It's been panned but a lot of the press already hate her, hence my asking

Is it really that bad? I'm in my 30s and it doesn't seem aimed at my age group from the clips online.

There's one bad clip of her correcting mindy kaling on her name but I'm sure that's just been put out to make her look bad 😭

Worth a watch?

I agree. They definitely wanted to remain on the world stage, share their lives and do royal duties. They were never going to live below the radar, or try to keep out of the headlines. They live to be celebrities, and in all honesty, never claimed otherwise.

TENSsion · 16/03/2025 08:02

CandidHedgehog · 16/03/2025 07:37

Why? Genuine question. Obviously I don’t agree or I wouldn’t have posted it but I’m wondering why you do.

The original post suggested watching the content was ‘prying’ and the wink as applied to the actual statement made indicated that statement was tongue in cheek.

That is exactly what the tabloids do in regard to M&H’s output - they pretend the Sussexes are hypocrites for asking for privacy then releasing public content and make snide comments about not ‘prying’ by reading / watching or claim ‘they are invading their own privacy’.

I don’t think it’s unreasonable to point out someone is repeating a Daily Mail talking point on what is meant to be a thread for people who don’t hate Meghan.

I note the poster now says she only repeated the standard abusive comment sarcastically, although I’m not sure how anyone was supposed to know that but ‘I was only jokiiiing’ is a fairly standard response, too.

Because they rely exclusively on public interest in them and tabloid stories. They don’t create anything. Selling their life is their product.
And if you think this comment was “hatred”… I don’t know what to say to you.

TENSsion · 16/03/2025 08:05

CandidHedgehog · 16/03/2025 07:56

Agreed, both Meghan and Harry have stressed they never made any such claim both in the Oprah interview and via a spokesman.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-63922657#:~:text=The%20Sussexes'%20global%20press%20secretary,trap%20the%20couple%20into%20silence.

It’s an interesting how pervasive the myth is, though. It’s clearly still being pushed hard by a section of the media.

Well, we know that the interview with Oprah wasn’t exactly an honest account of anything.

So what’s your point? None of that is relevant to the tabloid claim that they can’t have any privacy if they want to sell programmes / books about themselves.

Also, ‘people who don’t hate Meghan’ was a reference to the title of the thread?

I don’t think most people hate her and I include you in that but you clearly don’t like her which means you’ve deliberately come onto a thread that the OP has specifically said is not for you. Obviously you can post anywhere you like but why?

Show me where I’ve said anything unkind about her. Where I’ve said anything that shows I “clearly don’t like her”.

Criticism doesn’t equal hate or even dislike.

BustingBaoBun · 16/03/2025 08:16

And that is driven by those that dislike them because they pour over the internet looking for anything on the couple to criticise!

Whereas someone like me who is ambivalent about them or thinks they are OK just cannot be bothered to read all the guff that is written about them day in day out. Bottom line, detractors of the couple keep them relevant!

If you want them to go away, stop reading and writing about them!

Most people think calling people liars is unkind and not something done to someone you like. HTH.

I notice you haven’t actually responded to my substantive point - how is anything you have posted relevant to the tabloid claim that they can’t have any privacy if they want to sell programmes / books about themselves.

They did lie.

I love my husband and children more than anything in this world, but if they lie, I’m being perfectly reasonable to say they’re lying. That doesn’t mean I suddenly hate them or even dislike them.

Just that I know they’re lying and that they shouldn’t have lied.

You are really, really overreacting here.

People are entitled to criticise people who rely on public favour. People are allowed to criticise behaviours they don’t like.

How weird that you are telling anyone who doesn't agree with you that they are 'overreacting'.
Maybe read my post and answer properly instead of this overreacting nonsense!!!
My point is that those that don't like the couple are driving interest in them by continually writing about them and clicking on everything that is written in the media.

All I did was give my point of view. Perhaps you are the one 'really really overreacting' if that is all you can come up with! 😂

The not about the disagreement. It’s about the ahem passion with which you disagree

I have. She isn’t always truthful.

It is perfectly possible that she told people she was leaving because of the public scrutiny, and that that was leaked, but then denied that to the public when she realised she needed their attention.

How do you feel about criticism about other celebrities? Are you always so enraged by people criticising them? Or is your passion limited to MM and PH?

and I have responded to this.

I am criticising SOME of MM’s behaviour which does not equal to hating someone.

Ive truly never seen this level of anger toward people doing this in defence to any other celebrity.

I find it all very odd.

Do you think your defence of her is somehow a reflection of how virtuous you are?

What’s really going on here?

BustingBaoBun · 16/03/2025 08:45

Odd.

Posters discouraged from expressing a valid opinion on a discussion forum, because it's construed as 'passion' and 'overreaction'. first time I've heard of that, maybe I'm just more eloquent than some! Why on earth do you think I am angry 😅😂😂

Just seen your other post and now I am 'virtuous' !! Just a suggestion, perhaps stop being so personal in your posts.
P.s. I haven't said you hate her

TENSsion · 16/03/2025 08:47

Can I just say, for clarity:

I don’t have a problem with them leaving the uk because it felt completely overwhelming. I’d hate that scrutiny. Fair play for wanting to reduce it.

I also don’t have a problem with them realising that they actually really like being rich and going to the fancy parties and that the only way to continue that is to sell their life as a product. I also think it’s reasonable to still dislike the criticism even after making this decision.
Completely understandable.

But to write essays to posters, condemning them, for having a little eye roll or smirk about it is absolutely absurd.

That is my stance.

and in the words of an amazingly passive aggressive poster on here… HTH 😀😀

I’m really not ‘enraged’ and your insistence on attributing strong emotions to anyone who disagrees with you about the Sussexes while insisting you don’t dislike them is really odd.

You might want to think about why you are making such strange assumptions….

Edited to say: And no, what you have said does not address how is anything you have posted relevant to the tabloid claim that they can’t have any privacy if they want to sell programmes / books about themselves.

Can't say I have an opinion on her or Prince Harry either way, but the show is deadly dull and nothing new.

Sun Tea? Sprinkling flowers in food? How to blow up balloons? Making "darling" crostini?

I feel like she needs to find her niche, and be authentic, but her show is so far removed from normality it's hard to relate to it.
