To be jealous of everyone getting slim in weight loss jabs while I get fatter !

Sundayslump · 02/03/2025 08:18

Okay - lighthearted ? Maybe.

I’ve been lucky to grow up and be a size 10 . Had a baby at 27. Lost all the weight but my body changed. Baby 2 , again gained 4 stone but I’ve always kept the last stone. I am now 12/14 uk.

I work full time and have two children . I eat healthy for the most part and walk and exercise. When I am super strict which feels so much harder at 40 I am a size 12 but unlike in my 30s it seems so much harder to lose weight now . I feel crap in my clothes and I wish and dream of being a size 10. Call me pathetic !

My brother and his wife , twos sisters and their husbands , work colleagues and a few of my good friends who were never obese but had a few stone to lose are all taking weight loss jabs. They have all lost around 2/3/4 stone and are all now looking fab . All the women are now in size 8 jeans and I am jealous. I sound pathetic . None of these ladies were any bigger than a 14/16 to start with.

I totally understand these jabs are so life changing for so many people who need them but it seems in my life everyone has taken them and gone from a 14/16 to a size 8/6 size Uk and I can’t help but feel like if I just bloody jump on the bandwagon I will feel good, feel happy and be slim.

Now everyone around me is so slim I feel ever more aware of my size .

I want to state I exercise and do eat a healthy diet . I have just found after two babies and getting older unless I basically stick to 1200 calories a day I can’t maintain a size 12.
Ahhhhhh. Sorry for sounding so so so vain.

OP I don't live in the uk and where I am you can very simply walk into a pharmacy and buy mounjaro over the counter. You can even WhatsApp them and have it delivered. As a result EVERYONE here is on it.

I've watched friends and colleagues use it to shift a stone and have been so envious.

Like you I was always slim. I work out 5-6 times a week; walk everywhere, watch every mouthful. Food noise is DEAFENING.

I wanted to shift 5 kg so guess what? I succumbed to the jabs two weeks ago.

Absolutely life changing!!!! Food noise gone along with appetite. I'll use it for a month and then I'm done.

Absolutely ZERO side effects. None. I'm still training hard, feel great, eating healthily, BUT no sugar bingeing in the evenings and small portions. AND NO FOOD NOISE!

Totally prepared to get flamed as I wasn't obese to begin with but honestly I've been the model eater and exercise all my life and I wanted to switch all the noise off so I could lose an annoying 5kg. No regrets here!

Do you know, this actually makes me wonder if maybe those who don’t have much to lose are in a way good candidates, if drug supply wasn’t an issue. You probably have to take it for such a short time that negative effects will be minimal.

I do think there is hope too that these drugs will improve, I think efforts are afoot to try and come up with formulations that will reduce some of the negative effects and also in some cases pinpoint effects that are not weight loss related so that those benefits can be gained by people who don’t want to lose weight.

Hmm, a month might well work, depending on how much she wants to lose. Based on my experience, my appetite stayed very reduced for around 2/3 weeks afterwards too, so I kept losing.

I’m considering trying a month. Interested to read any more info from people who’ve tried this.

Summerlovin24 · 02/03/2025 21:24

Mate on the jabs having lots of health issues including kidneys since being on it. It cannot just be a coincidence
Don't do the jabs. Likely to put it all on after anyway.

When they all get heavier again and have problems snd you are the same weight you will be glad you didnt

I have recently bought MJ. I’ve taken my second dose today.
Im late 40’s, BMI 28.
I bought online; had to submit my vital stats and a photo. Clearly I looked fat enough in the photo because it was approved within minutes! I also had to give my GP details and they say they inform them.
I’m only going to do a month. I’m worrying about the side effects a lot (my DH is furious and convinced I’m going to die, so far I’ve just had a bit of diahorrea and been totally knackered) but I’m using it to try to understand what I need to eat, rather than what I want to eat. It might not work, in that case I’ve basically just lost £120.

The first 4 weeks of 2.5mg is just to get you used to the drug and some people don't lose anything....you are aware of that?

L0309 · 02/03/2025 21:27

They have been around for years please get your facts straight before you come at me.

See what happens when you stop taking them.

Cotonsugar · 02/03/2025 10:47

This. I’ve wondered the same thing.

It’s simple enough. I was obese at 14/16 (as are many others) and eligible to get it prescribed. Obesity is a medical issue. Because of my weight I also had high cholesterol and high blood pressure, both of which are now normal.

PEARLJAM123 · 02/03/2025 21:28

The goal of life is not to be thin.

purplehair1 · 02/03/2025 21:29

Yes. I’m in my 50’s now and a size 14 when I always used to be able to eat whatever I wanted and still stay slim. I’ve begun to accept that I should eat 1/3 of what I used to eat it I want to get slim again. Unfortunately I like my food too much to do that! I do lots of walking but it seems to have bugger all effect.

Titasaducksarse · 02/03/2025 21:33

I'm on mounjaro and the more I read the more I know we'll start hearing the negatives of it due to the following:

  1. people lying about weight to get it therefore taking medication not designed for them

  2. people only doing a month, not understanding the first 4 weeks is just to get used to it

  3. people extracting and injecting the 'golden dose' thus leaving selves open to unhygienic or unsafe administration

  4. people buying from dodgy sources

  5. people not wanting their GP to be made aware

  6. side effects and not eating well whilst taking it. I know others have said otherwise but I do think the majority of people who have side effects are continuing to either eat crap or too much sugar and fat

Just a few observations

Popettypop · 02/03/2025 21:38

I am 60 been taking them for 6 months.

I would advocate all day long to do what makes you happy and for me slim equals happy.

I was 63kg to begin with but as I am 5ft my BMI was high enough to be able to get them.

Zero side effects just a lot lot slimmer and healthier now.

I have also managed to stop smoking as all 'noise' just seems to shut up.

I have put on no weight since stopping as I had six months to get my head around healthy eating and exercise.

Just like NRT I used them both at the same time and I am able to maintain my thoughts without the 'crutch' of medication or NRT.

My husband has stopped drinking he his healthy we walk we cycle we swim so it has been a massive game changer for us.

I think you’re just guessing point 6 because you can’t possibly know the dietary habits of the people getting worse side effects. So you’ve just decided they are somehow at fault despite the manufacturer’s listing fairly common side effects as nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, constipation etc.

If gastric upsets weren’t a common side effect then the manufacturers & doctors/pharmacists wouldn’t warn users about the possibility. They don’t say you’ll be fine as long as you eat sensibly do they?

Glorybox2025 · 02/03/2025 21:16

She is if she has other health issues, and what do you mean a month 'won't work' - clearly it is working, as it works for many people in the first month.

  1. I would expect that to have been mentioned.
  2. weight loss over a month wouldn’t be minimal and you would gain it again even quicker than you lost it. It is not designed as a short term quick fix.

We had similar with the Covid vaccine
They couldnt blame the side effects of this on what people ate so they called ppl anti vaxxers (even though they had taken the vaccine which is fucking bizarre all by itself) or told them they were making it up or imagining it

HandHold174686 · 02/03/2025 21:50

It's not an easy decision to make and it's not without side effects! I was obese, and it was having a real impact on my health, in lots of ways.

So, I started wegovy 5 weeks ago. It's been 5 weeks of nausea! It's been a struggle to prepare the kids food, the food noise is still present but I feel too sick to actually eat much.

So in my experience it's not an easy decision or an easy process! But compared to the effects I had from being obese, I'm happy to give it a try.

I think it'll be like Botox in years to come. It'll feel like everyone has it, but really lots of people don't!

the fact that you’re asking this suggests that you’ve done zero to no research.

You start on a low dose and build up so the side effects are minimal. Weight loss in the first month definitely happens but it is mot the optimal window. And you’re likely to put it all back on.

Titasaducksarse · 02/03/2025 22:00

Inyournewdress · 02/03/2025 21:49

What is the golden dose?

There is medication left in the pen after 4 doses.
Apparently you used to be able to break the pen to get it out but now some people buy diabetic needles to extract a 5th aka golden dose.

Queenofheart · 02/03/2025 22:02

MinnieCoops · 02/03/2025 08:45

Best thing I've done for myself in years. I am very grateful to the jabs.

If anyone needs a £40 off your first pen discount code please DM me, it's honestly been life changing to lose 3 stone.

OP, do some research and if you want to try them then go for it.

Hi, I can’t seem to dm you , can you tell me which site you use, I’m like you, about 3 stone to lose, so I’d like to give it a go. Thanks

I acknowledge that, however I know people on WLI who, through their own admission of either drinking too much alcohol or eating crap have made themselves ill.

Pharmacists are still prescribing these drugs for exactly the same clinical reasons as GPs are - obesity (and all the risks to health that come alongside that clinical condition). "Aesthetics" are merely a happy side effect of weight loss... Research shows multiple benefits from "Weight Loss Jabs"

That's not the reason many people are wanting this drug prescribed; it's just the way they are getting the prescription. Aesthetics first, health benefits are a happy side effect.

That’s not true, not for weight loss. They’ve been around as diabetic drugs, but you wouldn’t have been taking them on and off for that reason, as you claim.

Obese at size 14/16 - that’s not obese to me! That’s the average size of women in the U.K. isn’t it ?

September 2023 for Wegovy, November 2023 for Mounjaro. You’ve been caught in a lie, I would stop digging.

Like so many others on this thread and out in the world generally, you’re making up rubbish to disparage these injections. If you’re actually concerned, maybe do some real research so you have actual facts to hand, rather than fake, fear mongering nonsense?
