The tide is turning on Trump

ImmediateReaction · 03/03/2025 17:30

  1. CNN now, poll shows majority of Americans disapprove of Trump.
  1. Commentator stated that Trump spoke about his several conversations with Putin and alarm bells ring, because Trump is parroting what Putin says. No independent thoughts?
  1. He comes over as having memory problems. He forgets what he said earlier.
  1. He needs help running press conferences and appears unable to manage without support.

Is he ill?

It's very odd.

I don't think CNN is a very reliable source to gage the opinion of Trump supporters.

Exactly this 👆
i
I think the woke Uni educated lefties should get over themselves.
The man is a mover and shaker. And don’t we need one of those over here in the UK before the country goes down the tubes.
Starmer, the farmer harmer, will lead us into a war.

He can’t protect our own borders let alone anyone else’s. But he’s happy to send your young sons into harms way.

Oh hmmm I forgot…. Of course it will be the plebs that will end up protecting Ukraine not the precious sons of the woke glitterati spouting bile against the US President.

Don’t listen to what he says, watch what he does!

The US will forge ahead while we become a third world country led by incompetents.

They are simply reporting news.

I honestly find it impossible to predict what will happen here.

We've never had such an experiment in fascism (let's not beat about the bush) in such a massive, wealthy, historically democratic country. In a world with social media and a tame technocracy on which the whole world is now incredibly reliant, all literally backed by the world's richest man.

But also in a country full of entitled people with guns.

So many things could happen:

  • Trump doesn't allow for an election next time around
  • Trump dies or is assassinated before the end of his term
  • The outright Christofascists get in and turn America into Gilead
  • He pisses off enough veterans or military that they actually rise against the government... and a zillion other things....

One thing I do know - whatever happens, this is going to be a disaster that it will take America decades to recover from. There is literally no good outcome I can imagine for this. 99% of Americans will get much poorer, Musk's 'savings' will cost infinitely more than they save through the consequences of losing so much federal infrastructure (for example, next time there's a natural disaster, which is getting much more common, it'll take far longer and therefore cost far more to restore things back to functioning). The tax cuts that go to the super-rich will be money lost to the American economy forever.

Edited

All of that.

The only certainty is that America as it was won't be back anytime soon, if ever.

The knock-on effects for the rest of the world are just as tough to predict. Thus far, it's managed to pull Europe together in a sort of horror-stricken comraderie.

Nope death, impeachment or resignation. I wouldn’t necessarily believe cnn polling it’s pretty biased. I did before the election and honestly thought we’d be living in a world with Kamala Harris as president.

There were never really any grounds for expecting a Harris win though ( sadly). Most polls were showing it as too close to call for a long time, and, away from polls, most commentators were pointing out how the key issues were likely to be immigration and the economy, on both of which Trump appeared to appeal to voters more.
As others have said, as much as I would be delighted if the tide was turning on Trump, I don’t think we’re there yet. 😔

A strong reminder that we must invest in our education systems.

SallyWD · 03/03/2025 21:20

But I think the majority of Americans always disapproved of him? Only 30% of people voted for him so I wonder how much of a shift there's actually been.
I still see a lot of support for him on social media. I really do hope the tide is turning though.

Definitely not coming across well. It seems to be a turning point that the whole (near enough) of Europe stepped up vocally after what happened. The fear of him seems to have passed now leaders realise he is an incredibly dangerous man, and stupid. The shouting match was such an embarrassment for the US.

Horriblevirusagain · 03/03/2025 21:46

He is doing very well. And doing everything for the country. From expelling criminals to stopping LGBTQ grooming in schools to stopping males from taking part in women's sports. Also saving billions from fraud. Need him in the UK our once great country is a hovel now full of criminals taking over large areas and a pathetic woke police force arresting you for hurty words instead of cleaning up the streets!

We DO NOT need him and his circus anywhere near UK!
I'm extremely gender critical but I'd rather forever use changing rooms with transwomen than have Trump and his junta here.

nearlylovemyusername · 03/03/2025 22:05

But jokes aside - this proliferation of trumpism here, like @Horriblevirusagain, is terrifying, it always starts with small voices and we need to be vigilant!

I think he’s got ideas about the Tates being his representatives here at some point 🥴

nearlylovemyusername · 03/03/2025 22:07

Zelensky demonstrated that it's actually possible to stand up to Trump & Co and the world needs to learn from him

Confrontayshunme · 03/03/2025 22:08

Disagree. All the Americans I know that supported him before are doubling down. The same ones that said Ukraine should defend its sovereignty and put a flag on ther FB profiles are now saying Zelensky brought it on them for provoking Russia.

As for the OP, I think it's wishfull thinking.

These polls are useless. 77mil of Americans voted for this criminal knowing full well what he did last time he didn't get his way. It's absolutely disgusting. Do half people in America have shit instead of brain. Any idiot would have told you that trump will be supporting putins agenda. It was obvious. And the worst is yet to come.

Switcher · 03/03/2025 22:30

Death will reach him one day. Let's hope that's before he declares himself president for life, after saying that only he carries out the will of the people and Congress impeaches him. He's not waning at all

suburberphobe · 03/03/2025 22:36

IWFH · 03/03/2025 22:38

I'm going to suggest you are being unreasonable not because I disagree with you, but because now he's elected, it really doesn't matter if he's unpopular. Sadly, being unpopular won't remove him from power.

To be fair, probably worse for Trump & the US too.

He’s a fool if he underestimates the problems Putin could cause the US if left unchecked.

CharlotteCChapel · 03/03/2025 22:50

I've noticed a pushback today. An army band played a song about people fighting a dictator in front of Trump.

Stories are coming in about Trump voters being sacked from government jobs, they didn't think it would happen to them.

A texas politician gave a speech that accused the minority damaging the US weren't immigrants or single parents but billionaires. He got a standing ovation.
