Middle-aged professional women doing drugs on the weekend

Is this common now? I was invited to a house party Saturday night and snow was being done quite openly, there were also Mary Jane vapes and Ecstasy passed around.

These were mainly mothers with adult grown sensible families. What is going on, am I totally not with it?

Was it always this way or is this scene infiltrating a different demographic now?

We always knew people like this did this, but was it this open and accepted?

I didn’t partake, still a great night.

That has absolutely nothing to do with what I’ve just said!

I never said it was.

Deedeesharpwhatkindoflady · 03/03/2025 13:02

It's not legal in this country,
Explain your hippy theory to the mother whose little girl was shot and killed.

What are you on about ? I’m challenging someone who said a spliff is more harmful than alcohol. Look at all the people killed by drunk driving every year including children.tell them alcohol isn’t harmful with your “wine o clock “ nonsense

KatyaKabanova · 03/03/2025 13:02

That’s my point. You aren’t giving any convincing arguments despite all this in depth knowledge you claim to have. You are just spouting random comments.

Fine. I'll be honest, I'm killing time because I'm in a chemotherapy unit. I have been sharper.
Anyway. In this exchange I haven't got personal or negative with you.
Let's leave it there.

I didn’t say anything personal about you either. I said you aren’t providing any convincing arguments.

TheIceBear · 03/03/2025 13:10

@KatyaKabanova sorry you are going through that. A close family member has recently been there. It’s really tough.

"you sound ridiculous"
"You sound like you have no knowledge".
I think that's personal.

You do sound like you have no knowledge of cannabis. It’s true .

No. It's not true.
Anyway. Time for me to go.

NewMarmiteJar · 03/03/2025 13:31

If it was legalised and controlled the tax could fund the mental health provisions this country so deliberately needs.

Doing as we've always done and expecting change is insane.

Bluh · 03/03/2025 13:52

So I think, most people on this thread agree. Drugs should be legalised and distributed safely - eliminating the abuse of children (county lines) and regulating safety. Win win. Many other countries do this. It’s time we did too

I think that would be the least worst option.
Intoxicating substances can be enjoyable and useful, they can also be problematic but prohibition causes more problems than it solves.

I agree anyway. It would not solve every drug related problem but would certainly solve a lot of problems and I can’t think how it would make things worse than they are with drug cartels profiting and abusing people.

Were they Sex People Elaine?

I have images of Lynne from Alan Partridge. "No thanks, I don't want to partake in your sex festival"

I am done with this, but have a family member still up for a bit of a party. Grown up children, empty nest, good disposable income. I would have thought CoL would have put a stop to this for many.

Would never do this myself as I have a child with high SN.

I haven't been aggressive or assumed I'm the only one with no experience? Where have I been aggressive. You've been quite aggressive if anything on this thread a lot of your comments are just you trying to guilt trip middle aged woman who enjoy the occasion line of coke because "young boys being exploited" all I've said is most of those "young boys" know exactly what they're doing that's why the age of criminal responsibility is 10 and half of them would attack you for looking at them.

I mean of course you're right buying drugs does encourage the drug trade but if you think bitching about how middle aged professional woman should refrain from enjoying the occasional line of a week end is going to make up for all the actual addicts buying heroin multiple times a day then idk what to say.

Of course there's fucked up shit going on in the world because of the drug trade but you're going to have a hard time convincing me to feel sorry for teenage boys doing "county lines" when I became a mother at 15, most of those kids know exactly what they're doing and aren't all cute and innocent just my opinion which you keep wanting to shout down 🤷🏻‍♀️

No one said they are cute and innocent- they have experienced trauma, poverty and exploitation. Hence how they have ended up drug dealers. You may have encountered many of these kids growing up in the same environment but you don't know their stories or understand the underlying causes of the behaviour.

I don't think class A drugs will ever be legalised - too many officials are part of the supply chain enjoying vast sums, staggering sums of tax free money.

Chunkilumptious · 03/03/2025 14:31

The ignorance on this thread is something else. Children exploited by drug suppliers don't get 'victim points' knocked off for not being big eyed shy orphans. Their behavioural issues are not an excuse for exploiting them with impunity.

Frankly could not give Less of a shit, a lot of people have experienced trauma and poverty and don't end out like these little shits and btw Im on Close terms with people who's family members went down the "county lines" route a lot of them come from normal families who's parents tried their best. Excusing the super young ones I'm talking under 12 these kids know exactly what they're doing.

These "kids" are the reason it's not safe to go into town after 6pm anymore even the actual addicts who they sell to aren't as dangerous.

That's just me and my opinion though like I said I became a mum when I was 15 so I haven't got much time for the "but they're young " excuse. I understand how you'd think differently if you had a more sheltered upbringing and didn't start living like an actual adult until you were in your twenties or whatever.

TheIceBear · 03/03/2025 14:57

@Scrubberdubber What about the people in other countries who are affected including children who live in absolute poverty and have nothing with very little education. I wouldn’t really call those people “little shits” for getting involved when you see the circumstances they are faced with. Everyone in the uk is extremely privileged in comparison

I said in another comment a few pages back (not being snippy I don't blame you for not reading 13 pages of this) that I know the drug trade causes fucked up shit to happen all over the world but my rants were specifically about the "kids" involved in what they call "county lines" in the UK.

Personally I don't do drugs am not middle aged or a professional I just don't see why the op has singled out that specific group to moan about as if everyone suddenly becomes interested in bird watching and baking the day they turn 30 or become a doctor. Ditto the other poster who was blaming middle aged professional women for the demand in drugs as if the occasional line of coke on the weekend compares to the demand from heroin addicts scoring multiple times a day.

rightinthedavinamccalls · 03/03/2025 16:08

I'm cringing at the folks mocking the OP for saying Mary Jane vapes. They're so out of the loop that they don't know that they're a brand of vapes not just a reference to back in the day.

Why is OP fuming about the Mary Jane vapes?

OK, why mention it the same as cocaine and ecstasy?
