To be jealous of everyone getting slim in weight loss jabs while I get fatter !

Sundayslump · 02/03/2025 08:18

Okay - lighthearted ? Maybe.

I’ve been lucky to grow up and be a size 10 . Had a baby at 27. Lost all the weight but my body changed. Baby 2 , again gained 4 stone but I’ve always kept the last stone. I am now 12/14 uk.

I work full time and have two children . I eat healthy for the most part and walk and exercise. When I am super strict which feels so much harder at 40 I am a size 12 but unlike in my 30s it seems so much harder to lose weight now . I feel crap in my clothes and I wish and dream of being a size 10. Call me pathetic !

My brother and his wife , twos sisters and their husbands , work colleagues and a few of my good friends who were never obese but had a few stone to lose are all taking weight loss jabs. They have all lost around 2/3/4 stone and are all now looking fab . All the women are now in size 8 jeans and I am jealous. I sound pathetic . None of these ladies were any bigger than a 14/16 to start with.

I totally understand these jabs are so life changing for so many people who need them but it seems in my life everyone has taken them and gone from a 14/16 to a size 8/6 size Uk and I can’t help but feel like if I just bloody jump on the bandwagon I will feel good, feel happy and be slim.

Now everyone around me is so slim I feel ever more aware of my size .

I want to state I exercise and do eat a healthy diet . I have just found after two babies and getting older unless I basically stick to 1200 calories a day I can’t maintain a size 12.
Ahhhhhh. Sorry for sounding so so so vain.

I’ve been lucky to grow up and be a size 10 .

A lot of us have never been lucky to have the hormones for this. I am 12-14 lost 4 stone on jabs. Definitely not a 8-10.

I am tempted to get the jabs as well. But with a bmi of 20 I don't think I can get them even if I pay for them? I just feel it's a pain to be hungry and have to eat. I rather eat when I want to without being hungry as it seem you can on mounjaro. Like if I'm hungry at 11 I just have to eat, I can't wait until 12-13 which is a bummer if you're invited somewhere. With Mounjaro this wouldn't be an issue so I'm jealous, yes.

You want weight loss medication, even though you are a healthy weight because you want to be able to wait an hour to eat your lunch?
Batshit.

You do know that on the jabs you still only get to eat c1200 calories? It’s not a magic potion.

Thats not true, its different for everyone. I eat 1600 calories for weight loss and its plenty when on MJ.

Tbf to OP being size 14/16 is not a medical issue.

I am also curious how they managed to get the jabs anyway at that sizes

I am a size 16, 13st 5, and BMI 32. I am obese with 3 ish stone to lose

I find it hard to imagine how anyone could have "a few stone" to lose and not be obese TBH

Sundayslump · 02/03/2025 08:48

My 3 siblings told me they didn’t see a doctor . They just had a face to face video chat and said my Height is x and my weight is x and they were prescribed. No going to any face to face appointment. So I am assuming it isn’t very hard to attain the prescription …

"A BMI of 20" and you think you'd like to use such drugs? My friend, that's eating disorder talk...

TheMorels · 02/03/2025 08:49

They are all buying the jabs online. So they aren’t prescribed. Buying mounjaro online doesn’t mean it’s not prescribed, it is but via an online pharmacy and prescribed via their doctors.

I was similar to you, OP. Having been really slim my whole life, my weight crept up about 3 years ago. I was fed up being a size 14 (and on the upper end of that scale). I’d diet and lose and gain the same 10 pounds or so, but never get down to a slim size.

Mounjaro has been nothing short of amazing for me. No side effects whatsoever and I’m more than 3 stone down and the slimmest I’ve been in years. I’m thrilled and no longer hating to see myself in photos or avoiding looking at myself when I get undressed. My friends also are having tremendous success on it.

capybaraqueen · 02/03/2025 08:49

debtfreeme the Middle East.

Everyone from the obese to those who want to just lose a stone is on the jabs here. Colleague of mine wanted to shift just a few kilos for her wedding day so took it for a month.

Violashifts · 02/03/2025 08:50

Also you do feel hunger especially towards the end of the week and when you get used to it.

The sickness, the toiket issues and still have to calorie count. It is an option that works but it isn't an easy one.
I put on 5lbs this week and am on the jab. You can still eat just makes it a bit easier not to.

I am so happy for people to take them who need it . I am saying people around me are using them to just lose a few stone instead of dieting and I’m wondering if I should just do the same as I am so envious of their slim figures. They are all buying the jabs online. So they aren’t perscribed.

They’re still prescribed as it’s an online pharmacy. Everyone round here is on them to lose a couple of stone. I predict in 12-18 months time the need to be at BMI 30 will change because if you start there you continue being prescribed to whatever weight you want - so why can’t you ge them at BMI 26 or whatever to start.

Like other PPs have said it’s the food noise reduction that’s the life changing bit. No matter what size you are it’s there for some people. So instead of white knuckling it in your head to stay at a your ideal weight these jabs turn it off and make it easy.

C080889 · 02/03/2025 08:52

OP I was concerned about starting them but honestly they have been life changing. Good and bad!

Ive name changed but wanted to share my experience.

Size 18. BMI 33. Health conditions. Ive always been considered 'Pretty' facially. Good sense of humor. The bubbly chubby one, you know the type.
Im now a size 12 (tall) I feel great. I look good but WOW the hate / envy is unreal. I know people at work have made snide comments. Nothing about 'me' has changed. Yes I dress nicer. I no longer hide under baggy clothes, but its crazy how people change towards you.

Some of the side effects have been horrendous I wont lie. But diet alone wasnt working for me (the food noise was hell, i dont have the willpower) and due to injury can no longer exercise more than gentle walks for this reason I wanted the weight off. It seems some people would rather see me heading towards a wheelchair than a size 10.

FatGirlLosing · 02/03/2025 08:52

lastinglily · 02/03/2025 08:45

Is that all it is then? You get to eat 1200 cals but have no 'food noise'? If so, I could probably train my stomach with a bit of effort not to expect my admittedly large portions at every meal. After 4 days, I'd be in the zone and stop craving as many carbs and big meals.

Around 1200 works for me. I’m losing about 0.5kg so not huge amounts but have less to lose I prefer that. Now I’ve trained my eye/mind more than my stomach to understand what a portion looks like I’m pretty confident going forward. My issue was that the amount I exercise and the fact my diet has always been predominantly healthy I ate without thinking about how much when hungry. The Zoe app tipped me over another 2 stone with the here’s the things you can eat freely philosophy- turns out you can’t when you have a dodgy ‘off switch’ and rarely feel full. The MJ means I feel full whilst still eating and simply stop.

Presumably they're just paying for them?

Yes but have to have a BMI over 30 to get then in Uk.

You have to send photographs of yourself too.

I agree that it's too easy for people to manipulate the system.

But if you don't qualify, and you are worried about the risks etc, then you don't take it, simple as that. No point being jealous of the people who do qualify, or are happy to lie and risk their health to get it.

ItisIbeserk · 02/03/2025 08:54

OP, you’ve upskilled yourself rapidly on the online pharmacy procedure. Well done.

I’m a size 12. The slimmest I’ve ever been in my life thanks to weight loss drugs. I’ve had a lifetime of being criticised, patronised and laughed at. I am happy every time I look in the mirror. It’s all relative, isn’t it?

NoOneKnowsWhoYouAre · 02/03/2025 08:55

I feel you OP. I've been between 8.5-9.5 tone my entire adult life even after having children, but in the last year I am up to nearly 11stone! I feel huge and think I look awful. I was blaming it on the menopause, but before I started HRT they did bloods which show I'm subclinical hypothyroidism. Annoyingly because it's subclinical (despite me having all the symptoms) they won't treat it immediately so I've had to have 3 more sets of blood tests. Fingers crossed I have a GP appointment next week and hopefully they will start me on medication.

I literally hardly eat, my DH is stunned that I don't lose weight. A standard day for me would be a slice of toast for lunch and a small evening meal. I don't snack, I do drink red wine but not a lot and not every day.

I also exercise a lot - I cycle 75 miles a week. On days I cycle I add a bowl of porridge to me eating but that's it.

Anyway, no advice, just solidarity.

Lovemycat2023 · 02/03/2025 08:55

Not unreasonable at all. I’ve put on just over a stone, and being short gone from just about healthy BMI to 27 BMI. I really feel it as well, esp round my waist.

I know when I was younger I moved more, esp walking to work, and that kept the weight off. I exercise a decent amount but I know it’s more about the food and I just love food too much.

But I won’t try the jabs. I don’t have any conditions which would make me eligible, and I worry about the long term side effects too. If I can’t do it myself I will need to make peace with that (easier said than done).

I clarified elsewhere - I am referring to the OP and as it happens 1200 is roughly what I need to lose. 1600 would see me maintain. I am on MJ

I'm still eating just under 1800 calories a day on 2.5mg.

God yes! So true.

I have lost almost 7 stone this last year, going from a size 20 to a size 10. I feel amazing and in the main people are complimentary but the amount of gossip behind my back and snide comments are depressing. I'm so glad I'm moving to a new workplace soon where no one will know I used to be fat!

TheStigarette · 02/03/2025 08:56

Once they stop the jabs will they just go back to their old weight? Genuine question. I don't know anything about the jabs.

Sundayslump · 02/03/2025 08:57

Okay , thanks all for replies and experiences. It just all just seems abit too good to be true ? But I guess the only way for me to know is to try it . Then if I don’t like it I would stop! I guess it is like Botox. You can get it or not. I will reframe my jealousy and say-
i want to take weight loss jabs as i really want to be slim but I’m nervous about side effects !

Do these jabs raise metabolism or simply stop you from wanting to eat? How to they help people who are already on a strict and disciplined diet that struggle to lose weight?

They can help with insulin resistance.

RedJamDoughnut · 02/03/2025 08:59

I had them for 4 months & my appetite was not surpressed & I still thought about food. They are nit magic for everyone. Exercise & calorie counting for me all very hard especially with damily/ work
