It's been panned but a lot of the press already hate her, hence my asking

Is it really that bad? I'm in my 30s and it doesn't seem aimed at my age group from the clips online.

There's one bad clip of her correcting mindy kaling on her name but I'm sure that's just been put out to make her look bad 😭

Worth a watch?

I have no strong opinion on Meghan so I thought I’d give it a go, I lasted about 30 minutes. Pros - she really is very pretty and elegant, I’d like to know more about her fashion and beauty choices. She came across better than I thought she would. Her handwriting is beautiful. Cons - it’s very dull. A lot of it was geared around ‘look how kind and thoughtful I am’, and spending a lot of time doing inconsequential things. A lot of repacking things into single-use plastic which isn’t very environmentally friendly, and she didn’t seem to know a lot about her ‘close friend’. Ultimately I’m sure she’s nice enough, but she isn’t very interesting and I can’t imagine watching 8 episodes of it.

Dunkou · 06/03/2025 19:35

I watched the first episode and enjoyed it, it was quite relaxing seeing her pottering about. I'll watch the rest of them, as background while I do something else probably.

Netflix's 'agenda' is eyeballs. They are achieving that in spades and no, not because all the viewers across multiple countries are in on 'a joke' against Meghan. What a nasty premise.

Many people on line seem to be enjoying it. Of course there's a cohort of rage watchers. God knows why people torture themselves like that, but Netflix and Meghan thank them for their attention. 😂

I agree, Netflix do want ratings and they have achieved that.

Please don’t bother me again. I find you unnecessarily rude and aggressive.

Try rereading your first post. The irony.

Gg72 · 06/03/2025 20:43

That's your opinion 😁

So far I've just watched the first episode and liked it. It's interesting to see the actual programme after reading some of the press hate (surprise surprise - negative press, totally unbiased critical opinion and not at all retaliation for being sued). Eg Daily Mail up in arms that it's not filmed in her own house, breaking it like exclusive news they have winnowed out and they're catching her in a lie, when it's one of the first things she says in the show.

Anyway. I might make that pasta, looked nice, although it will be a solo dinner as everyone else in my house hates kale and chard and derides them as animal food. The other stuff - well maybe I am just a tradwife at heart (and not after all a ruthless legal exec) - but it's not out of step with my own life and aspirations. When we have guests we make them a little bedside hamper with snacks and drinks, haven't done bespoke bath salts but maybe I will give that a go as it looked quick and piss easy and the shop ones smell of nothing and cost too much. I don't see why that is such a crazy thing to do, the programme just seemed to be ideas to make things look pretty, and what's wrong with that? The candle making though I can't get on board, tried it during the long winter months of lockdown and all mine tunnelled, had wonky wicks, didn't burn properly and looked crap. Probably need to get some bees. Will watch the rest of the series for sure, I hear there is some day drinking in later eps and that very much speaks to my interests. I imagine it will look prettier than my standard so will hopefully provide ideas for ways to turn getting drunk in the garden into a beautifully curated moment of joy.

"haven't done bespoke bath salts but maybe I will give that a go as it looked quick and piss easy"

Didn't watch the bath salts segment, but there was a warning I read that the way she made the bath salts was not correct. Something about how she didn't add the essential oil correctly, so her bath salts would irritate the skin.

Zanite · 10/03/2025 20:25

I've watched a couple more episodes and I'll probably finish the series - it does improve from the first episode. Meghan is likeable enough, the interactions are a bit clunky, but I like the lifestyle stuff.

I enjoy homegrown/beekeeping/food/candle making/crafts etc, and it's all easy on the eye and pleasantly calming.

CurlewKate · 11/03/2025 06:23

@GlowOrb
I googled this- because I am a serial maker of various forms of shit, although never bath salts, and she's using a bog standard recipe. The same one Martha Stewart uses. So I reckon it's OK.

GlowOrb · 11/03/2025 06:42

@CurlewKate
I read a bit further into the bath salt thing, and it seems the criticism is basically about two issues. One is that when she uses the essential oil, it's not clear if she has diluted it with a carrier oil, as using the essential oil neat could cause skin irritation. The second issue brought up is that after she makes up the bath salt, she realizes that she doesn't have enough to fill the jar, so she throws in more salt which, according to critics, throws off the ratio of the recipe. No comment. I'm not a great fan of bath salts, so I'm never going to make any.

Ygraine · 11/03/2025 06:56

Well, she claims to be into beekeeping but said she hadn’t been to see her bees in two months. The beekeeping expert with her quickly said that he had been to see them more recently. I’m surprised they kept that conversation in. Can’t she see what a bad impression that gives?
She also glares at her guests when they say something she doesn’t like. I really think whoever edited it doesn’t like her at all.
And it is so dull and repetitive.

MrsJamin · 11/03/2025 06:59

I am firmly in the "let her do her thing" but it came over like a trad wife blog - hand making everything from scratch even jam. It was boring too. I don't know how you could just sit and watch it and not just reach for your phone for entertainment. So i wanted to like it but too trad wife for me. Feels like she is just hiding in domesticity rather than being out in the world.

I just watched an episode out of curiosity. I'm so sick of all the politics discussions lately and hatred towards them I was hoping for some light relief. the setting itself of the show is pretty but she was a bit too sickly sweet anded up getting bored and turned it off x

Exactly this. I also found her accent quite annoying which I hadn't really noticed before. It was very sickly sweet and just all a bit too much, and I normally enjoy a good home programme!

EmeraldShamrock000 · 11/03/2025 07:13

I haven't watched it.

I like Meghan, I believe that the Daily mail should be charged with obsessive harassment.

I don't know why I log into the website, it is a bad habit, it's disturbing the constant flie of obsessive negativity around her, I never click them.

I agree they are like stalkers. Can't live without her. Scores of articles daily over years. Someone somewhere is making a lot of money hating on Meghan

It is completely bizarre. If they actually wanted what they claim to want (M&H to fall into obscurity), I’m pretty sure the papers could manage it by just not publishing a word about them.

Ask any has been pop star trying a comeback who can’t get any column inches!

anotherside · 11/03/2025 07:20

It’s must watch TV. Have learnt loads of culinary tips etc.

doubleshotcappuccino · 11/03/2025 07:26

It's fine .. but they're ace x

EmeraldShamrock000 · 11/03/2025 08:03

It is bizarre. It is outright bullying.

Plus the 1000s of readers who are all too willing to hop onto the comments for the abusive pile on.

JustWalkingTheDogs · 11/03/2025 08:56

I'm indifferent to her, I don't hate or like her, I do like those types of shows but she just seems to have got it completely off the mark.

Decamping things from one plastic bag to another, she could have put it in reusable or sustainable packaging and still make it look personal. There's so much she could have done with that show, but tbh it's just drivel.

I did laugh at her fruit rainbow though, it's the sort of shite I'd have done with my dc, making tea into funny faces, not sure it warrants a tv show.

CurlewKate · 11/03/2025 09:12

@GlowOrb <shrugs> Martha Stewart doesn't use a carrier oil either.

I have no skin-burnt or unburnt-in this game. I just remember the Mail's article about her potentially poisoning Charlotte with her wedding bouquet.....

Ahhh yes, with the same flowers that Kate used for her bouquets that were spoken of as 'charming'.

NewMarmiteJar · 11/03/2025 09:45

I don't hate her. I used to stick up for her as I know what it's like to be unfairly excluded from a family with no one in your corner, I get that this is fairly tenuous in terms of a comparison.

At this stage though with all the jam making and lifestyle stuff I just think she's tone deaf with no self awareness.

I ignore them now but I do get very upset at the constant and gleeful bitching by some people who appear to treat hating her as a public sport.

Magnastorm · 11/03/2025 10:14

I really struggle to see how anyone is learning anything from the show.

I mean, in one episode she chopped up some vegetables and stuck some pasta on top of it while talking to someone she clearly had never met in her life before.

It looked shit, and honestly it's barely a step above beans on toast.

EmeraldShamrock000 · 11/03/2025 10:27

She's caught between a rock and a hard place. Acting is no longer an option, charity work is frowned upon and jeered, now trying the traditional wife market.

I get a lot of people would rather she surrender and hide away.

I admire her strength. I'd have been mentally crushed beyond repair, going through the madness long ago.

Like interviews with her Dad about her new show.
