To think Trump is right

1000 replies

Donotpanicoknowpanic · 01/03/2025 08:04

Watching the press conference last night which descended into an argument

I can't help think Trump was right and made good points

Thousands of troops are dying and being seriously injured every month

Trump wants it to stop

There are thousands of people who have children alive today who will not be alive tomorrow because of this war

They are clearly in a stalemate and soldiers are now dying untill peace terms are made as no side can win on the battlefield

Trump as brutal as it sounds was being realistic about what peace would be like

Ukraine has to be realistic

If Ukraine sign the rare earth deal with America then America will have a stake in Ukraine and they should then get a better security deal

Trump has not agreed what that is yet, it's clear he wants the European's to form a big part of that

The European's want American troops and for good reason

But this has to stop and the only way it will stop is by peace negotiations

And these have to be realistic and Trump is saying it as it is

People used to make fun of American patriotism. But this 👆is the end result.

Oh yeah, are you going to line your boys against Russia? Hmm?

It's 2025. Won't just be boys anymore.

Upstartled · 01/03/2025 11:32

And every other mnetters, you know, the ones who can barely countenance the risk of a forward facing car seat, you think they're going to throw their boys in the canon too?

OhMargaret · 01/03/2025 11:32

Why do some posters think the US has an obligation to Putin?

Trump might have one, the country doesn’t.

None of this gives any advantage to the US. The cost of the weapons they’ve been sending to Ukraine is negligible given their arms budget, barely a rounding error.

Even the minerals argument is dubious in my opinion, Ukraine’s rare Earth elements are unmined and of unknown use and its other minerals add up to less than a few percent of the world’s supplies.

Nobody is going to draft your daughters. That would be extremely unpopular.

Correct. Women will not be conscripted unless for things like weapon making/caring duties.

Biscuitsnotcookies · 01/03/2025 11:33

I just feel awful for the Ukrainians, and hope they know that we support them. I feel so angry and sad about the whole thing.

MarvellousMarch · 01/03/2025 11:33

@FixTheBone @AllTheBestUsernamesHaveBeenTaken

Why did they ignore it?

Because they could.
What stopped Russia massing on the Ukraine border, what detterant was there to warn putin off?
What would make putin think twice?

I'd say an unstable man in the white house with an investment he wants to protect may well do.

Those typing how keen they are for others to go can offer, I'm ok with that.

Maurepas · 01/03/2025 11:24

OK - who of you all with sons aged 18 - 25 years old are willing to see them go to Ukraine to fight against Russia (whose troops now include released criminals ), their Korean allies and any sundry mercenaries?

If Russia learns that they will pay no price for invading a sovereign country, at what point do we stop having a choice?

GoldenLegend · 01/03/2025 11:34

crumblingschools · 01/03/2025 08:07

So Russia gets a bit of Ukraine and USA gets a bit of Ukraine, what’s in it for Ukraine and the rest of the world? Where does it stop?

It wouldn't stop. Hitler proved that. Putin's ambitions are endless.

Oooeee · 01/03/2025 11:34

Trump doesn't care about peace. He's only doing this to benefit himself.

In what way do you support them?

They control the unstable man in the White House.

Trump has made this very clear.

@Puzzledandpissedoff If you want to prove your point, it would be helpful to provide actual sources?

So Russia gets a bit of Ukraine and USA gets a bit of Ukraine, what’s in it for Ukraine and the rest of the world? Where does it stop?

Exactly. It gives a green light to Putin and other dictators to try again somewhere else.

Wildflowers99 · 01/03/2025 11:37

We all need to accept we have become a country which is a life support machine for people with social ‘needs’. And therefore cash for anything outside of effectively social care and benefits has dwindled to virtually nothing. We can no longer afford to spend 40% of our cash on the NHS and benefits alone. I know I sound like a stuck record but if we managed to reduce DLA and PIP by half, we could increase our military expenditure by over half. That’s how bad things are. We can no longer afford to be a country full of ‘needs’ and also expect to have global standing and a prepared military.

Starmer badly needs to make these cuts, but he can’t because the public are so reliant that he knows it’s a recipe for electoral defeat.

It’s such a shame things have been allowed to reach this point (yes I blame the Tories)

Yalta · 01/03/2025 11:37

Trump and Vance have a distinct similarity to a pair of teenage girls bullying someone with far more intellect than they will ever have

The fact that Trump is now cosying up to a communist dictator (WTF) who having used nearly all the Russian men as cannon fodder is now working his way through the population of North Korean males

I think if Trump had any self awareness and critical thinking this war would be over and Putin taken down by his own people for committing genocide on all those called up to fight in the name of mother Russia. Instead all it took was Putin massaging Trumps ego and having a giggle with him to show what a bezzy mate he can be and how they can divide up Ukraine in the name of peace and I think maybe how they could be lining their own pockets at the same time too has Putin thinking that the possibility of winning was within reach now he has the US on side

I am pretty sure that the display given by Trump and Vance and their recent speeches show some sort of mental break from reality and the men in white coats need to be called to stop this going any further

For 2 men who are supposed to be leaders of the free world I think they sound completely unhinged

If Russia learns that they will pay no price for invading a sovereign country, at what point do we stop having a choice?

This. Besides how often has Russia been trying to take over Ukraine since its independence? And yet people are surprised why Ukraine wants to fight back? Trump and Putin are in their 70s but somehow they just want to cling to power for as long as they can.

MarvellousMarch · 01/03/2025 11:38

@Merrymouse what price do you think they should pay when they threaten us with nukes

WhiteHouseinaRedSquare · 01/03/2025 11:38

I've not seen anyone say they are surprised zelensky want to fight back?

Agree @upstartled. People post this stuff on SM, if only they could show how keen they are to fight personally instead of easy to say stuff.

At the same time as getting us closer to someone else doing it for them.
