The kids' surname is Mountbatten-Windsor or Prince Archie of Sussex.

I’m a non-meghan markle hater but have absolutely zero interest in watching a programme about her. Maybe that’s why I don’t hate her?

I suspect it’s only people who have a strong opinion on her either way who would watch it. Neflix have openly said they expect it to be watched by people who don’t like her which makes me think they will have edited it to show her in a poor light.

User746353 · 04/03/2025 19:03

It's vacuous and not relatable. It gives the same vibes as a clique of popular girls from high school who love the fact other people watch them from afar and feel envious of their privileged lives and good looks. It's basically a weird parasocial tension where they pretend they don't care about attention but by definition, they can only be popular if there are people watching and admiring them.

The only different here is that us "normie" people genuinely do not care or admire the lives of people like Meghan. The show is shoving a specific aspirational ideal at everyone with a cast of insufferable people who are portrayed as better than everyone else because they live in LA, are skinny, rich etc.

This trope could have worked in the 90s or 2000s where everyone got their entertainment from TV so it was easier to control what was aspirational or not. However nowadays, there is so much choice on social media for this type of content. People who want this sort of entertainment can easily follow influencers where they get more personal and direct content.

Longma · 04/03/2025 19:09

I don't hate her. I don't know her. I am ambivalent to her.

It's not something I'd chose to watch regardless.

ssd · 04/03/2025 19:09

I think it looks very self indulgent and really not of the times...

Endofyear · 04/03/2025 19:09

From the clips I've seen, it's very much not my cup of tea but I'm sure there are plenty of people who will like it and watch it. Don't see why she's getting so much hate for it to be honest 🤷‍♀️

Garlicgarlicgarlic · 04/03/2025 19:12

It's adverts for products she's going to try to sell (pancake mix, shortbread mix, dried flowers) so definitely worth a watch if you like adverts.

Jasrun · 04/03/2025 19:14

It was boring. I couldn’t get through the first episode.
