To think Trump is right

1000 replies

Donotpanicoknowpanic · 01/03/2025 08:04

Watching the press conference last night which descended into an argument

I can't help think Trump was right and made good points

Thousands of troops are dying and being seriously injured every month

Trump wants it to stop

There are thousands of people who have children alive today who will not be alive tomorrow because of this war

They are clearly in a stalemate and soldiers are now dying untill peace terms are made as no side can win on the battlefield

Trump as brutal as it sounds was being realistic about what peace would be like

Ukraine has to be realistic

If Ukraine sign the rare earth deal with America then America will have a stake in Ukraine and they should then get a better security deal

Trump has not agreed what that is yet, it's clear he wants the European's to form a big part of that

The European's want American troops and for good reason

But this has to stop and the only way it will stop is by peace negotiations

And these have to be realistic and Trump is saying it as it is

Zelensky was a fool to publicly try to embarrass the Americans. They have given more than double the amount the Europeans have with no sign of an end to the conflict. Neither Russia or Ukraine can win this.

They have given more than double the amount the Europeans have
Um no. That's bullshit.

This. I think "we all probably die" is an exaggeration, but it is clearly that the old world order is now gone for good, pretty much overnight, and the only way the new order will be established is through blood and fire, lots and lots of it.
Tomorrow is a decisive day to understand how Europe will react. I am an atheist but for the first time in my life I have something resembling a desire to pray.

Yeah, I guess I said it badly - I was reading the posts upthread that were seeming to be like, well, I don't WANT to die in a war, as if it was like a new phone contract: those terms don't suit me, I'll pick something else. But do they imagine that other people do want to die in wars? Nobody does. It happens anyway.

Millymoonshine · 01/03/2025 12:33

@Donotpanicoknowpanic you want Ukraine to be divided up by the US and Russia to stop a war.
And then afterwards?
What country is next?
It won’t stop with Ukraine.
Dictators don’t stop.

They have to be stopped.

Hysterics again. This situation needs tactical thinking. Placate Putin, keep US on side and start building up our defenses. Same for Europe....it's time to pay for it and not rely on America. But sticking the finger up to America would be a dumb ass thing to do.

ZooAccountant · 01/03/2025 12:33

Because Putin doesn't want a world war.

Why is he building up his defence spending, his army, training up North Korean troops and buddying up to China and Iran then?

Can you really not see which way the wind is blowing?

CleansUpButWouldPreferNotTo · 01/03/2025 08:52

That reporter who was so rude asking Zelenskyy why he didn't wear a suit, he was so disrespectful - the whole thing was a set up to pile onto Zelenskyy. Putin must have been rolling around laughing.

And if Zelenskyy's military garb was ok with her late Majesty, it was certainly ok for America. Trump / Vance the infantile terrible twins behaved abominably. Would they have told off Fidel Castro for not wearing a suit? I doubt it.

The whole set up yesterday was an utter disgrace.

He is Majorie Taylor greens boyfriend she is close to Trump big racist, told one of the uk’s reporters to F off she is a nasty piece of work. He had to do something to ingratiate himself to Trump.

MarvellousMarch · 01/03/2025 12:37

@Susan7654

Actually he has but it's subtle. If you listen to his rambles he does, he bigs up the USA military might and says no one wants to push it.
His very nature will be confusing for kgb agent putin

He said yesterday I can't be rude about putin then get on the phone and say let's make a deal.

Rubio and the team are all aware of putin danger and they will be trying to break the dead lock and manage this.

Biden also had an unpleasant chat with zelensky and asked him to be mote greatful.

I don't know . I
It sounds as if you are saying that war is the only way-we're out of options.
If we are, there will be conscription and other hardships.
But the biggest hardship for me would be seeing my sons killed over some fight between war mongering men.

Anyway, as I said earlier, by not wanting war and by not wanting conscription-which will be inevitable-I am in the minority but I salute all those mothers who are braver than me.

I thought that the thought of our children dying would mean a lot of mums thought like me, but knowing that the vast majority are prepared to make that sacrifice has been an eye opener for me.

I suppose it shouldn't have been-after all, mothers in WW! and WW2 made the same sacrifice-their maternal love would have been the same and they willingly did it, were proud and it seems it's the same in our generation.

I'm out on a limb.

They didn’t ’make a sacrifice’. Their sons were ordered to join the war effort and the mothers had no power to intervene. This isn’t about ‘sacrifice’. The fact you think this is a matter of willpower and emotion shows you’re not really up to the debate.

Don't be daft. No one wants to send their sons to die in war.

Is it very cold in Moscow at this time of year? I’ve reported your post.

Why? Because the poster gives a different point of view?

It seems censorship is already starting.

He'd have gone further if he did already

TheAmusedQuail · 01/03/2025 12:38

@Donotpanicoknowpanic Zelensky was quickly supported in posts on X by the leaders of France, Sweden, Germany, Ireland, Finland, Denmark, The Netherlands, Austria, Luxembourg, Slovenia, Canada, Croatia, Romania, Poland, the Czech Republic and Portugal, among other nations.

So I think you'll find the world other than Trump and Putin thinks the orange bloke is wrong.

Too late, Trump has already said NATO is over.

If he will not help Ukraine, which is helping Europe in general, he wont lift a finger if Russia went into Estonia.

Exactly.

Delete them all, however, I wouldn't be surprised if Mr. Zelensky and Mr. Putin had a little business together.

Shouting down the leader of a war torn country on international TV is the worst form of censorship.

MarvellousMarch · 01/03/2025 12:39

@Catpuss66 @CleansUpButWouldPreferNotTo

If I was making such a rude comment I would make sure I looked immaculate, unbelievable that such a man would call out zelensky.
Trump appeared to defend zelensky dress and said he thought he looked good.

The talk of suits sounded very gangster like,
Especially with talk of tough guys.

And no, women won’t be conscripted. Men will not fight if there is nothing to protect at home.

@ZooAccountant Maybe.
But he does want to control more and more neighbouring countries He’s got Georgia, Belarus, now is aiming for Ukraine. When do we say ‘that’s enough”?
Do we give him all the countries, which were controlled by USSR? Shall we give him East Germany as well?

MarvellousMarch · 01/03/2025 12:41

You sound like we are back in the 1930s. Appeasement never works.
Putin will carry on with his aim of bringing other countries back into the Russian sphere aka Empire.

True, so Europe need to sort out their defense and not piss off America.

I can’t believe Vance had the cheek to argue against conscription, when Vietnam was waged by the very men the US conscripted. Vance needs a history lesson.

He also needs a lesson in the methods the USA employed concerning conscription to Vietnam. Google McNamaras Morons.
