To think Trump is right

1000 replies

Donotpanicoknowpanic · 01/03/2025 08:04

Watching the press conference last night which descended into an argument

I can't help think Trump was right and made good points

Thousands of troops are dying and being seriously injured every month

Trump wants it to stop

There are thousands of people who have children alive today who will not be alive tomorrow because of this war

They are clearly in a stalemate and soldiers are now dying untill peace terms are made as no side can win on the battlefield

Trump as brutal as it sounds was being realistic about what peace would be like

Ukraine has to be realistic

If Ukraine sign the rare earth deal with America then America will have a stake in Ukraine and they should then get a better security deal

Trump has not agreed what that is yet, it's clear he wants the European's to form a big part of that

The European's want American troops and for good reason

But this has to stop and the only way it will stop is by peace negotiations

And these have to be realistic and Trump is saying it as it is

Just listened to an interesting piece on LBC News with a Ukrainian MP from Odessa. Gives some insight into the whole thing from a Ukrainian viewpoint

(I haven’t researched who the MP is, don’t know his political stance, just thought people might be interested in listening to some different viewpoints)

Vance is the ultimate example of someone who is so dense that light bends around them. A thoroughly unintelligent individual with limited cognitive capacity to understand the complexity of the issue at hand.

Trump doesn’t give a hoot about anyone else other than himself and his rich pals and making them all richer. A traitor willing to sell out every apparent ally the US has in the west in an apparent bid to suck up the arse of a vile murderous dictator.

I agree with what you say about Trump. He is going to leave America in a much worse state than when he started because he doesn't give a shit about "the people" who follow him except to control their minds and bend them to his vicious, violent will.

It is a collective. Europe isn’t just one country!! 🙄

"We're" is the collective, if you belong to it...

(Well, in context, "our").

Merrymouse · 01/03/2025 11:13

Does America have an obligation to be the world's police? No

However, from what we saw yesterday, the more relevant question is does America have an obligation to Putin? From what we saw yesterday, the answer is yes.

Honestly, Americans should be looking at Trump's capitulation to Putin, and thinking about the fact that they share a border with Russia.

I think many of the people defending Russia are just Russian bots trying to influence social media.

I agree, look out for the bot hallmarks everyone.

Quite the contrary. It is refreshing that an American president is actually putting America’s interest over that of ‘the international order’

AllTheBestUsernamesHaveBeenTaken · 01/03/2025 11:14

Back in 2020, the Russian opposition leader Aleksey Navalny was poisoned. There’s still ongoing inquiry about the Salisbury Poisonings. This incident occurred way back in 2018. And somehow Ukraine expected to just hand over its minerals to America/Russia?

But we (the U.K) do not belong to the EU - although we reside in Europe as a continent …

But it seems you don’t consider yourself European. All possible reasons are interesting.

I am still interested in the compromise you propose that Russia make

I think if he can be beat buds with Nintendo then he can also have a sinilar relationship with Putin. Nintendo is a bully and ethnically cleansing and destroying Palestine. Everyone loves him. So why is it offensive to say you agree and Putin a decent fella.

What?

EasternEcho · 01/03/2025 09:42

Why isn't Trump pressuring Putin to withdraw, but is pressuring Ukraine to capitulate? Why do you think he's right in doing so? And you believe Putin and Trump are going to be satisfied with whatever they get and will want no more?

Edited

Strange this isn't it.

It's all on the invaded country to give up land and minerals. The invader gets land but gives nothing, very odd.

So what has Putin got on Trump that means Putin has to do nothing, but Ukraine has to give up land and minerals?

It's bizarre

Featherpink · 01/03/2025 11:16

When trump was reelected I knew something nasty will happen against Ukraine in Putin's favour. Notice how trump is really throwing the dirt on Ukraine and not Putin/Russia?

I reckon trump is being blackmailed to do some of Putin's dirty work. Trump is nothing more but a dirty tramp.

I am British, and do not consider myself European thanks. I don’t know anyone that describes themselves as European in the U.K.!!

Hancox432 · 01/03/2025 11:16

Can someone just suggest what the next steps are without US support. All I can see is a wider war or Ukrainian capitulation.

Sadly we in Europe have based our whole security ethos on the fact that the USA will help. Clearly this may be changing.... So what's the plan now?

DrummingMousWife · 01/03/2025 11:18

I can’t believe Vance had the cheek to argue against conscription, when Vietnam was waged by the very men the US conscripted. Vance needs a history lesson.

Biscuitsnotcookies · 01/03/2025 11:18

The compromises Russia will have to make will be to give up the idea of taking over Ukraine and concede some areas that are in contention. They will I hope, continue to be punished financially and economically to the end of time.

Marieb19 · 01/03/2025 11:18

Trump does have some valid points. However, negotiations take place in private away from cameras. That was a contrived set up, to humiliate Zelenski. Members of the press had even been primed. It was a shameful day for America.

FuglyBitch · 01/03/2025 11:18

Hypothetically replace Ukraine with Britain in your sentence, how would you feel then?

shatteredparent · 01/03/2025 11:19

Weefreetiffany · 01/03/2025 11:08

Why shouldn’t free people choose who they side with? Why dont you want pro-ukrainian opinions publicised? Why do you grt to manipulate what we discuss today?

Thank you for the idea, "Weefreetiffany"!!!

Let's start a separate Slava Ukraini thread where the focus is not on the traitors and whether they are right or wrong, but on expressing support for Ukraine! Let's get it trending!!!

Ukraine already signed a peace deal in 2019.

The world watched as russia ignored it, they thought it would not affect them and turned a blind eye, much the same way as they did in the mid thirties.

Failure to act up to this point is what has cost countless lives.

Agreed. And yet the selective memory is outstanding. What’s to stop Russia from breaking yet another peace deal if it was to materialise?

C152 · 01/03/2025 11:19

Donotpanicoknowpanic · 01/03/2025 09:37

I can support Ukraine and want peace in Ukraine

No country is going to enter the war to support Ukraine

Ukraine can not push Russia back out the country

The war needs to end

What on earth do you mean by saying "no country is going to enter the war to support Ukraine?" Multiple countries have already entered the war by providing aid, military support, knowledge and tools to rebuild critical infrastructure etc.

Vaxtable · 01/03/2025 11:19

Trump has started ‘peace ‘ talks with Russia, and excluded Ukraine. He has basically said he will dictate what Ukraine has to do when Russia started this three years ago. All he wants is the mineral rights he doesn’t care about anything else

If any ‘peace’ deal goes ahead in the form Trump wants Putin will consider it a green light to invade others to get his old USSR back because he knows his bully boy buddy Donald will be happy to allow that.

both Trump and Vance are bully’s. Their behaviour towards another head of state was shameful

Americans are self centred at best, just look at history and now they are led by bullies who are incapable of looking at a bigger picture and are in the thrall of a Russian dictator.
