To think Trump is right

1000 replies

Donotpanicoknowpanic · 01/03/2025 08:04

Watching the press conference last night which descended into an argument

I can't help think Trump was right and made good points

Thousands of troops are dying and being seriously injured every month

Trump wants it to stop

There are thousands of people who have children alive today who will not be alive tomorrow because of this war

They are clearly in a stalemate and soldiers are now dying untill peace terms are made as no side can win on the battlefield

Trump as brutal as it sounds was being realistic about what peace would be like

Ukraine has to be realistic

If Ukraine sign the rare earth deal with America then America will have a stake in Ukraine and they should then get a better security deal

Trump has not agreed what that is yet, it's clear he wants the European's to form a big part of that

The European's want American troops and for good reason

But this has to stop and the only way it will stop is by peace negotiations

And these have to be realistic and Trump is saying it as it is

The war does need to end and it could happen very easily by Putin ending it. If Putin stops fighting the war ends, if Ukraine stop fighting Ukraine ends. Simple really. If Trump wants it to end he needs to get Putin to stop.

I don't think an aggressor in any war in history, has simply "stopped".

And it's naive to think that Russia will just stop.

They have always needed to be stopped by outside forces.

The rest of Europe needs to intervene and fight Russia. To get them to stop

Does he?I’m not seeing massive support. Quite the reverse all over SM.

Yes I've seen loads. I'm neither a bot nor a Trump supporter, very much the opposite. But I do try to read opposing views.

Igotjelly · 01/03/2025 12:20

Christmasmorale · 01/03/2025 12:16

So your opinion that there is a national security risk (expressed without actual inside knowledge to assess that risk) from people expressing differing views to yours means that those posters should be censored?

Now I don't support Putin or Trump but I do think censoring people from genuinely debating these issues and challenging the position that we are fed will be harmful in the longterm.

Yes I think allowing Russian disinformation to stand in a public forum is a national security risk and akin to election interference.

So Russia gets a bit of Ukraine and USA gets a bit of Ukraine, what’s in it for Ukraine and the rest of the world? Where does it stop?

not Ukranian but another similar country; There comes times when peace is not everything, morals, honour and dying for what is right is; seems the majority on this planet live only for their stomachs and nothing else

Proud with Zelensky and if war come to the UK and whatever else we might be, we will be fighting for our rights

C0tt0nCandy · 01/03/2025 12:13

You are throwing your child under a far bigger bus.

Am I @C0tt0nCandy . What bigger bus would that be?

I have two sons. How can you say that not wanting my sons to fight and die a ghastly death is throwing them under a bigger bus.

How many sons do you have? How old are they? I admire anyone who would willingly see their sons die in war for a greater good. It's not me. Should I be ashamed?

Well. I am ashamed when I see that you and others like you, would take on that pain but I don't think I could ever be reconciled to draping a picture of my boys with black ribbon, lighting a tea candle in front of that picture and feeling proud.

You can and it seems you're in the majority but I just can't .

No bus is big enough for me not to try to send them to Ireland or anywhere they could hide.

Letskeepcalm · 01/03/2025 12:22

tellmewhenthespaceshiplandscoz · 01/03/2025 12:08

And all the "Oh but the US have given 70 billion trillion times more £ than anyone else ..." thing ...

Do you really believe this was out of the goodness of their hearts and with the aim of securing real and lasting peace for the people of Ukraine?

You've put it perfectly

Mrsbloggz · 01/03/2025 12:22

I agree his supporters are the empty vessels who make a lot of noise; few in number but the (vacuous) noise makes them appear as if they are the majority.

C0tt0nCandy · 01/03/2025 12:22

EasternStandard · 01/03/2025 12:20

@C0tt0nCandy nope you'll have to commit to fighting or your dc if you ask it of others online.

I know you want to divert but there's
no point in throwing around tough talk. You can do the sacrifice if keen.

Ah so you have no alternative plan. None what so ever.

Bertaboo · 01/03/2025 12:23

Vance is so childish.

To zelensky:

"Did you even say thank you. Did you ? Did you?'

Alexandra2001 · 01/03/2025 12:23

MarvellousMarch · 01/03/2025 12:14

@Alexandra2001 no, no and no.

What does capitulation look like to you? Do you think agreeing to annex crimea but leaving the rest of Ukraine is capitulation?

No I don't think putin wants to die in a nuke blast but he can smaller tactical nukes, he can use gases and all sorts like in Syria?

What the do we do the same inside Russia??
Gas Russia what then if he ups the stakes?
Or stop it and get the USA in via a side door

I can't speak for others but I agree Russia was the invader it's blood obvious, putin is a nightmare individual and trump is extremely difficult to deal with.

Thats not the deal, Russia gets Crimea and 25% of Ukraine..

With no security backup....so he can come back for more.

If the deal was just Crimea and withdrawal, then yes that maybe the price to end the war.

Russia hasn't used gas or nukes, despite 3 years of near stagnation and ever more and sophisticated weapons going into Ukraine.

So why would he risk retaliation? tactical nukes aren't small and these would affect land Russia wants.

Mrsbloggz · 01/03/2025 12:24

Bertaboo · 01/03/2025 12:23

Vance is so childish.

To zelensky:

"Did you even say thank you. Did you ? Did you?'

Just awful wasn't he 😬😱
He's trying to compete with musk for the favour of the odious orange man

Bertaboo · 01/03/2025 12:24

Genuine question:

Why are no other European countries intervening and fighting Russia?

This war has been dragging on for years now

EasternStandard · 01/03/2025 12:24

@C0tt0nCandy I know people post as you do how keen you are for others to fight for you.

You'll have to do it yourself.

Bertaboo · 01/03/2025 12:23

To zelensky:

The thing is too it’s based on utter nonsense, he literally says thank you every time he speaks publicly abroad.

Catpuss66 · 01/03/2025 12:25

Shudacudawuda · 01/03/2025 08:14

If USA had a presence in Ukraine (in order to mine these minerals), surely that offers security doesn't it? Or is this too simplistic / wishful thinking.

& as soon as they plunder Ukraine & leave then what green light to Russia it’s your turn. Not sure I would make a deal like that not sure the people of Ukraine want that. No one is mentioning the US& other countries made a deal that Ukraine would get rid of nuclear weapons on the understanding that the US would protect them. It was called the Belarus memorandum. Russia already breached this with the invasion of Crimea in 2014.

Susan7654 · 01/03/2025 12:25

Why Trump doesnt pressure Putin? Its like a teacher telling bullied child to suck it up and give in.
Its crazy that the fate of the world depend s on one very incompetent and emotion, power and greed driven man

Pickledpoppetpickle · 01/03/2025 12:25

So....what I saw yesterday was Trump siding with Russia. Russia started a war, totally unprovoked, with Ukraine. There is no doubt about - the whole world agrees. But your expectation is that Zelensky is the one that backs down? Just lets Putin have whatever he wants? What happens then? Putin fancies a bit of Poland? We tell Poland to just bend over and give him what he wants?

I mean, in the big scheme of things, what I'm now seeing is a world war along the lines of Russia and the USA on one side, possibly China in there too, and Europe on the other. What chance do we stand, realistically?

StandFirm · 01/03/2025 12:25

The real problem is that the more Trump gets backed up in the US and around the world, the more it will embolden Putin to march on and tighten the screws on his own people. Everything should be done to undermine the toxic Russian regime and their high profile foreign assets. We have to fight for the West whether we like it or not. The Nazi regime was awful. Stalin's USSR was awful. Franco's regime was awful. Mussolini was awful. I can go on. It wasn't all that long ago.

Killam · 01/03/2025 12:25

America has allied with Russia. This is a catastrophe. We aren't getting out of this without a war and we will probably all die, whatever we "feel" about it. We need to ally with Germany and France immediately and go to a war economy. It's a nightmare. It's a disaster.

C0tt0nCandy · 01/03/2025 12:26

EasternStandard · 01/03/2025 12:24

Igotjelly · 01/03/2025 12:27

The thing is you can argue about sending your sons or not but Putin has bigger plans than Ukraine and whether we like it or not and whether Putin signs a “peace” deal or not that’s the hard facts. War is coming to us whether we like it or not. The Ukrainians have spent the last 3 years sacrificing their sons and daughters so we don’t have to. The least we can do is give them money and means to survive.

StandFirm · 01/03/2025 12:27

I am also not prepared to accept that that's it for the US. My American non-Trumpist friends (and those gaslighted into voting for the fucker, by the way) are worth more than that.

ZooAccountant · 01/03/2025 12:27

Bertaboo · 01/03/2025 12:23

Vance is so childish.

To zelensky:

"Did you even say thank you. Did you ? Did you?'

But did he? It's seems a warmer approach to Trump wouldn't have done any harm. In keeping relationships supportive, isn't this what you do?
We thank you for supporting Ukraine....

Pickledpoppetpickle · 01/03/2025 12:28

And I just want to say, there's a man who's was thrusted on to the world stage as a result of someone else's desire to have his country. He has attended countless meetings across the globe with the world press in his face and despite not being a native English speaker, has held his own linguistically every single fucking time. I would love to see Putin and Trump manage even a tiny percent of what that man has managed in the last 3 years. Just linguistically. Never mind the rest.
