The tide is turning on Trump

  1. CNN now, poll shows majority of Americans disapprove of Trump.
  1. Commentator stated that Trump spoke about his several conversations with Putin and alarm bells ring, because Trump is parroting what Putin says. No independent thoughts?
  1. He comes over as having memory problems. He forgets what he said earlier.
  1. He needs help running press conferences and appears unable to manage without support.

Is he ill?

It's very odd.

Someone on LBC asked quite seriously if Trump was a Russian agent.

Someone else on the same show pointed out that we will probably have to put up with this for 12 years because JD Vance has effectively started his campaign for the presidency.

Araminta1003 · 04/03/2025 08:31

Really? If you Trump is out, Vance and Musk in? Even more fully? Is that what you want?
If Putin is out, what is the alternative?
People really need to be careful what they wish for. Quite often the ugly truth is that the alternative is even worse!

Read the comments on his latest insta post... not one positive word.

Gaza is old hat now. Any aid trucks being sent there need to be diverted to Kiev asap.

DUkraine we are all with you 🇺🇦🥰

ZebedeeDougalFlorence · 04/03/2025 08:34

I will never forgive Joe Biden. He and his team should never have gone for a second term and should have been succession planning. It is ridiculous that we all thought that Kamala Harris had a chance in hell of winning when she had only been campaigning for months while Trump had years of propaganda/campaigning behind him.

Dymaxion · 04/03/2025 08:36

He’s just announced he’s not only stopping all aid to Ukraine, but has instructed the aid already on the way and nearly there to turn back.

Can he actually do that ? like immediately make decisions like this without any input from the government ? I know he can say he is doing this , but how does that translate into actually doing it IYSIM ?

I never knew the President of the United States had this much power. Crazy.

We have to ensure that Reform do not gain power in this country.

I think Elon Musk made the difference, his backing and the enormous amount of money spent.

I say spent, more like invested as he is calling the shots. Investment in Russia, free run of the White House, access to every Americans private data etc.

I remember being taught about American politics at school and being so impressed by the system of checks and balances that ensured that no one was ever allowed to be that powerful. Yet, here we are.

Assassination!

That is no solution here. We would be stuck with JD Vance, who is every bit as dangerous as Trump. Maybe even more so.

Honestly, I think it's too late for the world now, and for the US. Trump has power for the next 4 years, and when you see how much damage he has done in the space of just a few weeks, it is hard to even imagine where we'll be in a few years. American democracy is being dismantled before our very eyes, and there is nothing that any of us can do about it.

The weirdest part of it all for me is that Trump told us what he was going to do from the start, and people still voted for him anyway. Terrifying to think that a nation can vote for its own destruction.

He is doing very well. And doing everything for the country. From expelling criminals to stopping LGBTQ grooming in schools to stopping males from taking part in women's sports. Also saving billions from fraud. Need him in the UK our once great country is a hovel now full of criminals taking over large areas and a pathetic woke police force arresting you for hurty words instead of cleaning up the streets!

The game’s up comrade. Time to look for a real job.

We don't have 12 years 'worst case'... If this systematic and premeditated demolition of the USA isn't stopped very soon, it'll be many decades before the tides turn and by then the world will be unrecognisable. (It already is! After 4 weeks!)

DUkrainians are all white so I don’t think Reform are too bothered by them.

Trump and those who support him are either incredibly ignorant or simply an embarrassment to politics.

Exactly this 👆
i
I think the woke Uni educated lefties should get over themselves.
The man is a mover and shaker. And don’t we need one of those over here in the UK before the country goes down the tubes.
Starmer, the farmer harmer, will lead us into a war.

He can’t protect our own borders let alone anyone else’s. But he’s happy to send your young sons into harms way.

Oh hmmm I forgot…. Of course it will be the plebs that will end up protecting Ukraine not the precious sons of the woke glitterati spouting bile against the US President.

Don’t listen to what he says, watch what he does!

The US will forge ahead while we become a third world country led by incompetents.

He is a fascist.

We don't need fascists here in the UK, or their cheerleaders.

You should be fucking ashamed of yourself.

Horrible - so those in Gaza can just starve to death?

28Fluctuations · 03/03/2025 20:29

Why do people keep treating the US like its just going through a bad patch and everything will go back to normal after 4 years? This is the America the voters wanted. It's his 2nd term...it was dead clear what they were voting for.

He has immunity from prosecution. He has the courts in his pocket. Republicans have fallen into line behind him. Voting rights are being restricted and constrained. The Constitution means nothing to him.

The USA as a democracy is over. We should all catch up with that reality.

His popularity - or lack of it - is meaningless. No one is shifting him.

I think it's hard for people to accept this, its painful. It makes us feel powerless.

The status quo has been in place for such a long time. We are witnessing the death of US democracy. It's hard to accept how gullible people are, how hate filled and how full of self interest that they will willingly support a monster.

But America is controlled by Russia. There can be no doubt now that Trump is a Putin shill.

There won't be elections in 4 years time in the USA. He's learnt from his mistakes from last time. He's not relying on a bunch of gung ho maga dullards at the last moment, he's decapitating the instruments of government every single day.

The situation is dire.

We will see wider war in Europe. Ukraine have saved us from that awful reality to date but it's only a matter of time.

The only option is for Europe to step in militarily with as much might as it can muster which is admittedly not much and to help rearm Ukraine with nuclear weapons. They gave them up on the basis of a US promise, and the US has broken that promise. It's time they had them back.

Our "once great country" is infinitely worse for having people in it who advocate for fascist leaders. Shame on you.

Kendodd · 04/03/2025 09:01

Bottom line.
I don't think a war, thousands of miles away that America isn't involved in with get Trump out. The Proud Boys were marching chanting Putins name before the election after all.
It's the price of eggs that'll harm Trump in America.

Dymaxion · 04/03/2025 09:04

he's decapitating the instruments of government every single day.

Can you give examples of this ? My knowledge of the mechanics of the American political system is fairly scant.

MrsBennetsPoorNerves · 04/03/2025 09:06

This is true. The impact of the tariffs won't help either, when Americans start to feel it.

The question is, will there be anything that they can do at that point?

Swiftie1878 · 04/03/2025 09:06

Don’t get me wrong, I can’t stand the man, but you can’t broker peace without enticing both sides to the table. He HAS to speak to Putin and convince him there’s a worthwhile conversation to be had.

Kendodd · 04/03/2025 09:10

With regard US military spending, I assume it's all spent with US defence companies? So what will happen with that? Will supply contracts just be cancelled and people made redundant, thereby harming US companies? Or will production continue and the US just stockpile arms ?
