To think Trump is right

1000 replies

Donotpanicoknowpanic · 01/03/2025 08:04

Watching the press conference last night which descended into an argument

I can't help think Trump was right and made good points

Thousands of troops are dying and being seriously injured every month

Trump wants it to stop

There are thousands of people who have children alive today who will not be alive tomorrow because of this war

They are clearly in a stalemate and soldiers are now dying untill peace terms are made as no side can win on the battlefield

Trump as brutal as it sounds was being realistic about what peace would be like

Ukraine has to be realistic

If Ukraine sign the rare earth deal with America then America will have a stake in Ukraine and they should then get a better security deal

Trump has not agreed what that is yet, it's clear he wants the European's to form a big part of that

The European's want American troops and for good reason

But this has to stop and the only way it will stop is by peace negotiations

And these have to be realistic and Trump is saying it as it is

Trump and his muppet of a VP, turned on Zelenskyy when he had the guts to ask them “what kind of diplomacy so you want Mr Vance” and pointed out how Zelenskyy signed a peace deal with Russia when he came to power and how Putin has gone against this deal.
Trump and Vance hated the fact Zelenski was right and they looked like idiots so the nasty pair of bullies turned on a man who has more integrity and leadership in his little finger than the whole of Trump and his government.

your naivety is astounding.

I think you'll find all those countries get their media from the same one source.

They heard the interview. They are anti Putin.

People aren't stupid. They know Russia is an aggressor and that America is sliding towards communism.

No one HAS to wear a suit.

He can wear what he wants.

I go to business meetings. The men often don't wear suits.

They don't. For the Zelensky/Trump meeting, they got it from the White House press feed.

Bertaboo · 01/03/2025 13:36

Trump is a horrible man.

I remember how bad it was when trump was last in power.

It felt like everyone in the whole world gor nastier and meaner.

As that's what trump promotes.

The way he spoke to zelensky today was so rude and nasty. People will now start to copy trump.

Blame the victim. It's the victims fault etc

rainingsnoring · 01/03/2025 13:30

Why do you think that is?

I said that there was nothing to suggest that he wants to attack the rest of Europe. What you have said appears to support this.

No because you said he wants a Ukraine out of NATO etc... he doesn't want a Ukraine or the Baltic states... they will become a part of Russia.

So why do you think he would stop there? many former NATO generals didn't think he would invade Ukraine.

There is everything to suggest he would go further, once the US is out of it, its going to be very hard to stop him... even Finland but certainly more former USSR states.

MarvellousMarch · 01/03/2025 13:37

@Perplexed20 except even eccomics Kiev guy thinks it's a good deal for Ukraine

The UK is not one of the most powerful countries in Europe anymore.

Countries outside the UK, in Europe, usually describe the UK as a shitshow.

Zelensky is in no position to be rude when he goes cap in hand for money to the US for a war that is going nowhere. I believe in realpolitik, believing in political practicalities not dogma and certainly not the ill informed hysteria displayed by so many here.
how would you feel if your son was fighting a war that has no end? that your country has been decimated, families broken apart. Children growing up in a foreign country?
Ukraine is not going to win unless Europe and the US declare an all out war on Russia and that is not going to happen. Trump is offering a way out for Ukraine that will benefit the whole country, Zelensky blew it by being a prima donna.
I suggest that you don't let your dislike of Trump become all out derangement and you exercise a little judicious common sense.
Look at the whole press conference, see how badly behaved Zelensky was. I doubt that you will, it might disturb your prejudices.

You clearly watched a completely different press conference to the vast majority of the rest of us.

If we Americans haven't given a lot of money to Ukraine (we have) then Europe won't mind if we take our tiny contributions and go home.

If you're going to fuck off, would you mind not gouging Ukraine on the way out?

LifeExperience · 01/03/2025 13:38

BigDecisionWorthIt · 01/03/2025 12:43

This pretty much sums up a big issue.

Putin has already threatened an escalated response if Starmer and the US (previously Biden) continued to allow Ukraine to use British and US missiles to target infrastructure in mainland Russia.

This has gone past the conflict on the FLOT/FLET. That is a stalemate. It is morphing into a war of attrition and proxy war against Russia.

One thing our media or people don't understand is although Russia don't have the capability from a ground perspective. Their air defence and air power is second to none. They pose a massive threat through air to surface, surface to surface and surface to air missiles. The ranges of the systems and what they can target without having to stretch is a real danger.

The UK would be defenceless.

If anyone takes the time to read, to stand chance of winning a war, you need power and need air superiority and then air supremacy after that... something that neither side currently have but Russia could take it in a moment.
If Russia escalate this with Nato counties, then straight away they have the power of airspace denial... which would shut off NATO air power.

Another thing the left media omitted and left out. Something that will have a deciding point for Trump. Biden and his incompetence allowed Turkey back into the F-35 program even after they have acquired Russian SA-21 SAMs.
This puts the US, UK and NATO at risk of Russia gaining the information needed for their mainland SA-21s to now target F-35s.
Now the big selling point of the F-35 was it being stealth and having the capability to operate to some sort of safety in missile engagement zones of modern SAM systems such as the SA-21.
Biden's move risks leaving the US, UK and NATO with zero 5th generation aircraft that could operate in range of the SA-21 and thus gifting Russia the opportunity to gain air superiority and then air supremacy after that if they decide to escalate.

I think a lot of people need to take a step back from their hatred of Trump and look at some of the issues posed militarily... even if Trump is not good at getting that point across.

Finally someone who knows what's going on! Thank you! It's not as simple as "the BBC told me to hate Trump so everything he does is bad." There are complex military and strategic considerations to all of this.

What Zelensky wants, which is the US military going toe to toe with the Russians on Ukrainian soil, will cause WWIII. So the US isn't going to let it happen.

@BigDecisionWorthIt

There's some good images through Google that show the range rings of the SA-21 when they deployed it to Syria

Anybody can draw generic range rings for systems, the MSM and some of the pundits love them and yes some of them look very impressive.

In reality a lot of these supposed maximum ranges are massively optimistic, and in the aviation environment (specifically surface to air and air to air) they are meaningless without knowing the dynamics of the engagements and TBH a host of other variables.

Edited

Not exactly generic and can give a reliable visual representation of what can be achieved.

You can get the stats from accurate sources (Ausairpower) for one is great. Army Recognition another. US ODIN is another one as an open source one stop shop for the US military.

Not meaningless. Again the ranges are accurate show what the actual missile engagement zones are. For the SA-21 with the upgraded missiles that is 400km. Draw 400km around the Russian mainland and it gives a good idea on their coverage.
Those ranges don't take into consideration the additional range of the related equipment, for example the CHEESE BOARD target acquisition RADAR that will track the targets prior to that 400km range. Before that you have the early warning RADARs. The range on them would allow Russia to pretty much know when aircraft potentially take off from their homebases.

And in an aviation environment, they definitely aren't meaningless. Those ranges will be taken into consideration when formulating flight plans, altitude and orbit. And in any environment where there is an increased threat, they will not operate or fly within the missile engagement zone (seen from experience). Again that can fully change the flight plan and alter whatever type of sortie was planned.
In peace time when their is no intent or threat, then obviously they'll operate within it.
